Dunlop SP Sport Maxx

Tyre details:

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx are premium summer tyres designed for high-power vehicles with a sporty and aggressive nature. They ensure the highest level of safety on dry and wet surfaces.

Its directional tread pattern with a wide central rib provides driving precision, short braking distance, effective acceleration and smooth manoeuvring. At the same time, it wears out slowly and evenly.

With Dunlop SP Sport Maxx, you may travel in comfort even at a high speed. A good driver-tyre communication gives you more time to feel the road and to react appropriately. Additionally, the stiff blocks located in the tread's shoulder section support dynamic driving at bends.

We should also highlight the technological solutions used in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. The manufacturer introduced Multi Radius Tread (MRT) technology, which allows for an excellent performance both on dry and wet surfaces. Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres use the aptly named Twin Hydro Paddle, a pattern that reduces water whirls during drainage through the grooves.

Due to the fact that Dunlop SP Sport Maxx is designed for luxurious high-power sports cars, the tyre also offers high travelling comfort without noises generated during driving.

The rubber compound used in the model is based on a system of nanoparticles. When designing its composition, the manufacturer used solutions taken from motor sports. The effect is maximum grip and short braking distance during a dynamic drive.

It is worth mentioning that Dunlop is a British brand owned by Goodyear. For many years, they have been producing high-tech tyres using the experience gained on racecourses. Dunlop tyres have won the most titles in the legendary 24h Le Mans race. The effect is extremely high quality products with top performance.

    Opinion from outside the UK

Dunlop SP Sport MAXX is an expensive and widely advertised tyre. Personally, I had Michelin tyres before, which are poorly rated here. Maybe it is true, but in comparison, these Dunlop tyres are no better. Yes, they have a little bit better traction in the corners, I can enter them a bit faster, but it doesn't build emotions in me. Maybe they are better because have hardly worn. But, the fact is, they don't squeal during sudden and sharp maneuvers, they only hum a bit. It's definitely easier to take and keep your driving track - but I was expecting something I could feel more! And I'm sure the car not has larger rolling resistance! Driveability is decent but my previous tyres gave me a better feeling of the handling. I didn't drive much on wet surfaces so I won't rate it yet. But I get the impression that they do not differ much from average tyres in their class. But I know one thing - I expected better performance for such a price. Therefore, I would like to give a bit of advie to those who consider getting Dunlop SP Sport MAXX tyres - think of a cheaper offer and the result will be similar. Maybe Dunlop SP Sport MAXX is a little better, but how many times we drive our cars on the edge to fell such a difference? This tyre manifests its advantages only in extreme conditions! So even if you drive with a bit of sports style - it doesn't meet the expectations. I regret that I spent so much money 150 pounds per tyre). I'm sure I'd get the same effect by buing them somewhere else... Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I was looking for reviews of Dunlop SP Sport MAXX before buying myself, so I feel oibliged to write something about these tyres. I rate them very well. I have a Volvo S60 D5 - 163HP and 340Nm which weighs almost 1500 kgs. The car performed really well on these tyres, grips the road nicely and allows to do much. It allows to take the corners fast, without any unexpected and unpleasant slides, the driver can feel the stability of the car. In addition to normal driving, it allows for "some craziness", it even "encourages" you to drive fast. On dry, the tyre is sensational (grips like glue) when it comes to performance on wet, I've always been happy with it and I rate it very well. It disperses water well - I never had a problem with the stability of the car when driving over the puddles. The tyres are very quiet at the same time. When it comes to wear, they wear evenly and a bit more than average (harder) counterparts of other brands. But Dunlop SP Sport MAXX are virtually sports tyres which are to provide great traction and this is normal. Generally speaking, signs of wear are visible after every season, but it's not tragic. I did about 20 000 miles on my set. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I bought Dunlop SP Sport MAXX tyres for 2008 summer season and did ca. 20 000 miles. The tyres were used in an aggressive way, their grip on dry and wet is OK, they also have good traction in the corners and during starting and braking. They quickly wore out on the front, but I presume it's because of my driving style. The same happened to my previous two sets of tyres, the only thing that worried and cost me a bit was some side damage (due to which I had to dispose of two tyres) - one time on some bottle remains, second time agaist the curb. I did some mileage in my life and I had a lot of tyre sets, but this was the first time I had such bad luck. I recommend Dunlop SP Sport MAXX to those who have already had similar tyres. I get new tyres every season and always change the type of tyres, but always buy High Performance ones. The manufacturer is not important, every tyre has its pros and cons, you need to check out all of them to have some comparison and to be sure not to roll slowly on the road - because then all the tyres are good and there is nothing to overpay for, the differences come out in strange or extreme situations. Opinion from outside the UK

I am very disappointed with Dunlop SP Sport MAXX tyres, even if they are from a very good manufacturer (I am very pleased with their motorcycle tyres). Their advantages are definitely their decent price and good visual look. They grip pretty well on dry, but they are not revolutionary. Their great disadvantage is their bruising during stoppage - it's almost impossible to describe what's going on with this tyre. When I started the car after a few days of rest, I had to stop the car en route to check what's going on, as the vibrations were totally unbearable. It is bearable at a short distance, eg. 30 miles, but it's Dunlop and not a Korean tyre after all. Total disaster. What is more, Dunlop SP Sport MAXX are quite loud, louder then Continental winter tyres... After 25 thousand miles they're completely worn out, the tred wear index is on the same level as the tread. On wet surface they barely grip the road, and aquaplaning in the rain at speeds above 80 MPH is horrendous. Overall, Dunlop SP Sport MAXX are miserable products and made me stay away from Dunlop for at least a few years. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Dunlop SP Sport MAXX are sharp and reliable tyres. During starting, it's difficult to turn on ASR on dry surface, and braking is so sharp you almost hit the wheel. On wet they slightly slide but the signal it with a characteristic noise - and I'm talking here about driving on the race track, because I couldn't make them slide on any typical paved road or in the corner, only on the inner side of the roundabout. Unfortunately, Dunlop SP Sport MAXX is not a purchase for those who like to save money - their rubber compound and the fact that the stripe with "Dunlop SP Sport MAXX" , worn out quite fast may mean I won't make 40 thousand miles on those despite the fact that I drive carefully and don't like to overdo the brakes - but something for something. When it comes to noise level, they have a good standard - on a typical road they hum a but above 80 MPH, but it's normal, and on the motorway with new pavement, they just give a gentle hum at 110 MPH - they are very quiet. Tyres tyres, pretty good but too expensive and nomenclature manufacturer peaks indicate the tyre ... not really, but they're okay. Skipping silence opinions of some reviewers, the type of bmw 530i says something about "tyre deformation and stop beating on the steering wheel." Just the car is złomiasty and suspension, as well one might invent the shock absorbers, springs and bushings, "August resided" at a standstill and the car stiff and noisy. They are good, but not too wet (hard rubber). Seriously speaking, I believe that there will be at least a dozen or so others - cheaper tyre models at least as good, or better. This is not none MAXX and suggesting the name can be disappointed. It's not that they are the masking sound Read more Collapse

Clincher ok - probably a little better behaves in the wet than dry, no "squeaks" with a sharp bow - just slide a car with a bend! Definitely way too loud ... seems like in the car "came out" bearing. Requires a slightly bigger pressure 2.4 - 2.5 bar copes well with holes (the smaller of course), the rut total disaster!!! constant struggle with prayer wheel and an efficient ESP when overtaking :-) definitely resistant to abrasion even with aggressive driving, as compared with a little less Conti "stick" to the asphalt (when starting) ... Conti but it had to be changed after 20 thousand. km because "wyłysiały" and the Dunlopkach soar even a little ... Determined for, minus the ruts and noise!! Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have doubts about the quality of performance tyres. I have no objection to holding the parameters on the road, but it worries me that within 2 months of hurt in the same way 2 tyres (one to be thrown away). Tyres reportedly reinforced laterally, while the two were on the side of the intersection, one on the curb (I came close to the curb), the other did not even know where. In my opinion, with a mix of hard rubber is something wrong. Often brushed with curbs on other tyres, and never happened to me in this way their damage. At the moment I'm afraid to invade anything, I do not want to spend money again, makes no sense. I'd rather avoid those tyres. Besides, seems to me to be quite loud as this brand. Read more Collapse

Tire after 15 thousand virtually to exchange, howls of August can not withstand (very loud). At the beginning of driving parameters were very good, but now the drama. The braking distance of 140 is about 11m longer than contiwintercotact ... Tire terribly wyzabkowana after 2 seasons, I do not feel safe on it. When the dynamic traction jumps, jerks. Feel great resistance to oil, water very high aquaplaning. Even at a standstill does not meet my expectations, because deforms August. At low profile annoying. Poorly różwnież dampens vibrations. Generally advise against. The only thing good in the tire and it looks very good stability in curves, but unfortunately it does not compensate for other defects. Read more Collapse

So, yes, the tyre workout a little more than a week but already from the beginning can be seen that this is not just any product. above all, they are quite comfortable and are riding quietly and behave well on our wonderful "roads", and secondly, it seems to me to have very low rolling resistance, because how you disperse car and throw it is going to play and goes - so are the economic and decreases fuel zurzycie. it seems to me that my car accelerates better from a standing start. may not look impressive, the more I like the other tyres Dunlop SP Sport 9000 but the other properties mentioned above I think that eliminates this item. How do you warm up, you are good. The problem is that they warm up before a nasty tendency to deform. Just a few hours stop and have them do the eggs and then the first 8 - 10 km feel the vibrations on the steering wheel. Then the vibration stops. I tried to advertise it - to no avail. Dunlop position is such that "the type as is," and this is the most normal phenomenon. laughable. I had a lot of other tyres maximum performance in this category (eg, Bridgestone S03, ContiSportContact2) and none of them deforms so no, at least not after a few hours of standing. So, despite a pretty good grip, definitely do not recommend it. Alienated anyway to Dunlop. Next time I go back to Conti. Read more Collapse

Niesamowistym tire appearance, quite loud, sensational grip on dry asphalt - on a wet, unfortunately, a couple times it happened to me that the car was not going as it should (but only when cornering at speeds exceeding the limits of common sense). During normal driving does not make any unpleasant surprises. Tyres quite hard, therefore, at a faster lateral drift curves overcome virtually non-existent (225/45/R17 tires on the front and back of the rear-wheel drive 245/40/R17). After about 6000 km almost no signs of wear - Dunlop inscription on the tread is still visible. As for the money I would expect a better performance in the wet, but it's a great tire - maybe a tad too expensive. Read more Collapse

Great tyre on dry pavement, wet well is not bad, but it certainly is done with the aim of aggressive driving on dry roads. Keeps well in the curves when driving fast. Very easy to feel and to go to the limit of grip. I did the tyre about 25tyś and here comes the drawback, because very quickly consumed by a little less quiet ride. If anyone wants to ride harder must be reckoned with less mileage on this tyre. If someone wants a higher mileage tyre with a quiet ride, and at the same tyre is also very safe I recommend. PS for me after 25 thousand two tyres are suitable for about 15 thousand. (Last year were so), but the front ripped off quite a bit. Read more Collapse

Regarding tyres - tyres represent excellent handling on dry pavement, they are really quiet, good holding ground. Pretty soon the clash (this is the cost of a relatively soft rubber) so you are so tacky and dry. The situation changes quite a bit when it starts to rain, the tyre slip when braking and starting, cornering never so far not felt the sensation slip what is important and here a big plus. Use - to work every day 40km one way out of town. every day in the hometown of the mountainous nature. Every Sunday in the forest road, "tight" is not paved. For those who have not benefited from a shop Oponeo - highly recommended. Regards Read more Collapse

Tyre drove around 45-50 thousand for 4 years, after the third year of micro-cracks appeared but I assumed it to four years because the tread was about 4 mm. Fourth year I have not finished the tread blocks began to fall apart - 3-3,6 mm tread, I would have to ride for the winter but from the inside. I noticed the crack on the side (rather mechanical failure, curb or something else). Tyres when they were young is probably correct but the noise more than the average and the older the worse, uneven tread wear, one blocks the other 2.9 mm 3.8 mm on one tyre. Now assume Vredestein Ultrac Cento, reportedly are quiet and comfortable, we'll see. Read more Collapse

B.duzo ride. about 100k km per year. These are my first tyre of this company. I am disappointed with the quality of the tyres. Tyres in all tests especially ADAC Very good fall as the # 1 position. This is not true. After one season wear. I drove a couple of seasons before Honda Accord with tyres (BF Goodrich Profiler GF) and the tyres are light years better to drive fast. That's what I did for BG broke the laws of physics, and the Dunlop tyres I drive like a pensioner. The tyre is not suitable for high speed driving, the car tilts from side to side, poor braking. The only plus was quiet and comfortable ride to the Polish holes. Read more Collapse

Previously, I would go to hell hard Conti Sport Contact. Love the Sport Maxx-y for the fact that: they are very quiet, they are extremely comfortable (great cushion), performs very well in severe driving and have a low rolling resistance, I was disappointed: for their rapid abrasion (drove 25 thousand on them and will do more up to 10 thousand, and the trash ..), and have lost quite a lot of wear on wet traction, dry seem to be just as safe as nówki. Whether I would buy it again? Yes! despite the fact that soon clash ... - But it's the fault of my fast car (160HP) and driving style. Very soft tyres - a great lead, Read more Collapse

Unless it's millions of miles I drove as some do, that the driving style I would say so eco driving with the family and loneliness fast enough to not endanger other road users ... In 2008 I changed to Dunlop SP Sport 01 Very well holding the tyre on dry and wet roads, noise and wear as soft as Clincher OK. The appearance is a matter of taste-I like. I decided to buy a tyre because of the experience of the competition and confidence in the Dunlop brand. Tyre far from the top, really recommendable. I had the opportunity to compare this tyre to Pirelli P Zero Nero. Dunlop behaving like glued to the asphalt. Quick maneuvers do not cause swinging / casting back of the car which is in turn very annoying for Pirelli. Driving comfort and the low profile is very good, very good noise levels, attrition is "only" good but it is dictated by maintaining a good grip of the tyres (except when aggressive driving is normal), rolling resistance - I did not notice that the car more burning as compared to the narrower tyre sizes. Definitely recommend this tyre. Read more Collapse

Pros: great lead in corners - auto "holding on to the road" - in the VW Passat is not always certain, while driving I do not hear the tyres rotate perfectly, even at 200 km / h (in the case of another company - I had always been a problem with careful balancing - the name of the manufacturer of that tyre for obvious reasons, I do not give). Dunlop had initially Sportmaxx on the car again, but switched to Falken FK 452 and 453. The performance and the duration of the Falkens was very disappointing (only 15,000km). They are a decent tire, I was a bit disappointed by the life of only 22k on the original factory equipped ... but they have a very good protection sidewalk and we'll see how we get out of this new set; hoping for more than 22k. Opinion from outside the UK

Everything would be ok but 2 things, first, the noise level is quite a big second tragedy wet + rear drive tyres do not give advice uślizg very dangerous side on a wet August had to sweat a lot to keep the car on the slip road. Great tyre if it's dry but it is not enough for the money coming back to TOYO much better rubber. Read more Collapse
