The history of the Škoda Superb dates back to 1934, when the Mladá Boleslav factory began production of a luxury saloon known as the Škoda 640 Superb. This model featured relatively powerful engines, offering 55 hp and even up to 96 hp, enabling a top speed of 135 km/h. A civilian version of the Superb served as the basis for the prototype 3000-15 KFC model, which featured four-wheel drive.
The modern era of the Škoda Superb began in 2001 with the launch of a D-segment saloon built on the platform of the fifth-generation Volkswagen Passat. A concept version, named Montreux, was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2001, and series production under the name Superb commenced in the autumn of the same year. In 2006, the model received a facelift, introducing redesigned front and rear lights, additional paint colour options, and a refreshed radiator grille. The luxurious Laurin & Klement trim level was also added to the lineup. By mid-2006, Škoda had produced 100,000 units of the Superb.
The second generation of the Škoda Superb made its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008. This version featured a liftback body style with the silhouette of a traditional saloon, made possible by the innovative Twindoor system. This design allows the boot lid to open either as a conventional saloon or together with the rear window, like a hatchback. The engine lineup included three petrol and three diesel options, with power outputs ranging from 77 kW to 191 kW. Four-wheel drive versions were also available, utilizing Haldex technology. The second-generation Superb was offered in both saloon/liftback and estate body styles.
The Škoda Superb comes factory-fitted with 205/55 R16 and 225/40 R18 tyres. Optional tyre sizes include 225/45 R17 and 225/40 R18.
