As one of the best-known tyre manufacturers in the world, Dunlop has been on the market for over 130 years delivering top quality, high performance, long-lasting tyres.

Dunlop tyres belong to the premium market segment of car tyres. This means that the products are developed with the use of the most advanced research, latest technologies, and durable materials.

Dunlop tyres will appeal to drivers who enjoy dynamic driving and expect more than reliability from their tyres. If you like to feel the thrill of driving a sports car and driving is your passion, then the high performance Dunlop tyres are certainly the right choice for you.

The history of Dunlop tyres

The history of Dunlop tyres started in 1888 with John Boyd Dunlop. This British inventor was the first person to patent the pneumatic tyre, a tyre filled with air for improved comfort. Initially, they were used for bicycles and then for the debuting automobiles, first cars powered by petrol.

In the early 1960s, Dunlop engineers discovered aquaplaning, which led to the development of tyres that quickly drain water away, significantly improving safety on wet surfaces. Another exceptional achievement by Dunlop is the 3S technology which allows the development of tyres that are safe, comfortable and resistant to wear, all at the same time. This solution led to a new standard in the production of tyres.

Dunlop developed one of the first tyres capable of driving after a puncture — the Denovo model also known as a 'fail-safe' tyre. Introduced in the 1970s, it is equipped with a DSST system thanks to which the weight of a car is supported even when tyre pressure is lost.

Dunlop tyres in motorsports

As a brand, Dunlop has long been associated with its involvement in motorsports. The company gained their unrivalled experience in tyre manufacturing in tough racetracks conditions. That resulted in Dunlop’s premium class tyres offering very high performance and top standards in terms of safety and comfort.

The company can be proud of its long series of successes in the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans race, as well as 8 championship titles and 82 wins in the Formula 1 Grand Prix. In 1999, Dunlop Tyres merged with the American giant Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The two companies joined forces while maintaining Dunlop’s high standards, the essential values and features until today.

The AMG Driving Academy (Mercedes-AMG) chose Dunlop tyres as its official tyre supplier for winter motosports. Other premium brands such as Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Renault and Jaguar also partnered with Dunlop to improve the performance of their luxury vehicles.

The outstanding capacities and advanced features of Dunlop tyres are greatly appreciated and praised. This has been proven by the tests carried out by leading motoring organisations as well as the consumers’ long-lasting trust.

Our customers' opinions on Dunlop tyres:

  • Dezavu 5.0

    Dunlop Winter Sport 5

Great tyres, low noise and doesnt let you down on any weather. Great on snow. But there is one issue woth them. They dont have great stiffness. Too soft for rear wheel drive car. Up to 60mph everything ok. Above it is unpleasant to drive. It looks like gliding left or right om motorway. Went to germany autoban and on higher speed it os worth. Looks like loosing handling. So if you are slow driver these tyres are perfect for any winter condition. See more >

Tyres that cost me around about £260 cost me a further £120 as cowboy tyre fitter recommend by yourself cut my senor values and 1 had to have them replace at my own cost!!! And openeo told me to send invoice and they would help with cost to then be told not there problem . As the tyres they supply were fine but they all gave a recommendation on there website . Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT

Only done 2000+ miles since replacing 1 tyre purchased from Oponeo as no company stocks them apparently in the UK, as a result of severe puncture which was unrepairable. Have these all round since new and still perform well in all weathers and still look in good condition. Car has done 12000 miles since new. See more >
  • Kamil Matejek 4.4

    Dunlop SP Sport Bluresponse

Very good quality tires at an affordable price. When working aggressively on wet surfaces, they perform perfectly and I feel that they "stick" better than on dry surfaces. In a car with rear-wheel drive and speeds on the highway above 200km / h, after 30,000 km there is not much tread wear. With a clear conscience I recommend Dunlop SP Bluresponse tires. See more >
