Information on the tyre: Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is a winter tyre designed for medium-class vehicles and compact cars. The model performs very well in extreme weather conditions and ensures an excellent grip. Due to its directional tread, Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 features an adequate grip both on dry and wet surfaces.

Braking distance on snow and ice has been reduced thanks to the increased number of blocks and sipes. Better transmission of transverse forces during cornering comes from the use of more tyre edges. With this, driving is stable and comfortable even in adverse weather conditions. The designers have increased the total number of sipes on the tyre and this translates into more efficient water drainage and thus, better grip on ice and snow.

The model also features a better transmission of lateral forces which was obtained with the use of a harder filling material and additional bead toe reinforcement. With such a design, the tyre ensures better driving and lower rolling resistance which translates into reduced fuel consumption. All of this makes Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 very economical in use.

The tyre was made using a modern compound, which makes for slow tread wear. Due to this, Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 has an extended life. The tyre is a very good solution for all drivers who appreciate grip and road safety just as much as excellent performance.

Information on the manufacturer:

Continental is one of the largest tyre manufacturing groups. Their models are in the premium rated segment, which means that they are characterised by top quality execution and excellent driving parameters. Continental have 22 production plants located all over the world. Apart from their own brand, they are a majority shareholder in such companies as Uniroyal, Barum, Viking, Matador and Semperit.

I travel quite a lot, especially on good roads - European motorways with Audi A6 car with a powerful petrol engine. The vehicle has a lightweight sports character, which takes full advantage. Winter tyres, which is mentioned, Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 premium-class tyres with speed V (up to 240km / h) theoretically should meet my requirements. And did it. But I’ll start from the beginning. After the first kilometers traveled after your purchase I was pleasantly surprised by the properties of the tyre. Excellent grip on dry roads, the wet - also great, the tyre was definitely quieter than the other used until now by me. Winter 2014/15 as we all remember not abound in the snow, and I had no opportunity to fully test its winter properties. The whole car behaves perfect. Of course recommend this tyre, and the shipment from OPONEO. I had no problems with purchasing. The wet grip is excellent and the tyre perfoms very well in the deep snow. Last winter I had Debicas and there is no comparison. Continentals – as a premium brand- beats it well. The price is also a bargain. I can honestly recommend Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 to all of the drivers who like to feel safe on the road in winter. Read more Collapse

I bought Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 as soon as they appeared, as the latest model. So now will already 3 winter on these tyres. I drive mostly in the city, from time to time somewhere further. Great city tyres. On dry very well, but only to a temperature of 10 degrees above feel like August bend in the rapidly taken the turns, and have an impression that they are too soft. In temperatures below 0 perfect. At 200km / h, no vibration (steel wheels). On a wet revelation, directional tread works, it is one of the strengths of the tires, great drainage of water. Another plus is the quietness. I have the impression that quieter than the summer Dunlops. On compacted snow also you can afford higher speeds. Another plus is the shelf life of 3 season begin already on the tyres and you cannot see a substantial loss, I think that 3-4 seasons are yet enough. The drawbacks of Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is driving on the roundabout with mud, lose their grip. Another drawback is the fuel consumption, compared to summer tyres has increased by about 0.8-1L per 100km. But maybe it’s just for the winter. Generally if the city and to drive faster is recommended. Read more Collapse

I wanted to buy Firestone Multihawk 1 but they are no longer being manufactured, that’s why I was looking for tyres with similar tread – Continental ContiWinterContact TS850. I drove 1 season on Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 and I am very happy of that choice. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is very silent and I had an impression that the comfort is better with them equipped than with my summer Dunlops. It is very good on snow and I had never had any problems with getting out of snowy road. You have to be careful for the slush on a roundabout as the car may occasionally lose its grip but that might be due to the fact that I’m riding a diesel car with a large engine. Very good on wet but quite noisy. No signs of wear. The only disadvantage is the price – I’ve bought some time ago and few days later their price dropped down at 30%. Another disadvantage is fuel consumption, which rose at 1L every 60 miles. Nevertheless, Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is an outstanding city tyre. I have the T- version and I drove above its limit – no noise, no vibrations, simply perfect! Read more Collapse

Excellent tyres, drive Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 in a variety of weather conditions (the charms of the current winter) and the different surfaces (in the field, outside the city, in the city) and I am positively surprised with them. Very good drainage allows you to enjoy the ride, even in torrential days (a pity that I cannot say that about wipers - Continental can take my opinion into consideration and will produce a wiper because it certainly would be better than the current leading manufacturers in this market). In conditions typical of winter and the snow and slush excel sensational perfectly biting into a mass of snow and preventing skids. They are characterized by high resistance to abrasion of the tread, despite fairly aggressive driving on the expressway routes. I am sure that the buyer will be very pleased with the acquisition of these tyres and really the use of these tyres, I can say that it is worth the time to spend more to longer enjoy the pleasure of driving. I highly recommend Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 and all the tyres of the manufacturer. Read more Collapse

Opel Astra H tires in size 205/55 / R16 T. I bought it as a novelty on the market in 2012. Now it will be the 4th winter on the tyres and about 20000 km. Riding aggressively mainly around the city, expressways, highways, city. My impression is - on dry very good. I had the opportunity to go winter on the highway at a speed of 180-205km \ h (temperature of -5 degrees, dry road, a little more than let index runs the drive T) quiet confident handling, no beatings, braking too well. On a wet great, great directional tread water discharges, despite the 4 seasons you can go up to 120-140km / h during the rain. Breaking is also very good in the wet. The snow tyre also very well performs, never had a problem in order to leave the garage, despite 15cm of fresh snow. On compacted snowl you can afford higher speeds than the rest of the drivers :) Another plus is the slow wear, 4th season starts and there is approximately 5-6 mm. I would buy tyres just after a snowfall. Great tyres on city and highway. Definitely to drive faster. Recommended to all :) Read more Collapse

Previously, this car had Fulda Kristal Montenero 3 and made ~ 50k, on the Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 I am driving the second season, so did on them only about 10-15k miles. Contintal TS850 compared to Fulda Kristal Montenero 3: - Conti significantly lower life expectancy (by about 1/3 shorter lifespan than Fulda) + much better behavior on slush - despite previously only 136HP on Fulda had to gently manipulate the gas when overtaking slush. On Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 you can press the gas much harder which lead to much more reliable ice and slush, at speeds at which moved to Fulda on the verge of slipping on Conti TS850 car still firmly sticks to the road. + Slightly better in the snow, but here Fulda were still very good, and the difference is small. The driving experience relates to move in more or less equal proportions both in town, local roads and Motorways of Europe. Read more Collapse

According to most comments and tests, Continental ContiWinterContactTS850 met all my requirements. I had no problems with moving even from a deep snow or slush. Continental ContiWinterContactTS850 act like summer tyres on dry road, good handling on bands. Good water dispersion. It was hard to cause drift on Continental ContiWinterContactTS850, braking distance is decent. Noise level for me is very low, maybe lower than in Unioroyal RainExpert summer tyres. As for comfort, I’m not entirely satisfied, maybe due to high tyre pressure? I will decrease it next season and e will see. Tread is not touched even at a very massive car and sometimes aggressive driving. Despite my hesitatations, I recommend Continental ContiWinterContactTS850, even according to the fact that the previous Continentals were ‘dead’ in 2 seasons. Worth it! Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are performing superbly on both wet and dry conditions. Great in snow. I had the opportunity to test it during this year's winter attack and the famous Xavier. Snowdrifts and blizzards way that I was able to ride onthese tyres is simply a measure of performance for these tires. When others were stuck in the snow I calmly drove on without a problem. I just saw the look of some drivers who had to push and I went without support. I highly recommend. I had Kristal Fulda Montero 3 but Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are much better. I would recommend them to all undecided. Apparently winter is behind us but another driver does not save on tires to just buy and enjoy safe driving. Driving with that knowledge that we have in midfield during the winter adventures is essential. Read more Collapse

Tyres purchased after many hours of reading about the safety, performance, comparing parameters. As the tyres were carry what is the most important in my life, that my dear wife and our two wonderful children, I knew that I have to choose what is best, what is the safest. The choice was Continental ContiWinterContact TS850t. After using in a variety of conditions in the winter, snow, rain choice proved to be the most accurate, as accurate as 10 years ago, the choice of my wife. Tyres acquitted in August for a medal. All technical aspects manufacturer confirmed in practice. With the possibility of shifting time, I would choose the same product. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are fitted to Volvo v50 2.0D and behaves very good on wet and snowy roads, poorly on dry. The soft blend makes the car to run a little uneasy, especially when overtaking. Quieter than Summer ContiSportContact 5, fuel consumption higher by about 0.2, but it is a matter of lower temperatures. As a disadvantage that causes more of them do not buy this poor sidewall tyres despite the high profile 205/55 May two front tyres on the side of small cracks probably formed when they enter the hole. Previously on Bridgestone Blizzak I did about 3 seasons without any damage, were weaker for Conti in the snow, but driving on the roads cleared of snow much much better (almost like in the summer). Conti is good for a quiet ride in less of cleared areas of the country :) Read more Collapse

Tires made about 5000 km. Driving experience - very positive. Earlier in the winter I would for the GY 4seasons and were quite good, despite the fact that it was all season tyres. However, in most toured in the city. Due to the fact that I knew what is waiting for me this year (field trips), I decided to buy Continental ContiWinterContact TS850, I have them in size 195/65 R15. As for rolling resistance, I noticed no increase in combustion. Having contact with the snow - zero problems, slush - like the tracks, the wet roadway - no aquaplaning, good braking distance. However, the ice-covered road driving is a disappointment, vehicle inhibited on these tyres without a long slip of the speed of 85 km / h (admittedly with ABS, but this is ice). It is really worth to buy these tyres. Read more Collapse

My friend made me to buy Continental ContiWinterContactTS850, which are neither cheap nor equipped with an interesting tread pattern. Tyre is very detailed but it doesn’t make it more than a piece of rubber. It was put on my car in September after using the old tyres to maximum. Suddenly, the ride began quiet and comfortable. And so it remained even in low temperatures. The tyre sticks to road in dry or wet conditions. I live in a neighbourhood where you need to get rid of snow on your own. The car has to be capable of riding at snow, mud and ice. That’s the right tyre! I recommend to spend couple of additional pounds extra and buy them. Continental ContiWinterContactTS850 is capable of lasting 4-5 seasons and the difference from the cheapest Continental tyre is £25. Read more Collapse

Huge disappointment tires. I bought a "master test" and got the worst junk. From the outset, the car and the steering wheel slightly attracted to vibrate at higher speeds. For the second season I started back to the front. It was impossible to ride. At 100 meters, the car itself has changed lane on the highway. The manufacturer gave me money after two seasons of use and the more I do not buy this brand. In the place where the complaint was carried out confirmed that Cintinental has a record number of returns. For summer tires Continental, the new car also was the problem. Service could not deal with it, and I did not come to mind that the tires can cause the download. Only now have tied the facts, because the old, the first rubber are still in the garage. It’s my first time I AM riding Premium class tyres and I do not regret a single Penny spent on Continental ContiWinterContactTS850. Despite there was no Winter this year it happened to ride on ice where the tyre start acting in a very predictable way. I was hesitating whether to buy A4 due to less fuel consumption but it was irrelevant. Continental ContiWinterContactTS850 will grew old instead of wear after my annual 10000 miles. I highly recommend – it was an investment in safety for me which was paid. In tight bands, on wet road my car drives like on rails. To begin with, I am used to use winter tires from Debica F. .... But this year, t empted by a discount I decided to go for Continental ContiWinterContact TS850. I do not regret that decision for a moment. Maybe winter this year was not as severe, but tyres showed their class :-) Is the road covered by snow, or wet they are holding on very well!! And finally, the thing that surprised me the most: although Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are winter tires they are much quieter than my summer tires from Japan to the letter Y. ..... I have to note that driving is mixed (city / highway) so the velocities are different and tyre is doing just great in August. This year, the second car will be bought with the same tyres as well  Read more Collapse

I was about to decise between Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 and few other tyres… I added some extra cash and decided for the tyres cuz the ADAC results were very good and the fact that my wife uses my car as well. I don’t regret it. It is very good but a bit too noisy. The fuel consumption is low and road grip is also fine, no matter whether it is wet or dry road. I drive not so aggressive and the tyre sticks to the road like a train on railway. Resuming, for me the only disadvantage is that the tyre is a bit louder for a high Performance tyre but it is compensated by other features. If you are looking for a decent tyre, buy Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 – you will not regret it! Read more Collapse

To me Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is a very good tyre. My opinion considers only terrain driving in mountain snow and slush and outside the city. I’ve bought Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 in October 2013. Very pleasant surprise. I’m driving mostly outside the city and I have no negative opinions. Example 1: approaching a hill near Aberdeen on a soft snow with Nissan was one of a kind achievement ( it was the only car which completed this task ); Example 2: 25mph going car on an icy road from a hill on a distance of 15 meters managed to stop without colliding with anything. Earlier tyres didn’t provide such comfort in those two places. But winter is different each year.... Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is a decent tyre, good grip on bands and rough road. The only problem is braking: it can cause ABS to turn on in the most absurd moments ( aggressive driving is not taken under consideration ), making braking quite unpredictable and risky. It happened to me to ride Dębica Frigo at the same time as the tyre and the first ones brake better and drive on snow but lose their grip on bands. Michelin’s Alpine leave Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 way behind. I think that my opinion is not to be taken seriously as I have my car repaired ( suspension and brakes were exchanged ) so it’s condition had no influence on this judgement. Read more Collapse

I bought the Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 rather cheap, together with fittin in Harrow and straight away went for a return journey of 100 miles. Perfect, spring-like conditions, about 10 degrees Celcius and dry tarmac. It is quiet and grips through the bends. I had a chance to test them in a number of other conditions and i am sure it will fit the bill. The previous tyres, Goodyears, stayed on my car for five years, so I imagine they were to be trashed already. It also made me appreciate the brand new rubber. Overall, the Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are definitely to be recommended, however not if you like to push your car to the limit ;) Read more Collapse

Very pleased to have fitted winters. After lots of research went for Continental 850 after many positive reviews. My wife had to slam on in the wet and she called me to thank me for getting winter tyres and I had some Dingbat overtaking on the wrong side of the road in the wet and dark and hit the brakes and prevented a crash. I believe the tyres helped hugely at that moment. Wear seems to be very good. I'm far more confident in driving in the frost No snow at all to give that comparison however I have no doubts at all they would be excellent after initial impressions. I found Oponeo the cheapest and they arrived in the time stated. Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 after 6000 miles doesn’t show any signs of tread wear. For a higher price you have tyres which last many seasons and I drive a lot across the country on highways. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is silent, doesn’t lose its grip even in harsh conditions. As an advantage I have to add that it is doing great on ice ad in soft snow. Getting through snow drifts is not a problem for a car equipped with Continental ContiWinterContact TS850. Small disadvantage is that with large velocities, when the road is wet you can hear the noise. All in all Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is PERFECT! Read more Collapse

After reading a few tests and reviews the choice was simple - Continental ContiWinterContact TS850. Tyres hold up well on the ice, in the snow the traction is great, on wet without surprises, and on dry running better than in the summer Michelinach Energy Saver. Price-wise it is not a bargain, but more expensive tyres in accordance with the tests are worse. It seems to me that you invest and save yourself unwanted sensations with buying cheap rubber, not to mention the loss of material. Tyres help to provide low fuel consumption - no problem I achieved the level of Michelin (summer) and winter Barums beat about 1 liter / 100 Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 hold road very good in every conditions and in various temperatures. I have to add that I’ve been using Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 in BMW RWD. I didn’t slide and didn’t feel winter itself. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are very silent and durable. Lasted 4 years and I drove 24000 miles on them. Very good tyres, very quiet and well stick to the road no matter what the weather conditions are – aquaplaning or slashplaning is simply no threat. On ice Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 acts like every other tyre - not enough grip causes them to slide sideways. For me the majority of driving is 50% countryside, 30% city and 20% outside the city. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is doing great in winter conditions such as snow, icy road snow drafts. I can highly recommend Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 to every driver who does over 6000 miles each season. Price to quality is very good. Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are doing great on both wet and dry road. Moving forward and braking – no problems. I felt something like floating on bands but the fault lies in the air temperature. This year’s winter (13/14) can’t be called winter, actually. Floating was in 12 degrees above. When riding on wet grip, the tyre is a little noisy. It is not very troublesome. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are doing great on snow. I can’t specify the dry, but it didn’t disappoint me on the country roads in temperatures above 0 and pouring rain. Moving over a hill is very good. Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 holds to wet and dry road superbly. Driving on snow is secured and stable. Despite that I’ve been doing mostly city, but had the chance to go for field roads with lots of snow on it. Driving didn’t suffer from those conditions and you could barely say that snow was lying everywhere. Outside the city Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is doing very good, quite quiet, average fuel consumption a bit higher but not noticeably, comparing to summer tyres. I am using them first season but so far, I am very satisfied. Recommended. Read more Collapse

I’ve driver not enough to say anything. My main criteria is durability and it is not only about how much mileage you do but you need to use it for a very long time ( 5 – 8 yrs ). Comparing to my previous tyres, Nokian, Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are much quieter, similar road behaviour and I really count that they will be much more durable. I had to change Nokians on my second season cuz one of them was damaged after approaching a stone under the snow ( 10cm rubber piece had been torn off the rubber’s side wall revealing the carcass). I bought Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 before winter and have been riding them since November 2013 so my assessment is not complete, This year winter forgot to come to my area, so I could not fully check all the advantages of thetyre. I admit that I bought Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 for their advantages. That's what I noticed: so far is the tires are OK. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850's tread visually resembles a bear's paw. This makes the impression of sticking to the surface. The increase in fuel consumption is only at 0.1. You can't feel that Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is a winter tire. It's quiet and dry conditions is carried out as in the summer. I didn't try driving in drifts, because there was no way, but on slippery wet roads where other cars despite winter tires had problems with driving away, here everything was OK. Very good tires. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is doing good in each situation: on mud or in snow. The only issue I’ve noticed with the tyre is moving on wet with temperatures above 0 degrees. However, I still have the same issue with my summer tyres – maybe it’s due to my technique and higher torque. Comparing to my recent tyres ( Nokian WR ) Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is way better. Braking was smooth, sure and without fear. I don’t judge fuel consumption as I have driven not enough to notify any problems. Read more Collapse

Hello,Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 are mounted to Octavia II. Bought in 10/2013. Generally positive first impressions. However, due to the temperature of about 15 degrees, thetyre seems to be very soft. Feel is also while parking. It may cause slight floating. But I think that the more temperature falls the more stiff the tyre is. Appearance is the plus, so is the price and ADAC tests in 2013. After the winter, it will prove how it behaves on snow. I bought these tyres for my daily runaround. I bought them for winter, expecting we would have winter weather. It was a mild winter, so they did not see much snow and ice. They are still on the car throughout summer, I know they wear much quicker in warmer weather, but I did not want to buy another set for summer. What weather they have experienced, they seem to work well, and I would recommend them to anyone. Read more Collapse

It might be even a bit better in snow than on cold, frosen tarmac - you may find the wheels spinning and trying to find grip. And that is not happening with my car only, so I'm not really sure if it is the tyres or the BHP. It is good both in snow and on the tarmac. So yes. I am very pleased with the road holding and performance of these tyres and will be fitting the same ones for next winter as they hardly show any signs of wear, which is very surprising considering that I have travelled over 15k with them fitted. I drove less during winter. I try to avoid salt that is damaging my not new car. Despite of that I want my car to move onward when snow falls even with rear wheel drive. Mission completed! Wet and dry grip actualy wasn't different than on other winter tyres, but snow grip was better. On thing I can complain about is less comfort with more speed. Nevertheless, highly recommended. Evaluation of a M+S tyre is not possible as we had no winter this year. After X-Mass I went to Germany and there was no snow as well. You have to point something in the questionare so I gave a 3. My car is is mostly ridden on Highways. Now I have summers and after cleaning them up there are no signs of usage. Let's see how ContiWinterContact TS850 will do on snow and ice. Read more Collapse

The only drawback is the level of noise. You can really hear the difference between the summer and winter models. It is not that hard to live with thought. Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 grips quite well and so they offer a good feeling of safety. However, nothing buys common sense ;). Now I'm waiting for the snow to make a proper test. I don't evaluate durability nor torque of Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 cuz I drive to get to the point safe and sound and not to win the race. I think that Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 has a good grip on snow, wet road and sudden water hole approach. Comfort and safety are as high as can be. Recommended. Read more Collapse

Tyres are performing well, they will only be on the car for 6 months every year and this is the first of the six months just ended. Distance made question is answered bearing in mind that we have only travelled 3000 miles on them (wife's car) and she is very happy with them, feels safer during the winter weather. This is an absolutely superb cold weather tyre. Great all round performance. Great grip. Does everything you want from a tyre. I was able to achieve between 79 to 86 miles per gallon in my 2013 Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion 1.2 TDI wearing these winter tyres. I strongly recommend these tyres. Read more Collapse

Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 is the best tyre I have ever had. Bought them in Germany in march 2012, as a brand new release. Tested them in Alps and no matter if it's wet, icy or dry they are perfect. Especially when compared to Semperits I had before. My car: Audi A2. Read more Collapse

I would definitely recommend this tyre. It is no suprise Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 won mostof the tests. Great handling in snow and in wet. Relatively low rolling resistance, and smooth driving when it's dry. Perfect for people who like to put their feet down :) Read more Collapse

Oh it's such a great tyre. Low rolling resistance means cost-efficient driving, quiet (as for me), great handling in various conditions (tested with the first snowfall this year). I can recommend the Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 to all of you out there. Read more Collapse
