Asymmetric tyres are generally good for rear axles, but they have a tendency for feathering. However, reinforced blades which are connected on the edge are a great opposition to this phenomenon. Also, a bit worse grip on wet can be sensed. When it comes to Bridgestone Turanza ER300, there are no signs of feathering. Very quiet. Previous Bridgestone tyres with symmetric tread pattern got significantly feathered, the noise level increased very much, but the distance driven was 85000 miles in 6 years. It's difficult to assess rolling resistance and fuel consumption in the econimical aspect, the vehicle is usually used with a minimum recommended load. The appearance of the tyre won't satisfy pedants, but the tyre's practical, resistant to suburban holes. After ca. 40 000 miles there's still about 5 mm tread in the tyre's central part. On the sides it has lower, "stock" tread.
