Skoda Yeti

The Škoda Yeti is a compact SUV manufactured at Škoda’s factory in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. It was the brand’s first mass-produced SUV, marking a significant milestone in Škoda’s lineup. The Yeti was initially unveiled as a concept car at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. Later that year, a second prototype—a recreational pick-up version—was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The original design was created by Thomas Ingenlath.

Despite its early concept debut, the Yeti did not enter mass production until 2009. It was developed as a versatile small SUV, ideal for both urban driving and light off-road use. The production model made its official debut at the Geneva International Motor Show. Compared to the concept, the final version featured several design changes, primarily led by Jens Manske, who adapted the vehicle for series production. Key updates included a redesigned interior and modified front and rear light clusters.

The Škoda Yeti was built on the Škoda Octavia 4x4 platform, featuring a modified suspension system for improved handling and comfort. It was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including:

  • 1.2 TSI (77 kW / 105 hp)
  • 1.4 TSI (90 kW / 122 hp)
  • 1.8 TSI (118 kW / 160 hp)
  • 2.0 TDI CR DPF diesel engines with outputs of 110 hp, 140 hp, and 170 hp

Transmission options included five-speed, six-speed, and seven-speed gearboxes, with the seven-speed version utilizing a DSG dual-clutch system.

Standard features on the Yeti included the VarioFlex seating system, electric front windows and mirrors, side airbags, fog lights, and halogen headlights. The SUV earned a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests and was awarded the title of Czech Car of the Year in 2010.

The factory-fitted tyre size for the Škoda Yeti is 215/60 R16, with optional upgrades available to 225/50 R17 tyres.
