Safety is paramount for drivers. The developers of the premium Nokian Wetproof summer tyre know this and have therefore used a double safety zone in this model. It provides excellent results on both wet and dry surfaces. This is due to the asymmetric tread pattern. It has two tasks: to improve traction and grip on both types of surface and to increase the strength and durability of the tyre.
A stabilization zone is located on the outside of the tyre. It makes it easier to manoeuvre the car. Inside, there is a safe driving zone. It improves wet grip, which reduces the risk of aquaplaning. Self-locking grooves are responsible for improving manoeuvrability under such conditions. The longitudinal rib support allows water to flow freely from the tyre surface (Nokian Tyres Coanda technology). When the tyre comes into contact with the road, the rib grooves press each other, which increases driving stability in the rain. The Aqua Hybrid technology also ensures greater safety when driving in such conditions. This rubber compound not only provides better grip, but also lower fuel consumption.
The silent grooves design is a technology that makes tyre noise less of a nuisance. The surface structure of the tread resembles a golf ball, which changes the airflow. A special zone on the side wall (low-noise sidewall technology) also contributes to less noise. Proper design of this element means that the vibrations and noise generated during the ride are lower. This in turn allows to eliminate the unpleasant buzzing. Another effect of this technology is the reduction of rolling resistance and the reduction of tyre wear.
The Nokian Tyres brand was founded in 1988 in the Finnish city of Nokia. In fact, the roots of the company are much deeper. In 1932, the Finns started producing car tyres and two years later they manufactured the world's first "winter tyres". The Nokia specialists have also made other significant improvements. In 2014, they developed the world's first tyre with retractable spikes.
