    Opinion from outside the UK

I bought the Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres for my Ford Focus Mk2 estate 1.8 TDCi. I was very pleased with them for the first 1000 miles. And then it all turned sour. The tyres are fitted to a car with freshly adjusted wheel alignment, on new Dezent alloy wheels, all brake discs in the car are new. After this 1000 miles I started to feel vibrations on the steering wheel, first up from 50 MPH, now from 45 already. The service has re-balanced the wheels – with no avail. They have examined the tyres on a balancer with road test function – it appeared one tyre was faulty, so it was sent for a complaint. I put my old Michelin tyres on the rear, but the vibrations didn’t stop. The rest of the Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres is unfortunately within Goodyear’s standards. I can see that my case is not the only one of such kind. In my opinion, these tyres are too rough and as they wear off, their quality also drops significantly. Unfortunately, I will have to throw them out (along with my 300 pounds) and go back to Michelin tyres. Because of that, I don’t recommend getting Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Goodyear EfficientGrip are the tyres I have fitted to my newly bought Ford Mondeo (160 BHP). I drive passenger cars a lot (company cars) and I try my best to buy safe tyres (not necessarily cheap ones) from various brands. I have done 15 thousand miles in two months and now I can objectively rate their quality. Goodyear EfficientGrip are one of the best tyres I have ever driven on, definitely the quietest ones. They provide great braking on both wet and dry surface. I didn’t notice the phenomenon other users did – the one about the vibrations (I can go 115 MPH on the motorway and nothing strange happens to them). In the corners they seem to be a bit too soft in aggressive driving. I’m not able to rate fuel consumption change as these are the original equipment tyres in a new car, but when it comes to rolling resistance, I think I can see the difference as guaranteed by the manufacturer when compared to other cars I drove. Generally, I find Goodyear EfficientGrip a very good tyre and I can recommend it with a clear conscience. Read more Collapse

The car I have Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres fitted to is a heavy vehicle with front wheel drive and a Diesel engine. The previous tyres I had were factory-fitted Pirelli P7. I think that compared to Goodyear, Pirelli tyres were harder and the car was stiffer. Now the front end of the car seems to sway at higher speeds. I use the same route when I go to work, so I can see the difference. Their great advantage is braking distance. The car stops almost on the spot. Previously, ABS was switching on during every sudden braking. Also, the fact is that my old tyres were already worn out. I got persuaded to buy Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres by reading reviews of other users and the manufacturer – low rolling resistance, noise level, influence on fuel consumption etc. As I see it now, everything was just a marketing trick, at least that’s my subjective opinion. Now I would go for some cheaper tyres. Pirelli did 45 thousand miles. We shall see what the mileage of Goodyear EfficientGrip will be. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have a heavy car with a powerful engine, and due to that all tyres wear off quite fast, including Goodyear EfficientGrip, but on the other hand, the driving comfort is excellent. The car goes in and out of the corners like on tracks. My passengers often are surprised that such a heavy estate with a modded Diesel engine can go 110 MPH in the corners. They ask me about the tyres, and when I say that I use Goodyear EfficientGrip and give them a price, they say they prefer to go slower and save some money… and then they buy used tyres. I preferred to buy new tyres and paid 100 pounds per tyre, at Oponeo – and the service stations want you to pay 160 pounds per tyre! Also, I rated their ice performance on 1, as such a tyre as Goodyear EfficientGrip shouldn’t be rated in winter conditions. I don’t drive like that and I find Goodyear EfficientGrip not suitable for snow and ice – that’s what winter tyres are for! Read more Collapse

Goodyear EfficientGrip are the tyres I have as factory fitted, I got them with my new Fiat Bravo. When it comes to comfort of use (noise level, economy, traction) – there’s nothing I can complain about. However, last week, when I was changing my tyres from winter ones (beginning of third season, mileage done on the tyres up to that moment – ca. 16 000 miles) it appeared that two of the tyres have quite large bulges on the inner edges, (one of them was quite large, and it was immediately classifying the tyre for replacing). Generally, I pay attention to the type and condition of surface I drive on and I slow down at bumps. As the city traffic learns, sometimes you have to drive on a curb. In my 10-year career of a driver, it was a first case of such. I have used Firestone, Barum, Pirelli and Dunlop tyres, and none of them tore apart the way Goodyear EfficientGrip did. The Goodyear EfficientGrip belongs to the Ultra-High Performance range of tyres. The model offers the perfect combination of excellent driving specifications and environmentally-friendly materials, with the tyres being made from a silica compound containing special polymers. The use of this material has reduced rolling resistance, tyre weight and warm-up time, thus allowing for a reduction in fuel consumption.

The asymmetric tread is designed in wide, circumferential grooves, which ensure an optimal driving experience. These grooves are complemented by transverse sipes dispersing water from under the tyre and preventing the risk of aquaplaning.

The optimised tread microstructure improves the wet braking process. The Goodyear EfficientGrip also has a network of multifunctional blades, which maintain stiffness, helping provide steering control and accuracy and driving comfort.
