Type: winter tyre

Class: premium – the best performance and top quality.

Intended use: passenger cars of medium and high class with powerful engines.

Tread: directional - V-shaped grooves ensure fast and efficient evacuation of water.

Sizes: from 15 to 16 inches.

Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 is a premium winter tyre designed for medium and high class passenger cars with powerful engines. The tyre reaches perfect operational parameters during braking on snow, ice and mud, ensuring road safety regardless of weather conditions.

The model offers superior braking on extremely difficult surfaces thanks to the large number of blocks on the shoulder and a large surface of 'cutting' edges. The tyre gives shorter braking distances on wet roads due to the use of stiffer blocks in the central part of the tread and a large number of sipes. On dry surfaces, excellent performance is supported by a stiffer belt. It makes the drive stable and the communication between the steering system and tyre faster. The model has a directional tread pattern, which works very well on wet surfaces. As a result of the arrow-shaped arrangement of grooves, the model more efficiently removes water, which translates into a lower risk of aquaplaning. The designers took care of the optimum distribution of forces acting upon the tyre. Consequently, the wear is slower and more uniform, enabling Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 to offer you full performance throughout its service life without worrying about deteriorating grip and other parameters over time. This model will meet the expectations of drivers who expect durable and reliable tyres.

Manufacturer Info: Continental is a manufacturer of premium tyres with excellent performance, comfort and maximum performance regardless of the road and weather conditions. The company owns the majority of shares in other companies including Barum, Uniroyal, Semperit, Viking and General Tire. Currently, Continental operates 22 production sites worldwide. The company has been supplying tyres since 1871. The headquarters of the company are located in Hanover, Germany.

    Opinion from outside the UK

The size of my Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 tyres is 185/65R15. The tyres have very soft rubber compound - I thought that I would destroy the tyre when I accidentally hit a hole. The behaviour of the tyres in dry conditions at 90 MPH is marvellous. They are almost inaudible and do not mix with the sound of the engine (1.9 DCI). I also had an emergency situation at ca. 50 MPH - I had to make a sudden maneuver, and the car didn't swerve at all. The car behaved exactly as I wanted. The behaviour of Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 on wet surface is also very predictable. I could drive through deep puddles of water without any problems. Braking is also good. They don't fall into aquaplaning, both during sudden braking (ABS is switched on, of course) and in the corners. And now the best. Behaviour on snow. Paved road, snow, speed of 45 MPH and the car behaves as if it was on dry surface, even in tight corners! I had a situation where the guy behind me was driving an Audi 80, I don't know what tyres he had, but he was on my rear bumper almost till the end, where he swerved off into the outside lane (luckily it was free). When it comes to behaviour on ice, of course there will be no miracle and only studded tyres will be good. However, I can recommend Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 with a clear conscience. Opinion from outside the UK

My Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 already passed their first test. In comparison to Goodyear Ultra Grip 7 they are generally quieter, but can be loud in the corners; they are also a bit louder on a thin layer of water and bumps, but on the other hand, they are firmer and handle better despite being T-rated. They behave even better on snow and frozen snow, or actually ice - when going uphill on 5th gear, ASR doesn't even have to react during accelerating. They are simply sensational when braking - even my wife was surprised that ABS doesn't switch on. Just as UG7, if Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 lose their grip they instantly gain it back after releasing throttle or brake pedal. Driving up the icy hills in the forest isn't a problem. Braking in dry and wet conditions seems to be better. There's no aquaplaning on straights. They often lose traction on snow and ice but 160 BHP and 250 Nm at 1500 RPM do the job here. Generally, our impressions after first drives are very positive, even despite the fact we were "gifted" with Romanian-made set. But it looks like Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 preserves the high quality, no matter what. Their visual side may not be superb, but the tests only confirm how good the tyre is. I definitely recommend. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Before I bought Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830, I used some Michelins. They were really bad. Maybe because they were a bit old already. But the tread was about 7 mm, so it's hard for me to say. In any case, in the corners they may the car swerve off its driving lane, and on straights you had to be very careful I know one thing - I won't buy Michelins ever again. I have a bad experience with them even when it came to bike tyres - once when braking, my rear wheel swerved off to the side! This is just terrible. Dangerous for your health and life. As all other French products, I guess... However, Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is simply sensational. I forgot what it means to have a problem of driving out of snow or driving in deep snow - the drive is the same as in summer on a paved road. On ice they slide a bit, but it's normal. What's important - you don't lose control on the ice and you can feel and see that you slow down when braking. I have a heavy car - 1700 kgs, with a big 3.0 l engine, and rear wheel drive. These tyres really give me a feeling of safety. You can drive confidently even at higher speeds. I can recommend Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 with all my heart, they are simply great, and I'm totally satisfied with this purchase. Read more Collapse

I searched for a tyre for all surface types for a long time, and I finally chose Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830. I drive a Ford Mondeo MK4 1.6 EcoBoost with 160 BHP, and there are no problems with the tyres transferring such power to the wheels. They are quiet and stable. They handle very well on the motorway, even at 120 MPH and don't cause the car to swerve out of its driving lane in the corners. I tested them in deep snow and Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 easily made the car go forward, even when I started to push some snow along with my front bumper. In the parking lot where the car is, snow ploughs drive very often, creating humps as a result. Some cars can't go through them, while I can easily drive in and out. It also does a great job on fresh snow. On ice only studded tyres can be 100% good, but these ones also do pretty well. You just have to be careful with the throttle. It can also be a fault of high engine power. I am a professional driver, so certainly I'm not inexperienced. For me, Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is what I was looking for. Once I had Debica Frigo and also praised it but these outclass them in every way. I would these tyres in this size. And the store as well. Nice contact and fast delivery. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Well, I have to say that this is the best winter tyre I've ever had. Unfortunately, my experience is very small. Previously I used Barum, Uniroyal, Goodyear, and Semperit tyres. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is the best winter tyre which outclasses all the others. The first impression after leaving the workshop - tyres weren't replaced! I couldn't believe they were so quiet on dry pavement - and they were. I have Goodyears for summer, and they have the same noise level, if not a bit higher. It was unbelievable. So, I decided to hit the motorway - and I was amazed, they were still as quiet as before. I waited for the rain then, I got surprised yet again. I was shocked by the way Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 gripped in the corners and braked. Of course, I don't compare them with Barums, but with Uniroyals. An then finally, it snowed. And it turned out I've never had such a great tyre, both on snow and on slush. Even on the side roads covered with snow (unpaved) the car went like on tracks. The only drawback is the price, especially the one at the moment, but I do not regret a single penny spent on Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 (I got them much earlier and much cheaper). I definitely recommend. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I switched to Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 from Dunlop winter tyres. It's a completely different tyre - of course, my old winter tyres were after three seasons and only had half of their tread, so it's hard to compare with a new tyre, but I remember how the car behaved on new Dunlops and how it behaves now, on new Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830. We all know how the winter looks this year. I read tests etc. and I decided to get these tyres, which was the ADAC test winner, and I was not disappointed. The handling of the car is incredible on these tyres. I would like to add that I drive a car with rear wheel drive. ESP and ASR switches on much later. and you have full control even in a light slide. I also got shocked when I started to brake. This tyre brakes sensationally, I don't want to say it does like a studded tyre because I would exxagerate, but overall the braking is great. I definitely can recommend Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 with a clear conscience. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 are fantastic, I had the opportunity to drive a lot on snow, ice, wet and dry pavement. I never got stuck in snow, never lost control, never felt afraid or uneasy. Recently I was leaving the place covered with over 30 cm of snow, and the car was standing there for a couple of days. I was gathering snow with my front bumper, and they did a great job - they pulled the car out, and didn't spin even a little bit! With a large and heavy car i was a feat these tyres should be respected for. The car handles confidently and in a stable way. The tyre is huigh quality and predictable. Also, I can compare them tu Goodyear UltraGrip 7+, and despite the fact that traction is comparable (with a small advantage of Conti), then when it comes to wear and noise level, Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is better. Way better! Read more Collapse

These are my first winter tyres so it's hard for me to compare them with some other models, but they behave as I expected. Low noise level while driving, great look, and you can easily plough through the snow and slush as if you were on dry pavement. As for driving on ice, I can't assess it properly as I don't recall driving typically on such surface. On dry they also behave well. In higher temperatures they become sognificantly softer so it's worth changing to summer tyres as soon as winter ends. I did ca. 4200 miles in winter and I can say that Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 makes your ride very comfortable. I didn't notice any signs of wear after this period. Overall, I am very pleased with Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830. They do the job just as I expected and I recommend them with a clear conscience. Read more Collapse

I used an opportunity to get "almost new" tyres, and that's how I got my set of these tyres. I hesitated a bit, because even despite the fact most reviews here are positive, there are also those which state the noise level is higher. I'm "sensitive" when it comes to noise level because I happened to get tyres which were so loud at 55 MPH that I couldn't put up with the noise. Eventually, I decided to buy Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 and I don't regret my choice. Very quiet, a bit louder on wet, but generally they fit the standards, like all winter tyres. I didn't have a chance to check them on snow and ice yet, but I think they will do just fine. What surprised me the most is that on Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 my fuel consuption is lower than on summer Uniroyal tyres! Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 were quite expensive. But after driving one winter season on them I don't regret a penny spent on these tyres. Driving on snow, wet and slush is sensational. Every time the sand trucks were not on the streets yet, I was the first one to start from the lights. Other drivers were struggling to gain some traction - and I was able to simply drive away. Another advantage is the noise level. They are practically inaudible. For summer I have Michelin tyres and they are much louder than these tyres. The only drawback I can see is their behaviour in the corners on dry. The car behaved strangely (swerved a bit) on fast dry bends. However, overall Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is a tyre worth buying! Read more Collapse

Previously, I used some other tyres which were really poor. Maybe because they were a bit old. But they still had about 7 mm of tread, so It's hard to say. In the corners they were a disaster, as well as on straights. And my new Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 were fantastic. I forgot what problems with snow are. They slightly slide on the ice, but it is typical for every non-studded tyre. What is important is that you don't lose control both on ice and snow, even when braking. I have a heavy car with a large engine. These tyres really give you a feeling of safety. They are quiet even at high speeds. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 can be definitely recommended, they are fantastic and I am very happy with my purchase. Read more Collapse

I only did one season on my Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 tyres, because I changed my car and unfortunately they didn't fit, but I can't say anything wrong about these tyres. My previous winter tyres were Savas, which were a complete disaster - I wouldn't take them even if I was offered a set for free. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 performs excellent on snow, wet and dry. I didn't notice any signs of rapid wear, and I have an aggressive driving style. I am very pleased with them and I will definitely buy these tyres for my Mazda 3 MPS, and when it comes to "tyre specialists" who say that it's weak on ice - no non-studded tyre will do good on ice. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 is a very good tyre in my opinion. Previously, I used Debica tyres (I do not recommend them, definitely). When driving at about 50 MPH on wet pavement, I almost crashed the car in the corner where normally you can go at 60 MPH - I got swerved off the road and spun around, on Debica tyres! I did the whole winter on these tyres on slippery surfaces without any incidents. They provide very good handling, you don't encounter any problems with starting on snow, just like on my summer Pirelli PZero.Overall, I am definitely satisfied with Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS 830 tyres and can frankly recommend them to everyone. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 are my first winter tyres, since this is my first car, but it doesn't mean that I have no experience, because every day I drive a lot of cars, from vans to large SUVs and covered more mileage than many so-called "experienced drivers". I have them fitted to a VW New Beetle with 1.8 T 150 HP engine. I decided to get 205/55R16 tyres because I had an opportunity to drive on 195/60R15 tyres and I felt they were too narrow, even for winter. Continental ContiWinterContactTM TS830 do quite a good job. I think they could be a bit better on snow, but I find them very good anyways. Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContacTM TS830 are generally very good tyres. Their advantages: they are quiet and they provide very good traction on snow, wet and frozen pavement and on snow - in my opinion, they are pretty good but could be better (I didn't have any comparison, but I just have a feeling it could be better). The drawbacks of these tyres I noticed are rather minor - with lower pressure they may swerve a bit, but it's not problematic or intense. I purchased the tires 3 years ago and I covered almost 30000 km with complete satisfaction. I tried them first time on roads covered with snow reaching 100 km/h without ESP help. On ice I managed to climb 7% slopes with 40 km/h with ESP help, however the stability was outstanding for those conditions. Tires wear is only 2 mm from 8 mm and I believe that next 2 winters wll be OK running with this set. What is the winter of this year, we all know. I have read the tests, etc and I decided to accounts Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 (ADAC test winner 2009/2010) and are not disappointed. The car on the tire is checked easily. Let me add that I drive a car with rear wheel drive. ESP and ASR blink much later. even in a light car slippage is controllable. A shock I felt I started to brake, the tire stops .. amazing, is not to say that, as if it were on the tips because this is an exaggeration, but something like that. The tyre has very good characteristics. I live in a place where driving home must overcome considerable elevation of the corner at the same time. Very good tyres for the winter. Great stick in the corners and in slush. Especially good hold on the water and in the rain. Very low noise level. Minimal attrition after one season is not noticeable. Very well proven in the Vectra c 150HP. Recommend, well-balanced price-performance ratio. Read more Collapse

Unfortunately, after driving about 4 thousand. km tyres on the front axle to wyząbkowały, despite the correct pressure and alignment - unless of acceleration. Unfortunately, it turned out that the tyres very loud whistle on a smooth, wet asphalt, but it may be due to wyząbkowania. Read more Collapse

Tyres definitely recommendable, excel sensational in conjunction with ASR allow you to move in mountainous terrain in the winter, in many cases without the use of snow chains. Tyres very quiet and well cushioned. After two winter seasons does not show signs of excessive wear Read more Collapse

Until then drove on the tyres one season and all is as it should. The snow and slush car performed safely and stably. Tyres surprised by braking and good traction in various conditions. We'll see how many seasons withstand but so far it hit purchase. I would recommend. Read more Collapse

Przejeździłem all season and I think they do work, low abrasion, soft and pretty quiet. In dry conditions-cool, wet-quite safely in the snow-ok, hockey-only that it's better than summer. They cost a little bit but it was a good buy. So rode safely recommend. Read more Collapse

Very good tyres for a reasonable cenę.Dobrze meet the needs of dry, rain, snow, a little "bears" car in slush (I esp, as there were no surprises). Not driven on the ice, so I can not judge. Overall, I am satisfied with the tyres, I would recommend. Read more Collapse
