Firestone WINTERHAWK

3PMSF

The tyre meets the European Union's requirements for winter tyres

Carries the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Flake) symbol, which is awarded after the model in question has been thoroughly tested for snow grip.

Tyre details:

The design and performance of the Firestone WINTERHAWK tyre are ideally suited to the most challenging of winter conditions on the road. The tyre model is manufactured using a special silica-enhanced rubber compound. This combination ensures that the tyre maintains outstanding flexibility regardless of outdoor temperatures. The choice of material also plays a significant role in the model's outstanding grip and its long service life. The sophisticated directional tread design provides outstanding protection, in particular against hazards presented by wet and slushy surfaces. Each individual feature of this directional pattern has a carefully designed function, which it performs with resounding success. One of these features is the dense network of blades arranged over the entire surface of the tyre. This network manages to achieve outstanding protection against loss of grip on slippery surfaces, and thus ensures that the driver is able to maintain excellent control excellent control of the vehicle in conditions of this kind. The tyre behaves faultlessly when starting, braking and cornering. The manufacturer also put a great deal of thought into the steering characteristics of the Firestone Winterhawk tyre, resulting in the use of sturdy blocks in the shoulder tread and reinforcement of the tyre's entire sidewall. The wide circumferential grooves paired with transverse grooves are a further key design element of the directional tread. They ensure the rapid and efficient evacuation of water and slush by the tyre during thawing periods.

Firestone has been a stalwart of the tyre industry since 1905, when the company was founded by Harvey S. Firestone. In 1988 it was acquired by Bridgestone, one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the world. The US brand Firestone was the first mass manufacturer of tyres in the world and played a pioneering role by supplying tyres to be used as original equipment on Ford cars. Firestone-branded tyres are regarded as mid-market products.

I am very happy with these tyres, they were founded in the Fiat Punto and '98. 55 HP 1.1 petrol, ideally behave in the snow and slush. After the positive winter temperatures also excel very good. There were no problems with balance. What to wear, it does not speak as they rode only 1 season. But after one season wear is virtually unnoticeable. I highly recommend these tyres. Tyres proven in all conditions this year, both the snow (wet or deep) and on ice. For dry and at higher temperatures is a little soft tire, but that each winter tyre just react. Generally, a car (4) gave the lead predictably, where he rode to go, does not pose a danger to the driver and other road users. I would recommend. Read more Collapse

Well go on dry asphalt, the wet very well in the snow (Szklarska Poreba) very well (unfortunately only two times I had the opportunity - so sorry we have winter). Fuel consumption much higher than for summer (or Firestone) - ok + 0.5 l/100 km, the noise - imperceptible difference - good price / quality. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have these tyres on the car for a few months and I'm pleased with them. They are loud. These are the soft tyres. Badziej check on snow, ice and slush than on the wet asphalt. I recently had an emergency braking when an uncouth German drove his BMW 5 zdjeździe me the way to the sloping and curving flyovers. I have ABSu and slid a few feet in order to prevent reflections against the side. I stopped about 1 m in front of the car. But it was cold and wet from the long-lasting rain. When winter came true - the tyres are in their element! Feel that the mixture is very soft - a little car flying car for dynamic driving on hard surfaces. I wonder how the durability and abrasion ... Anyway, I do not regret that I bought Firestony Winterhawk - I had to buy Krisstal Fulda Montero II, but did not have the tyres with the speed that I was interested. I compare these tyres Barum Polaris winter tyres - are a little better, though Barumy probably better behaved on the pavement without snow and rain. Although this may be an illusion, because the last ride very fast and perform decently Firestony my command ;-) Greetings to all readers of this opinion :-) Read more Collapse

Tyre 165/70 R13 79T was as good for 2 years from the date of purchase, but no revelations. What I did not match the tyres on this model is that the emergency brake is very easy to block the wheels on the wet asphalt in the autumn - winter! A massacre! It is difficult to detect the point at which the wheels start to lock (I do not ABSu). I was not so with the Barum Polaris I, nor the Fulda Kristal Montero II! After a third year noticeably worse cornering grip in the snow and very hard to move in kopnym snow. The first 2 seasons OK, but the third revealed a poor season rubber compound properties - Firestone tyres because the tread still has a 7 mm thick! Of course tyres "passed the" driving improvement course on Tor Missile Wroclaw in February 2010 in kopnym snow. Correct, but no revelations. It is hard to move, hard to slow down. Auto Skoda Felicia II 1.6 75HP 135Nm without ABS. BDB braking system. Tyres are unlikely to recommend. This season I bought winter tyres Vredestein Snowtrac 3, and I hope that it will be the best winter tyres that I had ;-) Be the first course in the winter ;-) Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I wonder how those opinions "great revelation", etc.? Sam guided by the opinions here and expect to actually revelations, and that probably can not be seen (or maybe it's just a lack of winter? ;). I have to compare with the Toyota Yaris Pirelli and I have to admit that Pirelki were definitely better - kept the snow, ran great in the summer (yes, I rode on them at 30, because I did not want to change) and Winterhawki a little slip in the snow (no Well, it was slippery, besides Yariska have ABS, and Nubira is not). In my, subjective and unprofessional, but honest opinion, the tyre has no visible flaws, but there is also no great revelation - probably has the correct value for the money, although to be honest I rode it for year-round Kormoranach and did not notice any significant difference, but again, other auto - Matiz. Now I bought Firehawki, also guided by the opinions here. Let's see if it does not impress me, in the future I will chose only high-end equipment and stop reading reviews. Opinion from outside the UK

I like Jay Bee bought tyres online store following the opinions of other drivers found on www.tyres. I'm pleased. They have a good price and very good driveability. It is quieter than my summer Barumy (although they were already zajeżdżone but including the noise in the not terribly nervous). I live on the hill and in addition there is always colder than elsewhere, ie for example, everything is black and we have snow lies. August worked on dry, wet the snow and mud. Were covered hockey test - I drove a few meters up the hill and I had to change the route (but on the ice without a thorn, then every lie). Although I do not have them yet but after a stunning run of 2.5 thousand'm happy and would recommend. The look gives 6 to compensate for the overall assessment of the ice, I think frankly with this field (ice skating) is unnecessary because someone gives you a high score on the ice it or it was not on the ice or have studded tyres or chains. Opinion from outside the UK

After traveling 4,000 km on these tyres in the past two months I write about them a few words. First, stick to the road perfectly dry, wet, snow and pretty good (for tyres) on ice. The wet tyres can be heard whistling (whistling), but it also depends on the type of surface (smooth asphalt, milled, etc.). I only objected to rolling resistance, which clearly feel during the change from summer tyres. In the summer I burned my car about 4.3 l/100 km, and on the winter burns about 5l/100 km (although you have to take a heavier patch on driving conditions). Suppose that the engines having more power difference in the combustion will not be so high. Besides tyres are quiet (quieter than my summer, not to mention whistling in the wet ;)) and very soft (inequality by much less pester). I do not know if I buy it again, because in a few years may no longer be the model or will be better. But if I had to buy at the moment, it probably would buy these tyres. Read more Collapse

Hello! Firestone Winterhawk is my 3rd set of Firestone stable which is one of the best tyre companies. For any to be disappointed. This tyre is doing very well in everyday driving. Higher levels of noise over the summer tyres is not at all I felt. The wet feel confident. In total snow feel full control of the snow-tyre cuts and steering movements are some (tested "side" road during aggressive driving). Snow on the ice, so to speak you know your tyres must have adequate time to catch a grip on the ice but we know what is good-spikes, not the tyre. abrasion-ride the second season and I see no significant loss of tread. Certainly pojeżdżę them yet a couple of seasons. I would recommend these tyres to anyone who wants a good quality rubber with an affordable price and fantastic driveability giving confidence in our Polish conditions. Opinion from outside the UK

I bought these tyres about 3 years ago. Previously, I did not use winter tyres, rode universal. But you know how something is for everything that is good for nothing. Overall tyres very cool and elegant in the snow, well disperse water and wet snow. Know hockey is not strong unless someone has some spikes or chains. Cool suppress unevenness but due to the fact that the wheels are quite small (175/70 R13) no revelation. I rate them positively. Prefers calm driving style but sometimes it harder to slow down, to be honest with stops in place. When it comes to the status of Randy after 3 years of minimal use. Compared with Debica Frigo hmm I think that there is nothing to compare: D definitely different class :) I highly recommend. For a compact toy cars are great :) I think they are better than the Fulda Montero my parents in the car but that's just my subjective opinion ;) With this money you will not find better ;) Read more Collapse

2.5 of the winter season and the tyres are probably withstand at least 2! Sensational excel when the way of snow. I took a chance and bought these tyres three weeks ago. For now, the tyres to be disappointed. It is known that the ice is not strong, but rusząjc car on slush or snow-covered tarmac eg slightly from the lights leave behind even a roadster! (I think the owners do not go quite this time of the summer tyres ..?). The car is business so I checked it out a few times extrermalnie, fortunately outside the public road, and really hard to move the tyres beyond the intended track. With a sharp entry bow on uślizgują a little dry but it is not yet winter tyres and slicks. Comparing it to the Michelin or Goodyear (these had recently) perform really well. You can always buy something better (and much more expensive), but as it is not a forester or the special services it :-) "Why overpay"! Greetings to all members (not just those Randy). I bought tyres online store following the opinions of other drivers found on the network. I would recommend this tyre without reservation. It has a relatively attractive price and very good handling in all weather conditions. I was afraid a little bit of noise, but I was kind disappointed. Does not differ significantly from the noise of summer tyres (Pirelli P3000). After the last attack I had the opportunity to test winter tyres in different situations and fared well, both on dry and wet roads and in the snow, whether it is compacted kopnym. Slightly worse was on the ice, but I think it applies to some extent, all of the tyres. I have to compare to winter Cormorants, Debica and Fuld Montero and Hołki ;) exceed them in all conditions, especially on wet and dry surfaces. Greetings to all road users and I wish you a safe trip! Tyres bought in autumn 07, station wagon, so a little weight. Frankly snow which poured in Lublin was not terrible. Keeping confident, the car goes where I direct it. Corners, nice and smooth, snow, as there is no ice, goes to the rails, Blowjob :-) unfortunately do not have the tyre spikes too hard so as zakręcimy we can go into the bushes. Overall, I think a successful purchase, the purchase price + 40 zł assembly and so I saved a little $ considering the prices of tyre sites. I have a second season tyres in place, continue to be confident to wear what you probably will be for 3 seasons, I did not notice that strongly clashed, on the contrary, still look pretty good tread tall, colorful stripes, I have to look at the tyre, but I think there are still a passata recommend :-) Read more Collapse

tyres rather than on alpine winter conditions (resp. Polish 15y.o. ago, when winter was winter). They are loud but the Fulda Kristall supremo (H) lack b.dużo. Also on wet behave well but they lack Fulda. However, winning in the snow - you know that each winter tyre is different and I advise you to follow carefully. As someone driving in the city and not venture into the mountains in the winter I would recommend a more Fulda Kristall supremo, if you live in the mountains of the Nokia WR2. This tyre is a compromise of the two but on the wet asphalt in the winter and light snow cover are great. Also in the present-day nearly 200 hp A4 kłatro excel on wet sensational - my car even with strong bursts does not lose grip - but it's mostly excellent advantage of the drive. Read more Collapse

Very nice tyres - bought after reading reviews on tyres.com. Very good value for money. I had the opportunity to ride another compact car with tyres Dunlop Ultra Grip 7 and I admit that I have not found differences in addition to the price! Open "heavy" snow without reservation, like the mokej and dry conditions. Of course, my opinions are based on "real" approach to the issue because if someone believes that good winter tyres on ice even stop in dry conditions as it is only downhill from such individuals to the side of the road. To sum up: it is a very nice tyre on our terms. I recommend! Note: tyres for the first 500 km have to "reach out" to get its proper parameters, especially recommended for the first 500 km when it is wet. Read more Collapse

As a vehicle using an ordinary mortal (for work, shopping, more trips outside the place of residence) I decided in the end to winter tyres. I'm not a specialist tyre and friends advised each other types. Therefore, the decision to purchase these tyres just was purely accidental and resulted from digging on the internet. I'm pleased with them, do well both on snow, slush and on a dry but cool asphalt. Well remove water. Differences can be seen best when driving immediately after the exchange of the summer and they will need to notice also by a good few kilometers get used. The same shop manual I'm also very happy. Their efficiency and professionalism stand at a high level. It decided to summer tyres also bought with them. Thank you for the advice. Read more Collapse

Well the lead both in the fresh snow kopnym and the pośniegowym mud. Entry into the snowy hill is not a problem. great handling in the corners, car rides on rails. On the ice ... hmm .. the ice is not strong without spikes. But, of course, and so it is a lot better than the summer chewing :). Behave properly as in the present, "nieśniegowych" conditions. Quiet :). Not to compare with Debica Frigo - beat her on the head. Definitely worth recommending to city driving and trips to the mountains. In rough terrain, off-road utardzonymi have not tested them. Relationship quality - price falls a plus. It is difficult to quantifiably assess consumption - drove enough miles. Tyres really recommendable, the snow keeps like a sticky, genuinely. A little noise at higher speeds in dry conditions but without exaggeration, impossible to survive, on average behave well in the wet (but I like every winter tyres). Generally a very good purchase, one evening during the snowstorm rushing quite hard to house, all the cars were traveling no more than 50 km / h, flew freely 80 km / h is not afraid to bend from the fall into the slide, above this speed I was beginning to slowly wear but still ahead of everything that was on the way (not speaking here about braking because I know the road is like an inch white but it is poor adhesion to talk about snow in terms of slipping back or forward bends). I would definitely recommend! Read more Collapse

The first day trip on these tyres in 2006 for the Golden Slope. Depart in the morning for a normal day, and the return of winter in total turmoil. Zero slips ahead of virtually all, The general rode about 30 - 50 km / h, and I was about 50 - 70 km / h This was the first test of these tyres, but przejeździłem quietly all winter for them, the second too, but many of the winter this winter was not. Tyres inexpensive, but great for me. My father, who described the journey took me, he departed from his previous belief that multigrade is OK, and a week later he was already a happy owner of a set of these winter tyres. I bought these tyres without much przekonaia after reading dozens of reviews on the internet. I drove on different tyres in the winter of 200 thousand km. These stick to the road, I did try to brake from 100 km / h on snow and sometimes does not activate the ABS, with a sharp slide off sometimes, but at a reasonable handling gas always moves up the hill. What to zużyciato only time will tell what the fuel consumption in winter not noticed the changes. With proper air pressure for a comfortable ride during the summer. Overall, highly recommended tyre but I do not know how to be at the higher passes so as KLEBERY as they are new they are great and the przejbigu about 20 - 30 thousand completely not suitable for the snow. Well, the time has come to share comments about the tyres after the winter - the settlement. I wrote on this forum right after purchase and assumption (October 2006) about these tyres in quite eforycznym tone and unfortunately after 8 thousand km's time for repentance and real experience of the tyre. First, it is not as quiet as I expected the opinions of others (I know it's winter tyre), and secondly on ice - wyślizgznych intersections have a lot of trouble to boot, thirdly, the compacted snow or doing average. But the remaining pros first: a well carried out after the loose snow and slush, the second well runs dry after each wet ii regardless of the air temperature and asphalt, and the third also wear decent Read more Collapse

I bought tyres in the previous winter season, also based on the reviews posted here. Tyres are OK, but it really is not the way I had to try them in winter conditions - unfortunately these are sea single day ... A word of caution, it is that as it's wet, it starts at the traffic lights with a sharp little tow. But for it to become braking on end! You have nothing to complain about. What to abrasion, is far too difficult for me to say ... I do about 10 thousand. km per year, so probably a little on them pojezdze. It is a little loud in the car, especially during acceleration August can hear the noise, but my car does not belong to the silent, so I do not mind. On the frozen snow or deal not bad. They are a little loud and a little worse behave slipping in the mud, but only a little. I bought because of the reviews on this tyre. Certainly plus is the price, but I used to look through the prism. My previous winter tyres are pirelli and I was pleased with them. Certainly the snow kept better and because of that Winterhawk is a harder tyre. For it is precisely for this reason on dry Winterhawk performs extremely well, ie no squeaks in the corners, does not leave a "rubber tracks" on the tarmac at a slight slip, etc. In summary a very good tyre at a good price but unfortunately this is spodziwałem. Because I like to ride extreme (hunting) I preferred the snow tyre that is typically soft and withdrawing from each snowbank. Cheers and recommend tyres to urban driving. Read more Collapse

I bought the www.tyres.com tyres'm pleased with them for quite a ride agrsywnej and loaded the car handle very well. Previously rode Kleberach (also good). A drawback, at least in my case, is their attrition, tyres overcame snowy trails as often as asphalt with plenty of salt and, unfortunately, after one season set of the front axle is much used (to compensate for the grip). In my opinion, rating tyres on ice is pointless because no free blocks will not have a good grip. Hi, I bought these tyres after long deliberation and hearing with local reviews. I use their second season. Was a very nice first impression, because the tyre is very quiet, there can compete with many summer (generally 5, but full of winter tyres 6). I live out of the way so we often have to commute the not cleared of snow roads. Very good tyre bites into the snow and keeps the corner, the ice can not handle the end as any without thorns. Drains water well, no aquaplaning. After driving about 25,000 seems to deep tread, so probably a long pojeżdżę. At the same time I bought my Winterhawk - and four other cars, all the praise. Tyres bought in mid-October. As it was not possible and I started at the beginning of November I could only test to 22 January in terms of dry or wet pavement. Great tyre for me to hold, especially during rain. As for the conditions of the snow, I'm a very positive happy. The snow tyre is doing well at start and at higher speeds (60 - 90 km / h). When driving in the snow you can not hear the noise, which when driving on dry or wet roads from 50 km / h tyres did a głośnawe. My assessment is that rather than another, because these are my first winter tyres and I have no comparison to others but for me for the price I am very pleased. Read more Collapse

most winter tyres ok, I will not say bad words! any problems, noticeable abrasion, good handling on dry and wet pavement in the winter temperatures! sweep the snow, but the little we saw it this winter :) przystepena price. pierced one to me, but it was a small hole, the air long kept, no problem repair. tested on a large route, complete person and full rack of 500 l very well behaved and abroad on our roads, though so slightly bent from the weight, even though it went up the pressure as the full load! burning a little bigger, but it zimowka! the 15/20 level have changed hastily, because on the ride and sign it behooves average :) Read more Collapse

I decided to buy these tyres last year, mainly because of the good reviews the drivers. This year was the first attack of winter he had the chance to see it was worth it to buy these tyres. In short, excellent quality tyre at a reasonable price. In normal driving (as in winter conditions) I had no problems with the car running. Looks a little worse driving on ice but probably does not have the tyres that would itself on the ice without a problem given the (well, maybe so with metal spikes). Also deserves praise tyres.com portal for professional approach to the matter because here I bought these tyres - would recommend to anyone Read more Collapse

The tyre behaves very well in the wet: water, slush, good grip and water evacuation. However, I've been on them in the mountains and the snow, I think it's better for the summer ride. Kopny snow is compacted as well as an insurmountable barrier. I do not even want to move on compacted snow - car and driver, with no load in the city center. I had to remove the chains. A buddy of mine was with me in the mountains with his car on Kleberach krisalpach and much better. In very good wet braking but snow, snow is a tragedy. S 100 Cormorant go back! I've traveled all them Norwgię Sweden and are not insurmountable Read more Collapse

After the second season, I can say that they are comfortable tyres. With proper pressures remain fairly neutral. Car is handling, even where others end bumps. Although Absy strongly improve the stability of the car, but they have a worthy partner. In my second car Citroen Saxo and I have also Winterhawki car rides on them even in the summer! Conclusion? Attrition is very low. Adhesion is excellent. Noise? Not dopompowałem summer tyres after storage and after a month I noticed that I go to 1 bar. I thought it was the bearing. Now the tyre, I can tell you are really moderately quiet. I would recommend. Read more Collapse

Tyres are performing superbly in all conditions. I checked their efficiency at the maximum speed for which the tyre is designed and do not have the slightest comment. Fuel consumption increased slightly. Auto on the tyre is carried out on rails. Braking performance with ABS impressive. In severe conditions, the sharp mountain climbs and steep descents impressive snow. Riding on these tyres the second winter season and so far no slip road collision and yet I do not drive conservatively. Laguna II with 120 hp engine requires a good grip in all conditions. Senile yet successfully for two seasons. Read more Collapse
