Nankang AS-2+

I’ve driven one season on the Nankang AS2+. I can compare them to earlier Uniroyals and cheaper Chinese tyres (although Cat A rated for rain) on this car and another one. This tyre is very good — it performs well both in dry and wet conditions. It doesn’t slip on quick starts, and locks up late during emergency braking on wet roads (though no miracles — it’s similar to RainSports). On dry braking, it’s excellent: the hazard lights activate before the tyres lock up, so it performs better than the car manufacturer anticipated. I highly recommend these tyres and will gladly use them on my second car when the Austone Athena SP27s I unfortunately chose there wear out. Read more Collapse

Very good value for money. Very good grip on dry and wet roads. Superbly balanced, no vibration or beating. The tyre specialist said they were quite stiff when fitting them to the rim - maybe because I bought the version with the reinforced profile as far as I remember. When I tried the tyre 4 years ago, I was laughed at by my colleagues. Today I have good tyres for little money that I can only recommend. Unfortunately, they have become expensive and are no longer as interesting when it comes to the price-performance ratio as they were 4 years ago. At that time I paid about 55,€, today it is more. Good tyre so far, on a turbo mk1 mx5 running -10 camber, so far Tyre has severely topped the previous Falken tyre that was on previously, seems to handle the camber a bit better and was an easy tyre to fit, sidewalls not overly stiff at all but for a lower profile that is not essentially a bad point, would definatley buy again Read more Collapse

On dry tarmac they perform very well, you can hear a slight noise in the ride but they don't rumble, on wet tarmac they perform reasonably well, although they do buck slightly when moving off sharply, but it's not too bad. Overall I would recommend this tyre. Read more Collapse

I would recommend the tyres, my only complaint is that they are a little noisy at 80-90mph, but this is nothing I didn't know when I bought them, it doesn't stop me from using them every day, and they can handle the rain too, I would recommend them. Read more Collapse

I have been buying nankangs for many years. We stretch the tyres quite a bit and generally they don't have an easy time because there is a lot of heat. They really do perform superbly. Read more Collapse

The tyres are quite hard and have little flex and are therefore not very comfortable, but the handling like a string in combination with the rather stiff Fiat suspension is amazing. Read more Collapse

I recommend them — they’re a perfect fit for classic cars, a typical balloon tire. There aren’t many tyres left in this size and profile for R16 rims with 8J and 9J widths. Read more Collapse
