Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

Tyre details:

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 is designed for racetracks but it has also been approved for use on roads. Thus, it allows its users to easily achieve the highest speeds and, at the same time, maintain high driving precision. It is worth mentioning that the tyre was created thanks to Michelin’s experience in Formula 1.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 stands for true sporty nature and aggressive driving which will please any high performance lover. Another very important fact is that the speeds the tyre is capable of does not mean that any compromise is made in terms of driving comfort or safety. Regardless of what speeds are obtained, Pilot Sport 2 gives optimum grip on dry surfaces. The designers have managed to obtain this thanks to the rubber compound with a high molecular weight in the external section of the tread. However, this is not everything that the tyre has to offer. Driving precision and the optimum steerability are ensured by the rubber compound used in the external part, which employs Bi-Compound technology, and the wider bottom part for a better lateral stiffness. What is also important, the compound used in the tyre allows for improved endurance, which enables the reduced wear of the tread. The tyre offers maximum safety. The extended depth of the tread pattern guarantees a better grip on a wet surface and during a heavy rainfall. A very important aspect is also that a continuous contact with the road, even at high speeds, is ensured by the use of durable aramid bracing and the Track Variable Constant Patch 3.0 technology. This is responsible for the even distribution of pressure over the entire road contact area.

Michelin was founded in 1889 by two brothers: André and Edouard Michelin. With the long-lasting tradition and innovative technologies, Michelin is presently one of the world leaders in the tyre industry. Michelin is also a majority shareholder of such brands as Taurus, Riken, Siamtyre, Tigar, Warrior, Kormoran, Recamic, Kleber, Euromaster and BFGoodrich.

The Michelin Pilot Spot SP2 run flat is a very good tyre all ever way, but when compaired to a Bridgestone run flat its in a completely different league imhp The Michelin doesn't have the horrible skipping of the Bridgestone and so when connering and hitting a matchstick sized hole or bump it doesn't make either the car ship or for that matter your heart, the car feels great and quieter, my only very slight negative is that the turn in isn't quite as cprisp as the Bridgestone but that's something that you soon get used to and isn't a problem, so in summery if you have a BMW with Bridgestone run flats and are thinking about changing to non run flats then try these first they will transform the ride and poise of your car beyond belief. Very good summer tyre. Very good grip on dry and wet road. Very good driving comfort. The acoustic comfort is rather average- winter Yokohama WDrive seemed to be a bit more silent in the same size of 225/45R17, but you have to take into consideration that Yokohamas are the one of the most silent tyres avaliable on the market. Very wear resistant, I thought that it would be much worse because of the excellent grip mixture. High price but you receive the highest-class product. I decided to buy these tyres because they were recomended for my car (Cadillac-CTS-V) and it had these tyres already set-on. Unfortunately, after changing american Contis for European Conti the difference was huge. The tread was simmilair but the behaviour much more worse. Lack of grip since the begining. After about 7000 miles they cannot be used. No traction at all. I've tested 3 sets without effect. The american version is way much better, unfortunately, much more expensive. I changed them to Pirelly Corsa. Read more Collapse

Michelin PilotSport2 are the best tyres avaliable at the market. Very good grip and braking on wet and dry road surface. Cornering on dry road: A+. Cornering on wet road: B (tiny skids can appear). Very silent, you can hear only a small sough. Soft mixture. You can feel it on sett. After 7000 miles 7.5mm of tread left. If you care about safety you shouldn't hesitatae to buy them. The only disadvantage is their price which is a bit igh. I trully recommend them. Read more Collapse

Perfect tyre on dry road surface. Silent, stiff, perfect grip. There is no chance to turn the traction control system on. No skids and traction loses. Despite the stiff construction the tyre works very well. I have no restrictions to the traction on wet and dry road surface even when the temperature goes -0C. In general very good tyre. Imo better than Dunlopp Spotmaxx. Maybe a bit to expensive but you dont have to save money if it is about safety. Read more Collapse

Very good sport tyre. I got used to the fact that my Subaru uses tyres from soft mixture very fast... barter deal... Michelin Pilot Sport 2 provide maximum of grip. I chose them for my Subaru because of the lower noise level in comparison to PireliPZero nero.PS2 are better than Conti Contact 3, and more silent thatn Pirelli P Zero Nero or GoodYear Eagle but not as silent as Yokohama Advan. PS2 provides excellent driving properties. Recommend. Read more Collapse

Very nice tyre in comparison to any other high-performance tyres. I dont have any problems with the attriction (they transfer 510Nm from my rear axle). Side of the tire does not lay when driving in a bit more agressive way but they have quite big rolling resistance. I can recommend them for everybody who has a powerfull car and who likes fast driving. I dont recommend them for those who think that high performance tyres give immortality. Read more Collapse

Superb tyres for me. Better than DunlpoSport9000 and Goodyear Eagle F1. Michelin Pilot Sport 2 is not for calm driving Sirs in hats. I feel almost every hole in my spine but it is not a disadvantage for me. Atriction very low, I have them 3rd season (about 40.000 miles). Very good grip on dry! To be honest I haven't had any better tyres that behaved better on wet road as well. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

The tyre is very quiet and comfortable despite its 285/30R18 size. What I would like to emphasise most is that it is really soft and handles bumps very well for such a low profile. It handles superbly. Some people complain that it wears off quickly - I can't judge because I've only been using it for a short time and only occasionally, but I'll go with Michelin again. Opinion from outside the UK

Car (Cadillac CTS-V 564 hp) was originally equipped with Michelin PS2, but those were made in the USA. I bought Michelin PS2 made in France, tread-like, but the behavior of the tire completely different. Everything speaks to the detriment of European tire. The difference is huge. Sorry. Michelin PS2 in the U.S. costs far more than in Poland. Read more Collapse
