Hankook Icebear W 300

3PMSF The presented tyre is marked with 3PMSF symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake). It means that the tyre meets the EU requirements for winter tyres. The symbol is awarded after thorough tests of a tyre model in terms of snow grip.

Hankook Icebear W 300 is a winter tyre of the medium class. It was designed regarding the fans of everyday dynamic driving. The tyre is adjusted for the all conditions’ driving. Safety and comfort are guaranteed by the tyre. Its’ great advantage is the attractive, low price.

Hankook Icebear W 300 is a tyre with the asymmetric tread carving that guarantees good traction characteristics on the dry, wet, snowy and even icy surface. Rubber compound enriched with the silica component helps in maintaining optimal softness in low temperatures. As a result, the material shows anti-slippery properties. The tyre is also resistant to attrition. On the tyre’s surface small, zig-zag shaped sipes’ cuttings were applied. In this way, greater quantity of the biting edges that are responsible for the adhesion on the slippery surface was obtained. They ensure that the braking distance is shorter and the steering wheel movements are more precisely transferred onto the road. In order to prevent the tyre’s skid by moving out and accelerating, sharp blocks’ endings were used. The carving ensures that the Hankook Icebear W 300 tyre guarantees quick reaction in dangerous situations on road. Moreover, the carving provides efficient water and slush evacuation from the tyre’s point of contact with the surface. Three ribs with the variable construction in the tyre’s centre are separated by four, circumferential canals. Tyre guarantees high resistance to hydro-and snowplaning occurrences. The tread’ blocks lower the vibes and hums level ensuring high acoustic comfort during the ride.

Hankook Icebear W 300 is a winter tyre designed for the passenger cars of the medium and higher class. It is especially recommended for the sporty cars with the high engine capacity. It is the medium class tyre ensuring perfect ratio of the performance to the price.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I bought these tyres for this year's winter, I chose them because of greed - it was cheaper than my favorite Nokian. The tyres (my car is a rear-wheel-drive, two tons of raw weight) didn't do well in snowy corners, not not to mention starting. I compare it to Nokians, which I used previously, where the grip was sensational. I'd likt to add it's been a month since the purchase, I did almost 10k miles, and the tyres already show signs of wear, and I drive mostly in snow, as Scotland got totally covered in it. If someone is looking for tyres for a rear-wheel-drive, heavy car then I do not recommend buying Hankook Icebear W 300. I wish I didn't get tempted by saving a few pounds. Maybe I'm complaining but I have a comparison to Continental, Michelin and Nokian tyres as I used them in previous years. Maybe everyone praises Michelin and it cost a lot, but Nokian beats them in every single aspect. I don't assess them by the appearance because for me it's stupid to assess the look of the tyre, as they are to fulfill their task and not to look. And I have to add that this size has no rim protector! Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Driving on these tyres is like the Russian roulette - there are poor chances to arrive at your destination in minimal snowfall, not to mention slightly icy snow. I'm knocking myself over them the second season now. They totally lack of side grip, they have poor grip when starting and brakng. ABS works all the time. Even on a flat, smooth surface on wet road they can lose traction, eg. at traffic lights. The tyres are hard and loud. I will never let myself be fooled again by so-called. "cheap and good product" basing on the opinions of amateur "experts". These tyres should be "winter tyres". I've done thousands of miles, but I've never had tyres as terrible as Hankook Icebear W 300. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I bought these tyres persuaded by my German friends. I fitted them to a Mazda 6 MPS (260 BHP, 4WD). They didn't fall apart after two seasons which was already a positive for me, side grip is not the best but we have to remember that in really difficult conditions (ice) no tire will be able to keep traction. Driving straight, abrasion, braking are pretty good. Price-quality ratio is also very decent. If you don't want to spend money or your car is a "tyre eater" than Hankook Icebear W 300 is a good choice. In my case, no matter of the tyres are Nokians or Continentals, they're useless after 24k miles, and the difference is that they cost twice as much as Hankooks. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I do about 28 thousand miles a year, I used Klebers which are too soft for me and actually don't have side grip, Firestone Winterhawk were not bad, but after 4 seasons they were already below average, when I got behind my Fabia's wheel with Hankook Icebear W 300 fitted, I was shocked, they did good everywhere I had to go, there was nor problem with braking, generally they were a pleasant surprise. Too bad they're not widely known and people don't write many objective reviews. I definitely recommend, I wanted to buy them for my private car but for some reason size 195/60R15 is not available. I have driven various types of winter tyres, including a few types of tungsten carbide spiked tyres in Sweden where it is law to have them. The difference between winter and summer tyres in a bad winter is like night and day, no matter which tyres you use, so how some reviewers can mark these tyres as poor is totally beyond me. Its law in Germany as well to have them and so it is big business to do extensive reviews. These came joint 3rd in the main auto magazine "Autobild" 2011 test along with the Pirelli and the Continental.I think they are fantastic on my BMW Read more Collapse

They are a tragedy for winter conditions. Total lack of traction, cornering is terrible. I've been using many various winter tyres of various brands in different cars, but I've neved had such a horrible tyre in my whole life. Do not use Hankook Icebear W 300 for winter. They are good for autumn, but not for snow and ice. Read more Collapse

I got a new car donuts with the first snow, and shock. Zero tires gripping the side ESP non-stop has something to do. Tires rode on the Golf VI GTI, and now because of this they have been, entered the Leon FR. DO NOT RECOMMEND. 80% worse than the Vredestein, and Uniroyal ...
