225/50 R15 tyres are designed for mid and high class sports cars. The size of the tyre can be seen on its sidewall. It is provided with the help of a string of numbers. The tread width of the tyre is provided in millimetres by the first number. In the case of the 225/50 R15 tyre it is 225 mm. The second number equals the tyre profile's height and its percentage ratio to the tyre's tread width, meaning 50% out of 225 mm. The R15 marks the radial construction type of the tyre ("R") and the diameter of the wheel rim on which the tyres should be installed (here 15 inches).
