Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ZP is a premium summer tyre, which is the successor to the Pilot Sport 2 tyre, enriched with a variety of improvements, which therefore improve upon the performance, the ride comfort and safety of the previous model. This model is ideally suited to prestige vehicles and sports cars. This tyre guarantees excellent handling during braking, turning and performing sudden manoeuvrers.
The tread on the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ZP is created on the basis of two mixtures. The outer part is a combination of the carbon component and silica, whereas the inner part uses pure silica. Such a selection of ingredients provides optimum traction on dry and wet surfaces and a high performance during dynamic, sporty driving. Variable Contact Patch technology provides an increase in the tyre contact with the road, which results in it maintaining adequate adhesion in a wide temperature range. The outer tread blocks and central rib were mapped on the basis of the solutions Michelin tyres used in Formula 1. This allows the strengthening of the steering response and the stabilization of the driving position and handling.
Wide grooves with transverse incisions create a system that aims to efficiently drain water from the front tyre. Thanks to this, the tread dries quickly, and the risk of aquaplaning is minimized. Two steel belts are placed inside the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ZP, with additionally reinforced nylon fibres. This improves the ride comfort and handling on any type of surface.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ZP also uses Zero Pressure Technology which allows the continuation of driving after a puncture for up to 50 miles.
