Goodyear Eagle NCT5

Information on the tyre:

The advanced technologiesused in the tyre are a guarantee of cost-efficiency and a high level of safety. The tyre maintains its high performance parameters and ensures protection against aquaplaning in any weather conditions.

The model is produced with extremely durable rubber made from a high-tech compound using silica. This is good news for drivers who appreciate economical solutions. The tyre also provides high acoustic comfort . With the use of special notches on the shoulders, the noise generated during driving is minimised.

Aquaplaning is also excluded due to, among other things, a very high quality of the material used in its production. Even very challenging road conditions won’t pose any threat to the maximum level of safety. Solid execution of the tyre shoulders ensures driving stability and continuously good grip, even on bends. The use of longitudinal tread grooves provides good water drainage during heavy rain. The tread has a special pattern which minimises hazards on wet surfaces. When using Goodyear Eagle NCT5 , you can be sure that the annual fuel consumption will drop by up to 5%. The low fuel consumption means care for the environment, as less carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere. It is the perfect solution for drivers who appreciate ecological solutions.

You can put your faith in Goodyear, one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the world . The group has been active on the market for over 120 years. In Poland, they also sell tyres under brand names such as Fulda, Sava and Dębica.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I bought the tyres jointly with the car, so they were not the tyres of choice. I was not familiar with this model. I have W-rated tyres on the front axle and V-rated tyres on the rear. I drive a fairly heavy car - Mondeo Kombi ON. The front tyres seem a bit too soft, which bothers me personally as they rock the car when I make sudden movements, but they absorb bumps well. The rear ones are much harder, but they rumble for me (they are not very new anymore). I've already driven 20,000 km on them and the wear is pretty good (the W ones wear out much faster - they are softer and in addition on the front). The grip is not bad either, satisfactory in the wet and very good in the dry. As I haven't had these tyres since they were new, it's difficult for me to say how they behave when new. Generally, it is not bad, although I have the impression that I have driven on better ones (Continental Premium Contact2, Bridgestone ER30 Turanza). On these I'm bothered by a lot of rumbling (especially on the rear axle), but they're not too new after all, and they're already a bit worn out ( though it's not always the tyres' fault). When it comes to changing tyres I'll definitely buy them. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I had the tyres fitted on 8 inch wide rims which gave a slight stretching effect. They worked very well for their task. Both on dry and wet surfaces they gave sufficient steering confidence. Unfortunately their hardness has a negative effect on the suppression of unevenness. I have driven on them for two seasons, over 32,000 km in total, and the tread wear was about 3 mm during that time. I can recommend them to people who need a durable tyre and are not too demanding when it comes to cushioning bumps. Read more Collapse

I bought the tyres second-hand and put them on 8" wide rims, which makes them slightly stretched. After more than 10000 km in various conditions and on different roads, I can confidently recommend them. Both on dry and wet surfaces the car drives confidently, and I haven't noticed any excessive wear. The tyres are well suited for light stretching on the rim. In my case, despite the threaded suspension, they provide relative comfort when overcoming bumps on our beautiful roads. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

The tyres are hard as a peg, which results in them behaving quite poorly on a wet road. The manufacturer has gone over the top and created a product that aims to save fuel, but unfortunately this is paid for with rather mediocre grip on wet roads - most notably with braking. This is not the car's fault, I've also had the pleasure of driving the new 215/45/17" Croma on them and the effect is the same. The cheaper Firestone has safer tyres on offer. Read more Collapse

Hard tyre, quite poor ride comfort at lower pressures. Slippery in the wet as well as in the dry, ABS is the norm under slightly heavier braking. Rather a tyre for heavy cars or with soft suspension characteristics for long journeys and smooth motorways. Opinion from outside the UK

The tyre seems to be hard, so little tread wear. After 50,000 miles you can still drive a lot on it. Unfortunately, because it is too hard, it slips on dry asphalt. When it comes to wet driving it is faultless, it disperses water really well. You can hear a lot of things when driving, but certainly not the tyre. Overall a good tyre and it is difficult to have any complaints. Read more Collapse

Well matched to the car, great dry grip, beware of the wet when worn and on rear wheel drive cars. Can be damaged easily by kerbing, potholes, leading to non repairable deflation. Likely to suddenly deflate when past end of life, don't go on long journeys in this case. I did manage 160 km on a defeated tyre to get me home, just about, before ( well worn) tyre disintegrated. A quiet tyre, soft but not too soft. Ideal for SUVs. Fantastic ride on the autobahn at speeds of 170-190 km/h. Factory recommended for the Chrysler Voyager. I did about 85,000 km on the first summer change. I am now driving on the second change. These tyres are great for summer, but what they are like in winter I don't know. Read more Collapse

Hi. Tyres bought with the car. I have started my third season. I don't know how the other tyres behave but my driving style advises me against checking this. Next tyre definitely NCT 5. Unlucky all those who are unhappy with them, you have my sympathy. A predictable tyre that gives a feeling of safety and comfort. Regards. Read more Collapse

I found the tyre very pleasing. Purchased together with the car, was fitted only on the rear axle. Now I have a complete set of them, although they are used, but the tread is like new. A little noisier than Michelin but this is justified by their hardness. As for me, only NCT5. Read more Collapse
