The Dacia Duster is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Romanian automaker Dacia, a subsidiary of Renault. It stands out as an affordable alternative to more expensive competitors, offering excellent value for money. For instance, the Duster is nearly half the price of models like the Nissan Juke.
The Duster features a straightforward, rugged design. Built on a modified Logan platform, it sports unpainted bumpers and wheel arch claddings that emphasize its off-road appeal. It is available in both 4x2 (front-wheel drive) and 4x4 (all-wheel drive) configurations.
To keep production costs low, the Duster shares many components with other models from the Dacia, Renault, and Nissan lineups. The windscreen and doors are sourced from the Sandero, while the front suspension is derived from the Logan. The 4x4 version uses a rear suspension system borrowed from the Nissan X-Trail.
One of the Duster’s key strengths is its high ground clearance of 210 mm. Combined with short overhangs and a compact wheelbase, this allows for impressive off-road capabilities. The 4x4 version offers three driving modes: "2WD" for front-wheel drive, "Auto" for automatic all-wheel drive engagement, and "Lock" for permanent all-wheel drive. However, it's important to note that the Duster is not a full-fledged off-roader, as it lacks a low-range gearbox.
Under the hood, the Duster is powered by either a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine. Inside, the cabin is spacious, offering room comparable to that of a typical compact car. The boot capacity is 475 litres in the 4x2 version and 408 litres in the 4x4 version.
