Vauxhall Corsa

The Vauxhall Corsa is a popular series of small passenger cars in the B-segment category. The first generation debuted in 1983, developed in response to the growing demand for compact vehicles across Europe. In the late 1970s, Vauxhall decided to build a modern manufacturing facility in Zaragoza, Spain. Production officially began on 5 November 1982, an event marked by a visit from King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who famously drove a Corsa A out of the factory hall. The first-generation Corsa offered a range of petrol engines from 1.0 to 1.6 litres, including the high-performance GSI variant. A facelift in 1990 introduced more rounded bumpers and a redesigned dashboard. In 1993, the second generation, known as the Corsa B, premiered at the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Japanese designer Hideo Kodama, it featured a modern hatchback body with smooth, rounded lines. Engine options included petrol units ranging from 1.0 12V (54 hp) to 1.6 16V (106–109 hp), as well as diesel engines from 1.5 to 1.7 litres (50–60 hp). The most powerful 109 hp version came equipped with 185/60 R14 tyres. In some markets, saloon and estate versions were also available. The third generation, the Corsa C, launched in 2000. It was slightly larger and built on the new Gamma platform. A facelift in 2003 introduced a 1.3-litre diesel engine co-developed with Fiat, produced exclusively in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. The Corsa C was showcased at the London Motor Show in July 2006. Built on a GM-Fiat co-developed platform (also used in the Fiat Grande Punto), it featured a sportier design, especially in the three-door version, which resembled a coupé. The 2011 facelift brought redesigned headlights, fog light housings, and a new front grille. Standard tyre sizes for the Corsa C included 185/65 R15 and 195/60 R15, with winter tyre options available for 14-, 16-, and 17-inch rims. The fourth generation, the Corsa D, was produced from 2006 to 2014. The most powerful version, the 1.6 Turbo OPC (141 kW), came with 215/45 R17 tyres as standard. This was followed by the Corsa E, and the latest model is the Corsa F.
