Tyre details:

Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P is a winter tyre intended for use on high-end passenger cars. With the application of an asymmetric tread consisting of two sections, it performs very well both on a dry and wet surface.

A large number of tread sipes ensures a better grip and excellent braking force on wet and icy surfaces. Optimum traction was achieved thanks to the large number of blocks in the tyre’s crown ply. It also includes sinusoidal zero-angled sipes, which help to maintain an appropriate grip on snow. Stable driving in extreme weather conditions is ensured by a large number of transverse tread edges and numerous edges running along the tyre’s circumference. As a result, driving on snowy and icy roads is safer and more precise. The innovative tread ensures quick water drainage and a high aquaplaning protection. The tyre also performs excellent on dry surfaces. Its tread, divided into many sections, and the good support for its individual blocks ensure better driving and precision of steering. Even distribution of block stiffness ensures the optimum distribution of pressures on contact with the ground. This results in a slower and more gradual wear of the tread, which brings a longer tyre life. This model is the perfect solution for drivers who apart from full performance and excellent behaviour in extreme conditions, appreciate the comfort and pleasure of driving.

Information on the manufacturer:

I was driving to Germany in Christmas 2014 so had to buy winters but I only do around 5000 miles per year so didn't want the expense of separate wheels and both winter / summer tyres. I checked Continental's UK website and they recommended in the UK, if you are only to run one set of tyres, winters would be preferable. I purchased the 830Ps after seeing them rated top in a number of winter reviews but, more importantly, finished above budget brands in a summer tyre review (most people are concerned about winter performance in summer). Personally, I have had no trouble on these tyres, they have gripped well in all conditions from sub zero to 25 degrees c in the summer and in both wet and dry. Note, I have not driven in snow but would expect them to perform well. I have a reasonable right foot and like a good brisk drive through the countryside occasional :-) - in terms of wear, I just had a check up at local BMW dealer and after nearly 1 year and 5k miles the fronts are still close to 8mm and backs are at 7mm so plenty of wear left. I have a mix of mainly town traffic driving but occasional 200 mile motorway journeys. The are quite noisy and I do feel a little more bumpy than previous summer tyres but overall not to the point of being annoying. If you're looking for winters at normal tyre sizes without having to buy two sets then I thoroughly recommend these tyres for your BMW. Read more Collapse

I spent a lot of time reading reports and researching which tyres would be best for my BMW in winter especially as I was working well outside of town in a countryside area prone to snow and non-gritted roads in winter with some steep inclines on the route so the potential for difficulty in winter was high. When the snow did come I can only say I was so pleased with the results as I steadily made my way up a 1in4 looking at all the cars that were struggling or had just been abandoned by the roadside waiting for someone to pull them out... even the idiot in the Audi A4 trying to skate uphill on the wrong side of the road into oncoming, downhill traffic round a blind corner because the snow build up appeared lighter on the other side... (I often wonder what happened to him) All in all brilliant tyres in snow, slush and just cold & wet conditions. MPG suffered slightly as you'd expect but thats a fair trade off for safer handling and improved road holding. I probably left them on a bit too long after the winter and in warmer, dry conditions they are are too soft and MPG and handling took a real hammering but then that's not what they're designed for. Winter performance was so good I'm almost looking forward to next winter just so I can have a chuckle at all the people who can't be bothered to switch to winter tyres. Read more Collapse

Had same type on my Citroen C5 tourer as all-year round tyres - easily still winter-class tread after 30,000 miles. These newer lower profile run-flats ar on my Citroen C6 - a BIG HEAVY car. Trip to French Alps in soft and packed snow showed them superior in grip/control compared to those in chains - no problems anywhere. Bit noisier than the ones on my C5 but then lower profile and run-flats so expected Drive a lot in UK on motoways below 7deg C so get a lot of testing on cold weather suitability - wouldn't drive on anything else (I keep them on all year - get good treadwear even so). Deep tread superb for the water-covered skid pan also known as the (Merseyside) M62... Read more Collapse

I am pretty satisfied with Continental ContiWinterContact TS 830 . Previously I had the chance to test them in Italian mountains and I have to say that they impressed me pretty much. My ESP system turns-on very rarely. In my previous tyres I had to put chains on but those Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P performs very good without snow-chains. I have to say that with temperatures above 10 cellsiuss my car is swimming on corners, but I think that it is normal as it is winter tyre and the rubber compund is getting softer once the temperature is going higher.I do not regrett my purchase and definitely I do recommend Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P. Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P is a model which I used to put in all of my cars. I had them on my Laguna, Ibiza, Astra and now they are on my Volvo. It is very hard for me to point out even a single disadvantage of the ContiWinterContact TS830 P tread. Although the price isn't relatively low in comparison to other brands on the market, but I am sure that it is worth to spend a bit more money and be absolutely sure that you are safe, rather than going for a cheap budget chineese tyre which can be lethal actually. My priority is safety and comfort of my passangers that is why I always wear Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P during winter. Read more Collapse

I have to say that after driving about 12k miles in winter in 2013/2014 season where the winter was not that snowy. Thanks to that it seems that my tyre still has about 6-7 mm of the tread left. Taking into account the fact that my Pirelli PZero after making exactely the same mileage in summer were damaged pretty badly seems like Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P are very good if the winter is not so hard. I am not saying that in hard winter conditions ContiWinterContact TS830 P will perform worse I am just saying that I had no chance to test them in real winter. Hoping for next winter to be a bit harder. Read more Collapse

I have to say that Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P is ok but for such a high price I think that the quality is not good enough. I used ContiSportContact during summer season and I was pretty pleased with those so I thought that winter tyres from Continental should be brilliant as well. I have to say that while cornering on my ContiWinterContact TS830 P I don't feel too confident. My car seems to swim which is actually an awful feeling. I have Michelin on my second car, and they are way much better than those ContiWinterContact TS830 P. Read more Collapse

I drove just one winter season on those Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P and they were performing absolutely amazing. I saw on facebook that some people do complain about this winter tread being not appropriate to powerfull cars (200bhp+). My Audi S4 has 400BHP and those ContiWinterContact TS830 P were doing good. It is obvious that on dry or wet tarmac they won't be that amazing as summer tyres but that is their purpose, they have to be good on snow/ice. All in all ContiWinterContact TS830 P worth my recommendation. Read more Collapse

Advantages of Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P : easy to balance, very durable, on mud and snow or dry tarmac they perform without issues. Very good braking performance on every surface. A big advantage is that there was no wobbling after puting the tyre onto my car. I have to say that after 15.000 miles still I have no sign of visible usage. Also the noise level is pretty low. In comparison to my previous Kleber, Continental ContiWinterContact TS830 P are much better. Read more Collapse

Another set of tires that the manufacturer in another car and can confidently say that the tires are worth the money. Previous similar model drove the Passat (summer) tour (summer), Galaxy (winter) and now just bought a galaxy summer. I've tried various so-called replacements from the same factories as branded tires (not recommended), Michelin, pirelki, Debica. Finally, I put on Continental and recommend to friends. When it comes to durability, it can wear out a bit faster than the cheaper copies, but they give a good sense of control on the road. Slush and water are definitely better than winter, so always after a period of intense snow quickly jumps to the summer. In the rain you can safely heat the highway and it does not happen aquaplaning. Other criteria as noise, attenuation, durability and appearance are less important to me, but I think everything is just fine. Tires are an important part and it is worth a little pay extra and have decent equipment and the peace of mind while driving. Read more Collapse

Branded tires and it turned out that I bought a dud! 2 times a complaint! Balance the tires did not go as a result of a large tire runout. .... Even 14.5 kg. Your tires a little beat of .... the sides to the top. ... The balance to 0, and tens of kilometers driven again showed no 25g 15g 10g. Loud and do not have anything to do with winter tires. A Failure! The tires are manufactured in Portugal, so beware. Tires very good, allowing for comfortable and safe driving in winter conditions, but also perfectly viewing on a dry surface.
