Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

Tyre details: The Vredestein UltracSessanta was designed on the basis of an earlier model, the Vredestein Ultrac. Its optimised structure ensures even better road holding and steerability, regardless of the weather and road conditions. The tyre's unique design is the work of the Italian-owned Giugiaro Design, which worked on the revolutionary appearance of the UltracSessanta's tread.

The unique arrangement of the blades and grooves ensures that the tyre disperses water rapidly, preventing the vehicle from skidding or aquaplaning. At the same time, the Vredestein UltracSessanta offers outstanding handling on wet roads. Vehicle steerability and traction on dry roads have been improved compared to the previous model, making this tyre the perfect choice for any driver who prefers a dynamic and uncompromising driving style regardless of the weather. The ultra-lightweight rubber compound ensures lower rolling resistance and therefore reduces fuel consumption. This also helps to cut atmospheric CO2 emissions, making the Vredestein UltracSessanta more eco-friendly. The tyre's designers were also keen to ensure driving comport, and succeeded in making any journey with the Vredestein UltracSessanta a genuine pleasure by means of a unique structure which cancels out any tyre noise. The tyre is a particularly good option for drivers who place a premium not only on maximum performance, but also on driving safety and supreme comfort.

Vredestein is a Dutch-owned manufacturer which specialises in premium-range tyres notable for their outstanding manufacturing quality and supreme performance. The company owns production facilities in the Netherlands, Indonesia, Thailand and India, which manufacture not only tyres for passenger cars, but also for 4x4 vehicles, vans, lorries, agricultural vehicles and bicycles. Vredestein is also one of the few manufacturers to produce tyres for vintage cars.

    235/45 R18

    Review not verified

I bought Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in size 235/45/18 a month ago. I did ca. 1500 miles so far, but my first impressions are quite good First of all, they are more comfortable than the previous SportContact 2 I had. At first I thought that this was an illusion (because I have NEW tyres), but after a long drive I can confirm it was not. Also, I previously had higher profile tyres. The driving comfort is good. Cornering grip is comparable to the more expensive tyres such as Continental. On wet they are incomparably better. They are just a little bit louder than on dry, where they are almost inaudible. I wonder what will be their life span, because I am not able to rate it at the moment. Previous tyres lasted only three seasons with low mileage, so I hope that Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta will not be worse. Overall, I can recommend them. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in the size 225/45R17 fitted to a VW Passat B6 2.0 TDI. Distance driven is ca. 17000 miles with quite dynamic driving style. The advantages of the tyre are its visual look, good grip on both dry and wet, noise level is also good, but on some Czech motorways (which are mate out of concrete tiles) the tyres squeal terribly. The shock absorption is also fine, compared to Barum winter tyres and summer Michelin Energy Saver ones. The drawbacks of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are definitely rolling resistance - my car's fuel consumption rose up by 1,5 l/100 km and the impression is like the car lacks about 10-20 BHP. Their durability is also average, after 17000 miles the tread is 5 mm on the front and 6 mm on the rear. However, generally I can say Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is not a bad tyre. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I won't be fooled by the look ever again, like I was with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. When it comes to behaviour on wet, they are very good. The tyre wasn't very quiet from the very start, but after 16000 miles it became a nightmare, I thought I'd turn deaf. My mechanic checked if the bearings are fine, as the noise was similar. However, after I fitted my winter tyres, everything went back to normal. Moreover, the tyre seems to be much of a directional tread pattern and therefore you have to check the air pressure quite often (it's best to check them on the manufacturer's website), otherwise the car swerves to the right. After I fitted Dunlop tyres, such problem ceased its existence. Therefore, I am afraid I can't recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta as a good tyre. Read more Collapse

If someone is looking for really good tyres at a reasonable price with an awesome-looking tread, they certainly will be happy with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta! I chose these tyres after quite a long search, and I'm very happy about that decision. The car the tyres are fitted to is a Honda Civic EJ6 with the engine swapped for a B18C4. Generally speaking, the car is quite seriously modified and it became quite a fast ride, and I think Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres fit there for sure. They give great grip on dry, which I was expecting, but the behaviour on wet surprised me a bit - positively of course. And their visual look! Also, it's very quiet and surprisingly comfortable for a 40 profile. Too bad Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is not produced in smaller sizes... Read more Collapse

Fitted over a year ago - full set of tyres, fantastic tyres all round, the only performance hitch for me is the traction in snow / ice as can be expected with summer tyres they dont like the bad weather. Other than that though they are amazing, and truly come into their own class during heay rain as they are simply brilliant. I have currently done 15,000 miles on these tyres, with a large percentage of the time I drive the car like i stole it and they are still offering outstanding performance and they appear to have plenty of tread left on them, I would expect I will get another 10,000 miles on these. Go buy them they are stunning!!!!!! Read more Collapse

I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres for the second season now. In general, these are my first tyres with such a profile so my review can be not sufficient but I have to say that I'm satisfied. I usualy don't drive too fast but sometimes I do. Tyres don't squeal even at sudden braking. Rolling resistance is not very high. With the pressure of 2.9/3.0 bar fuel consumption is relatively low: 6.5l/100km on Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and it was 7.0l/100km on my old tyres. On some types of road surface the noise is noticeable but when the road is good there is no noise. For this price nothing better than Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta can be bought. Read more Collapse

These tyres came recommended from a friend and having used all sorts of tyres on various sports cars these tyres exceeded expectations. Excellent grip in the dry, the asymmetrical design displaces water on even the wettest roads and prevents aquaplaning. Used these tyres for a season snowboarding up the Scottish Highlands (150 mile round trip) and everyone was asking how did I get there. Combined with a quattro drivetrain I didn't feel the need for snow tyres and never got stuck. Wear is good I have done 16000 miles now with a mix of driving and will be about ready to buy another set although for info the rears have 4mm and the front 3mm. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta can't be assessed explicitly. On one hand we have its behaviour on dry, noise level and shock absorbing on a really high level, but on the other hand driving on wet surface, where the problem is. The tyres become loud, and the sound they emit (probably the result of this unique tread) can be compared to a diesel engine revved up to the max. Speeds above 75 MPH on wet become a nightmare, the tread just "claps" on the surface making such an irritating noise that even my 5 years old child asked me what's the sound... unfortunately, because of that, I will not buy Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta again. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is just an amazing tyre. Fast starting, fast and tight corners - these are the conditions where Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta does the job very well. On wet they are briliant as well. I found them excellent even in rainy conditions. They dont squeal, ABS and ASR don't turn on. They are simply brilliant. They grip the road very well. In addition, the design is marvellous. My previous tyres are uncomparable to Vredesteins. I encourage to buy Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta as they are very comfortable. I sincerely recommend. As for now, I did ca. 1200 miles on Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres and I can say that these tyres behave great on wet surface. The traction control checklight hardly ever switches on, so the grip is great. The only drawback of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is that you have to fit them very carefully, similarly to Run Flat tyres, as they have a very hard rim protection lip. One has broken down during fitting and in the result I had to repair my wheel. However, I generally recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta as they are worth every penny spent on them. I have a few cars and I wear different tyres on them. I think that Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are the best. Very quiet, even when you have opened windows. While driving 40 MPH I sometimes wonder if the wheels are there, or if the car levitates in the air. On wet? What do you mean, "on wet"? On these tyres I don't care about the weather. Once I even got stopped by the police who looked over the tyres, wondering if everything's fine with them, as they look "strange". Overall, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are very good tyres. I definitely recommend. Read more Collapse

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta give very good grip in all conditions on the highest possible level. Even driving through deep puddles is ok. Their visual look is awesome as well. Unfortunately there are a few cons - my Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres survived only 5000 miles and small bulges appeared on the sides then, classifying the tyres for immedate replacement. If you need a tyre for good condition roads you can buy them for sure. If you will drive on bad condition roads, I don't recommend getting Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Read more Collapse

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is a very good tyre. I did ca. 7500 miles and I didn't notice any signs of wear. I didn't have any problems with it - I'm very pleased. The visual look is very unique. At higher speeds, above 90 MPH on wet it just cuts through water and leaves a big cloud of water droplets behind the car, resulting in a great viusal effect. Personally I think Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is one of the best tyres in such range, and I guess I will stick with it for some time now. Read more Collapse

I did 22 thousand miles on Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres. After three seasons, all I can do with them is to throw them out. They have a very soft compound, which causes the tyre to deform after a few sharp brakings. Their large tread also has drawbacks, as larger stones can stick into it and cause vibrations. However, they are perfect for the motorway, their grip in the corners is great and also they look nice. Overall, I think I can recommend Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres. Read more Collapse

High performance tyres at a great price from Oponeo. Delivered within 5 days as promised. Great tyres compared to a set of toyo's. In comparison, grip is really good even in the wet than the toyo's. Braking is really good too, no screeching or skidding. The tyres feel grounded when hard braking, no steering vibration nor does it pull in either directions. On first hand experience alot of rubber and grip to match - very impressed with the choice especially in the wet. Read more Collapse

I already have a second set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in the size 225/45R17. Their advantages are their sports and aggressive look, great road grip, also in the corners, good properties on wet surface and decent price. The tyres are not perfect, though - they are quite loud and unfortunately they wear off fast. When it comes to driving and visual comfort of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, I definitely rate them 6 out of 6, but noise level and tread wear is 4 out of 6. Read more Collapse

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are phenomenal. The most quiet tyre avaliable on the market. Most comfortable (especialy with low profiles below 45) The design is just awesome. I have used Avon ZZ5 for many years and was miffed when they became unavailable but when I found these tyres I thought they sounded similar and I wasn’t wrong. They grip like the proverbial *&^%? and are, if anything a bit quieter on most road surfaces. I have had these fitted to my wife’s Peugeot 206cc and they are just as good and she loves them. They seem to have the effect of making the car feel more solid and stable on the road. Read more Collapse

It is not true that Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are quiet and comfortable. When it comes to noise level, I would rahter say that they are average. About the comfort - rather normal. The fact is that they look very nice compensates for those drawbacks. Also, handling and behaviour of the tyres on different surfaces is very good - I can't complain. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is very poor when it comes to water dispersion - it's terrible when the tread is below 6 mm and the car swerves off the road in effect. Nice design is the only advantage of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Price is relatively high for such a tyre. I drove 15 thousand miles and I can only throw them out. In addition I have to say that I don't drive too fast. I don't do sudden braking, and I don't "burn" tyres. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are simply the best tyres. They have a very nice design and performance. They aren't afraid of water, and on dry they are even better. Driving comfort for such a low profile is good. My previous Vredestein F1 were a bit harder. I got my Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta by random choice, but I would not hesitate to buy them again. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is generally a good product. The only drawback is their durability. I should have changed them after the first season (15 thousand miles), but I took the risk and did another season on them, and now the tyre is totally bald. But the price is definitely good, so I am thinking about buying them again. Read more Collapse

I bought my second set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and I can definitely say they are brilliant. The only problem is that they wear off really fast. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta should be produced without the INNER SIDE marking. I find them unable to disperse water properly when fitted in accordance with that markings, as when you look at the car it is clear the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on the left is okay and the right one is fitted in an improper way... For me, the only drawback regarding Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is the noise level. My mechanic put them on his car because he couldn't believe that they are so noisy.
