The growing popularity of all-season tyres among drivers has been noticeable for quite some time. So it's no wonder that manufacturers are systematically introducing new, increasingly advanced models to the market. The ADAC 2025 all-season tyre ranking is a valuable source of information to help you make an informed purchasing decision. What were the results of this year's tests? Enjoy the reading!
Which of the tested tyres performed best in this year's ADAC study?How did the ADAC all-season tyre ranking come about?
The ADAC all-season tyre test is one of the most highly-anticipated publications in the automotive industry. The organisation's specialists conduct rigorous tests in order to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each model. As a result, the tests constitute a reliable source of information for drivers seeking reliable, independent expert opinions. An important point is that the carried out tests include tyres from manufacturers included in the premium brand, the mid-range segment, as well as economy (budget) tyres.
As per usual, testing of all-season tyres took place at specially prepared facilities that faithfully reproduce the conditions on the roads throughout the year. The locations used include, among others, the Finnish "Testworld" centre, the Continental ice track and the Bridgestone test track in Germany. This allows a comprehensive assessment of the behaviour of a particular model in different weather conditions. However, none of the tyre manufacturers had any influence on the results obtained.
This year's tests were conducted on 225/45 R17 size tyres – one of the most common tyre sizes found in passenger vehicles. This size is suitable for cars such as: Mercedes A-Class, Toyota Corolla, Peugeot 308 or Skoda Octavia.
Criteria for the ADAC all-season tyre test
The German automobile association is renowned for its impartiality and fair approach to the tests it conducts. This applies equally to winter, summer and all-season tyres. This approach allows for a reliable verification of the manufacturers’ claims regarding the quality, mileage (lifespan) and vehicle handling properties of the offered tyres.
In this year's study, ADAC verified the properties of 16 models available on the market, selected by the association's independent consortium. The experts took a look at both items that are already well known to drivers, as well as some less recognisable products. The results obtained were awarded appropriate marks, which impacted the final result.
The scoring was as follows:
Mark | Rating |
---|
0.6 - 1.5 | very good |
1.6 - 2.5 | good |
2.6 - 3.5 | satisfactory |
3.6 - 4.5 | sufficient |
over 4.6 | insufficient |

Since 2023, ADAC has applied slightly modernised evaluation criteria taken into account during the tests it performs. Currently the driving safety criterion accounts for 70% of the final grade, while environmental sustainability accounts for 30%.
The driving safety criterion consists of:
- behaviour on dry surface (35% share in the result) – in this category, the experts checked, among others, the overall driving comfort, braking distance and driving at the grip limit;
- behaviour on wet surface (45% share in the result) – braking distance, handling, longitudinal and transverse aquaplaning and circular driving were tested;
- vehicle handling in winter conditions (20% share in the result).
The environmental sustainability criterion consists of:
- mileage (40% of the assessment) – checked while driving in convoy;
- tyre wear (20% of the assessment);
- performance (20% of the assessment) – relating to both mileage and fuel consumption;
- noise levels (10% of the assessment) – internal and external noise generated;
- sustainability (10% of the assessment).
ADAC ranking of 225/45 R17 size all-season tyres
ADAC's all-season tyre test indicates that manufacturers' efforts are paying off. The results were even better than last year's landmark result, when for the first time in the survey's history an all-season model received a good rating – in this year's survey, four products received such assessments. This means that drivers can increasingly enjoy safe driving at any time of the year.

After the results were tallied up, the premium brands proved to be unrivalled. However, the overall results vary widely. Of the 16 models, only 8 items received the German automobile association's recommendation, and as many as four were rated as "insufficient". Also surprising is the very poor result of Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ and Nexen N'Blue 2Season 2; these items were rated as “sufficient” and therefore did not get a recommendation.
The first place on the podium again belongs to the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 model. In the previous edition this tyre model became the first all-season tyre in the history of ADAC tests to receive a "good" rating. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 obtained the same final score, with a slightly worse balance of partial criteria.
As ADAC experts point out, each of the models exhibited certain strengths and weaknesses. Almost all tyre models require further improvement in terms of braking on wet surfaces, and many models were distinguished by their relatively low mileage.
Winners of the ADAC 2025 All-Season Tyre Ranking
First place - Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3
The leading position in this year's ranking was retained by Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 – a tyre whose characteristics confirm its place in the premium class. It is versatile and equipped with the manufacturer's latest technologies, thereby ensuring high levels of safety all year round. The carefully selected rubber compound and advanced tread pattern enable the driver to maintain control of the vehicle in a variety of weather conditions.
During testing, the model stood out for its very good performance on both wet and snowy surfaces. It offers reliable grip and high mileage. The Dry Handling technology used in this model reduces sidewall deformation, resulting in better stability, more effective braking and greater energy efficiency when driving on dry roads.
In rainy conditions the tyre benefits from the Aqua Control system – wide, deep grooves ensure effective drainage of water, minimising the risk of aquaplaning and ensuring firm contact with the road surface. Meanwhile, the Snow Grip technology guarantees excellent grip and full control of the vehicle in difficult winter conditions.
Second place - Continental AllSeasonContact 2
The second place in the ADAC 2025 all-season tyre test went to the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 model, which earned the same overall mark as the winner. What's more, it's the only model in the ranking to receive a "good" rating in both the driving safety and environmental sustainability categories.
This tyre stands out for its exceptional grip on snow and ice, guaranteeing confident vehicle handling even in difficult winter conditions. In winter road surface tests, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 achieved the best results of all 16 models tested.
However, winter conditions are not the only strength of this model – the tyre provides safe control of the vehicle all year round. On both wet and dry surfaces it ensures a short braking distance, dynamic handling and very good lateral grip. It also stands out for its high resistance to aquaplaning.
Continental AllSeasonContact 2 provides very good driving comfort – it generates low noise levels and effectively cushions road surface unevenness, which significantly increases the comfort of travelling. The open design of the tread shoulders increases protection against aquaplaning, while the dedicated Chili Blend rubber compound maintains flexibility over a wide temperature range, providing excellent grip and control over the vehicle.
Third place - Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3
The third place on the podium of this year's ranking goes to Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 – a tyre model that performed particularly well in the categories of braking on wet surface, fuel efficiency and durability. This premium-class model combines innovative technologies, excellent driving characteristics and high vehicle handling comfort.
The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 features a directional tread with deep grooves and numerous sipes that ensure confident driving in all weather conditions. The 3D sipe technology strengthens the tread blocks, resulting in precise handling on snow surfaces and even tyre wear. Interlocking grooves in the central section of the tread increase safety when driving in the rain, enabling efficient water drainage.
The state-of-the-art rubber compound used in this model adapts to the temperature of the road surface, offering optimal flexibility in winter conditions and great stability during the summer. The tyre also exhibits high abrasion resistance, as confirmed by this year's ADAC tests.
