215/55 R17 tyres are designed for 4x4s and executive cars. The size of the tyre can be seen on its sidewall in a form of a string of signs. The first number informs about the tread width of the 215/55 R17 tyre and it is provided in millimetres. The second number equals the tyre profile's height and its percentage ratio to the tyre's tread width. In this case it is 55% out of the 215 mm of tread width.
