The Continental TKC 80² is the second generation of the legendary off-road motorcycle tyre from the German premium brand, which faces the daunting task of living up to its predecessor. However, several decades of experience with tyres designed for use on a variety of road surfaces have enabled us to achieve even better performance, offering improved grip and handling stability in both dry and wet conditions.
A tyre designed for freedom – the Continental TKC 80²
The TKC 80 tyre was originally designed for motorcyclists who want to ride wherever their eyes lead them. That is why it has been designed for both city driving (50%) and off-road driving (50%), so that nothing holds you back on your journey. The same applies to the second generation, which, thanks to its shock-absorbing frame, is designed to provide grip and suspension off-road, whilst still allowing you to enjoy riding on the road.
The redesigned tread of the TKC 80² tyre features a revised geometry of the stepped blocks. Compared to its predecessor, each row is slightly longer and features even tread blocks and spacing, resulting in a more balanced ride, greater predictability and improved grip across a variety of terrains. The shoulder blocks have also been shifted slightly to improve traction on loose, soft surfaces.
RainGrip rubber compound and an optimised tread pattern
The Continental TKC 80² tyre is made from a RainGrip rubber compound developed specifically for motorcycles. As a result, the tyre performs predictably, brakes more quickly and handles corners more stably on wet surfaces or in rainy conditions. This works perfectly in conjunction with the optimised tread pattern, which offers 17% more contact area with the road than the previous generation of this model. As a result, it significantly improves stability at high speeds and distributes loads more effectively, which translates into greater durability and resistance to damage.
RainGrip Compound
A rubber compound developed by the German company Continental for use in modern motorcycle tyres. It has been optimised to maintain high grip on wet surfaces. This is thanks to a special formulation containing active polymers, which help to reduce braking distances and maintain adequate stability when cornering in wet conditions.
