The Michelin Group is the largest European tyre manufacturer and one of the world leaders in its industry. The company is famous for innovative solutions and brands that are trusted by customers. The company was established in France in 1889 by Michelin brothers. Currently, the group has as many as 72 production plants in 19 countries (it has been present in Poland since 1994, and its factory is located in Olsztyn). The company manufactures tyres for cars and trucks, agricultural machinery, bicycles and motorcycles. The Michelin product portfolio also includes tyres for aircraft and space shuttles. For many years, the company supplied tyres for Formula 1 – it withdrew after the end of the 2006 season.

255/65 R16) tyres are designed for 4x4s (off-road cars and SUVs). The size of the tyre can be seen on its sidewall. It is presented with the help of strings of numbers and a letter which denotes the type of tyre construction ("R" - radial construction). The first number informs about the tread width of the 255/65 R16 tyre, here it is 255 mm). The second number equals the percentage ratio of the tyre's profile height to its tread width (in this case 65% out of 255 mm).
