Toyo R1R

Information on the tyre:

Toyo R1R is an extreme performance summer tyre designed for fast and dynamic driving. It behaves very well on both dry and wet roads. The model is ideal for drivers who equally appreciate safety, comfort and a full vehicle performance regardless of weather conditions.

Toyo R1R has an advanced directional tread pattern. The main element of its sculpture is the long arched grooves in the central part of the shoulder zone. They intersect with each other to form a directional pattern. The model has a unique structure that is devoid of blocks on the shoulder. This ensures rapid water evacuation from the tyres and helps to increase hydroplaning resistance. The tread pattern of the tyre shoulder also improves the manoeuvrability - steering movements are efficiently transferred to the road, and the trajectory is maintained. To build the Toyo R1R, a high-grip tread compound with silica was used, which makes the tyre sufficiently flexible regardless of the temperature. The blend is also lightweight, allowing the designers to successfully reduce rolling resistance , and as a consequence - fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The tyre wears off slowly and evenly, ensuring a longer and safer performance without having to worry about the gradual loss of some of the parameters. Engineers also took care of the acoustic comfort of the driver and passengers – the grooves on the shoulders of the tread provide better air circulation between the substrate and the surface of the tyre. This reduces noise and makes driving on the Toyo R1r quiet and pleasant.

Toyo is an independent Japanese company, which has been supplying its products to the market since 1945. The company specialises in the production of premium tyres, characterised by their maximum performance and excellent durability . The company not only offers tyres for passenger cars, but also for vans, trucks, racing cars and 4x4’s. Currently, the company employs approximately 3,000 employees at their plants around the world.

    Opinion from outside the UK

Toyo R1Rfor first 2 years in summer season unbeatable. You can’t lose grip unless you really want to. My Audi A80 112 HP – 160N on dry and wet road could not lose grip at all. If it rained and was warm the grip was bareable, but when temperature dropped and road was wet, Toyo R1R jumps but not without a warning: it vibrates. For faster and aggressive driving you can’t find better tyres than Toyo R1R, but after using, they are not that good as at the beginning. I think that Toyo R1R loses its properties after 20000 miles. Nevertheless, I recommend Toyo R1R very much as I think it can go better when driving calm. This is not a extreme tyre – it’s more like Ferrari F50 Formula 1 for city traffic. Really recommend!!! Opinion from outside the UK

Due to the super-soft tyre tread Toyo R1R has better traction in climates of max humidity, such as on a light summer rain than the time in dry conditions. This is the fastest wear I've seen (10000 miles / set without overheating), and here it comes. Grip or longevity. Toyo R1R is not noisy like many semi-silk sports. However, I commend Toyo R1R for light vehicles only because of the soft structures of the side walls. Ca.5mm new tread depth. Fuel consumption increased twice as much and torque is not passing car overwiev, still worth it :) Read more Collapse

Toyo R1R is good for everyday driving - definitely recommendable, in warm weather - too soft, overheating and floats. Great for cooler days in the city, if you do not have time to overheat - holds regardless of the set pressure, you can easily adjust the car's balance between over and understeering. Opinion from outside the UK

TOYO R1r to excellent tire for a relatively affordable price. Personally, I used it in amateur sport. Sensational on wet or tight "zasyfionej" surface. Surprisingly performs well in dry conditions at low temperature (+ 3.5 degrees) R1r is not suitable for acute driving at high temperatures. Then it is easy to overheat which significantly reduces the adhesion. Very soft tire and wear out pretty quickly, but I do not think of this as her fault. High stability in turn gives you a sense of security. Summing R1r TOYO is a great tire but you have to use it with the head. Best value for money. Read more Collapse

Very good tire for sports amatroskich provides good traction on dry, wet and soiled surfaces. Allows you to sense the behavior of the car well. Best suited for temperatures up to about 23 degrees, the above problems may be associated with the sports driving to "melt" (sliding) of the tire. Consuming depending on the surface moderately fast, but as is well stick it must be a rip off. Tires are a good compromise between price and quality are cheaper and a little less hold of Toyo R888 but it lasts longer. Read more Collapse

Very good grip in the rain and on dry asphalt, but during hot days and high speeds can be overheat resulting in poor traction again. In my opinion the best properties of the temperature gain. Approximately great 10-20st C. discharge water and wet skid "trying to regain traction." It's all a matter quite soft compound thus the tires "disappear" in the blink of an eye, but they offer traction in almost any conditions. Hard sidewalls make the car more stable. Read more Collapse
