Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is a compact SUV produced by the South Korean automaker Kia. It is the brand's second model in the small SUV segment, following the Sorento. The first-generation Sportage was manufactured with minimal changes from 1993 to 2004 and was built on the Mazda Bongo platform. It shared engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components with various Mazda models. The second generation was introduced in 2005 and was developed alongside the Hyundai Tucson, sharing the Hyundai Elantra's platform. This version was significantly larger than its predecessor, which drew criticism from fans of the original model. Additionally, the off-road capabilities that defined the first generation were diminished due to the collaboration with Hyundai. However, the second generation offered a more modern design and a notable improvement in build quality. In 2010, the third-generation Sportage made its debut, showcasing Kia's new design language. The SUV features bold geometric lines and sharp creases, giving it a more muscular and dynamic appearance. Depending on the trim level, power is delivered to either the front wheels or all four wheels. The all-wheel-drive system primarily powers the front axle and engages the rear axle only when slippage is detected. A lock mode is available, distributing power evenly between the front and rear axles (50/50), but it automatically disengages at speeds above 40 km/h. The Sportage is available with Kia’s own CRDi diesel engines as well as Hyundai’s R-series diesel engines.

The factory tyre sizes for the Kia Sportage include 205/70 R15 and 215/65 R16. Optional tyre sizes for the second-generation Sportage include 235/60 R16. Additional available sizes are 235/55 R17, 245/45 R18, and 255/45 R18, allowing for enhanced performance and styling customization.
