225/40 R14 tyres are produced with dynamic family cars in mind. The size of the tyre can be seen on its sidewall where it is provided in a form of a string of signs. The first number expresses in millimetres the tyre's tread width (here it equals 225 mm). The second number equals the percentage ratio between the tyre's height and its tread width. In the case of the 225/40 R14 tyre it is 40% out of 225 mm. The last number constitutes the diameter of the wheel rim (provided in inches) on which the tyre should be installed.
