The Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV is a premium tyre dedicated to 4x4 vehicles and suitable for occasional off-road driving. These vehicles demand more from their tyres, especially in terms of durability and wear resistance, which is why the French manufacturer is offering a reinforced version of its flagship all-season tyre.
The CrossClimate 2 SUV consistently ranks among the top performers in a majority of tests, demonstrating excellent capability in both summer and winter driving conditions. When designing the new version of this iconic all-season product, the engineers adopted a new approach to the demands placed on the tyre. Originally, the CrossClimate family was intended to be a summer tyre with approval for winter conditions. However, the situation has changed, and today they can compete with models for the winter season, especially during milder weather.
To achieve the best handling characteristics, the designers used thermo-adaptive polymers in the formulation of their products. This eliminated the phenomenon of the mixture hardening under the influence of reduced temperature. As a result, grip in sub-zero temperatures is significantly better than with summer tyres.
The tread has also been redesigned. Its sculpture on the CrossClimate 2 SUV, as on the previous model, is directional. However, its in-service performance has been improved. Thanks to deep 3D sipes and grooves that widen towards the wheel axis, vehicle handling remains comparable right up to the wear limit indicated by the TWI symbol.
The SUV version of the Michelin all-season tyre not only delivers excellent performance regardless of weather conditions but also meets the requirements for load capacity and speed – the vehicles it is designed for are typically heavier models with more powerful engines.
