Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 features

The presented tyre is marked with 3PMSF symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake). It means that the tyre meets the EU requirements for winter tyres. The symbol is awarded after thorough tests of a tyre model in terms of snow grip.

Type: winter tyre.

Class: premium - the best performance and top manufacturing quality.

Intended use: passenger cars of medium and high class.

Tread: asymmetrical pattern - inner and outer side of the tyre differ. This solution provides the tyre with versatile driving parameters.

Sizes: from 15 to 19 inches.

Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 is a premium winter tyre. This model is made of the latest silicone compound that ensures tyre flexibility even in very cold winter temperatures. This material guarantees also long mileage. The product has an original, asymmetric tread, which ensures its versatile performance. It enables the tyre to adapt its properties to the conditions of the road. The tread blocks on one side of the tyre are arranged directionally. This solution provides excellent performance on wet surfaces. Therefore, the tyre offers high resistance to aquaplaning. In addition to the specific tread blocks on the surface of the tyre, the model also has wide perimeter channels and differently shaped lateral grooves. They are one of the most important elements of the tyre, as they provide fast and efficient evacuation of water and slush. Without this, driving in typical winter conditions would not be so safe and comfortable. Moreover, these grooves have profiled walls, which prevent water turbulence.

Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 also offers decent performance on slippery ice-covered surfaces. Special incisions of different shapes, arranged across the entire surface of the tyre perfectly cooperate with each other and make the tyre 'grip' the ground, guaranteeing very good traction. In addition, the sharp edges of the tread make the tyre perform excellently during acceleration and starting, and ensure short braking distances. The tyre also operates quite well on the bends. Additionally, the manufacturer took care of proper manoeuvrability and good traction. For this purpose, the tyre is fitted with a massive rib. Caution! The Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 should not be used on the same axle as the Continental ContiWinterContact TS 790 V.

Manufacturer Info:Continental is one of the largest tyre suppliers in the world, providing customers with premium tyres. Continental also manages other tyre companies as Semperit, Barum and Uniroyal.

I am rather surprised by the extreme and often unflattering reviews. Knowingly buying, the mere appearance of the tread does not encourage off-road driving. Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 have tread more road-legal and the conditions are great. I have a slope to reach the garage and I never had trouble with pull away. After the packed snow in the woods by the road (to work) often rode 70mphs. I haven't used ABS as I had no problem with the braking - of course, the way to grow. Those are the best winter tyres. I had (Dunlop, pirelli, michelin). Outstanding comfort! For urban winter conditions, or slush, packed snow, slush, ice, really nice. Most of the winter is dry. Perhaps there are better, but they are noisier and less comfortable. The only drawback to ContiWinterContact TS790 is a rather high attrition.

I do on average 8,000 thousand miles per month. I drove the Pirelli, Dunlop, Fulda, Michelin but what I experienced on the Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 during the snow is the same adrenaline. On wet and dry they are great. Especially when the winter so far without the snow. On the driveway to the house I had to for the first time in my life wear chains (12% tilt). Perhaps the narrower tyres behave better in the snow. Under each snowy hill trip was an amazing experience. A bulge appeared on my front tyre after the approach on the hole. I was forced to replace. Nokian WR 205/55/16 was put on, and suddenly the car calmly drove home not to mention the other hills. I would not recommend this size to large cars.

According to me, Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 is a very good tyre for dry or wet roads. Quiet, small rolling resistance and short braking distances on these surfaces are at a really high level. Perfect for this winter. Cons: only one but very important - in combination with the suspension not the best of my Avensis (this type it is) you can forget about traction in snow, slush - the weak force within. Old UG 5 were a lot better in this aspect. One opinion - good for the city on the road cleared of snow, poor beyond that. I changed the UG7 - better in the snow, better sticking to the road but turn a little too soft for temp 0 and a larger resistance (noise + burning).

55000 miles and 2 sets of Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 consumed. A lot rides on the routes and motorways. Weaker in dry conditions. Very soft. Well hold, but with a positive temperature makes them unstable in corners and quickly consume. I have not noticed increased fuel consumption on the highway, so rolling resistance is OK. As for a little more money Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 is certainly worthy of recommendation. Previously, I was using Debice Frigo. They also did not disappoint me, although there were a lot louder. I started saving now with Krisalp Kleber HP.

I've bought bought Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 a month ago. About the winter - nothing to say. When it comes to the area, I'm a fisherman and often ride on the river in the fall and spring. the tyres are alright and can get anywhere without a risk. I was droving the asymmetric Debica Frigo in the past and this is by far the number 1, I wish they could do 15. I have used many tyres and I think Continental ContiWinterContact TS790 to be number 2. I personaly do not recommend tyres with winter tread because they are by far worse than the asymmetric
