Volvo S70

The Volvo S70 is a mid-size executive sedan (E-segment) produced by the Swedish automaker Volvo Cars. Introduced in 1997, the S70 was available exclusively as a four-door saloon. It debuted alongside the estate version, the Volvo V70, and served as the successor to the Volvo 850, which was known for its boxy design and rectangular headlights. While the S70 retained many of the 850’s technical foundations, it introduced numerous upgrades, particularly in safety and technology. Notably, the S70 came equipped with dual front and side airbags, earning top marks in safety tests, including a maximum score in side-impact assessments. Its generous exterior dimensions contributed to enhanced crash protection, offering substantial crumple zones in the event of a frontal collision. The engine lineup included two 2.0-litre petrol variants producing 126 HP and 190 HP, respectively, as well as a 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 236 HP. A 2.5 TDI diesel engine with 140 HP, sourced from the Audi A6, was also available. The S70 was offered in five trim levels: Base, SE, GL, GLT (featuring all-wheel drive), and T5 (a high-performance version). Most trims came with a five-speed manual transmission, while the GL and GLT were equipped with an automatic gearbox. Standard features included ABS brakes and a modernized suspension system, addressing one of the key shortcomings of its predecessor. Production of the Volvo S70 ended in 2000, with no direct successor. It was effectively replaced by the slightly more compact Volvo S60.

The original factory tyre sizes for the Volvo S70 are 185/65 R15 and 195/60 R15. Optional tyre sizes include 205/50 R16, 195/65 R15, and 215/45 R17.
