Mitsubishi Lancer

The Mitsubishi Lancer is a compact passenger car produced by Mitsubishi Motors since 1973. From the beginning, it has been available in both standard and sporty variants. The first generation was introduced to bridge the gap between the smaller Minica and the larger Galant. Notably, the 1600 GSR version achieved significant success in rally competitions. The second generation, produced from 1979 to 1988, was offered exclusively as a saloon and included high-performance models such as the Lancer EX 1800GSR, EX 2000 Turbo, and GT Turbo. The third generation debuted in 1982 at the Melbourne Auto Show, expanding the lineup to include hatchback, estate, and saloon body styles. In 1988, the fourth generation was launched, featuring design elements inspired by the Galant. The fifth generation, produced from 1991 to 1995, introduced a fresh design and a wider range of engines. The sixth generation, based on its predecessor, was manufactured from 1995 to 2000. In 2000, a revised version of the sixth generation debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show, available only as an estate or saloon. The eighth generation was unveiled in 2007, showcasing a bold new design language known as "Jet Fighter." A key highlight in the Lancer's legacy is the high-performance Lancer Evolution series, introduced in 1992. Powered by an advanced 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing up to 411 hp, the Lancer Evo has earned a strong reputation in motorsports, particularly in WRC rallies. The current model, the Lancer Evolution X, represents the tenth generation of this iconic performance variant.
