General GRABBER AT2

Tyre details: The benefits of the General GRABBER AT2 include safety, reliability and outstanding handling on any surface. The tyre is intended for 4x4 vehicles, and so the engineers who designed it paid particular attention to ensuring reliability and excellent performance in changeable and extreme weather conditions.

The General GRABBER AT2 features a robust tread with a symmetrical pattern offering superb handling on both dry and wet roads. The strong and irregularly shaped blocks are covered with straight sipes, which help maintain the correct level of grip on slippery roads and in off-road settings. The tread grooves feature an optimised profile which allows the tyre to clean itself and offers protection against stones getting jammed between the blocks. The tyre also offers outstanding drivability on wet roads and guaranteed driving stability and safety. The General GRABBER AT2 is manufactured using a durable compound which extends the tyre's mileage performance and provides greater resistance to mechanical damage. Care was taken during the design stage to ensure an optimum distribution of forces, meaning that the tread wears evenly and the tyre is guaranteed to offer the full range of performance values throughout its lifetime. The tyre also features special stud holes, and is the ideal solution for all drivers looking for a tyre which delivers excellent handling in any weather and road conditions for a reasonable price.

General was founded in 1915 in the US city of Akron. The years which followed saw the brand expanding its share of the market for industrial tyres, and it later started to manufacture tyres for passenger cars for which it is still famous today. General specialises in economy-range tyres notable for their reasonable price, outstanding handling on dry and wet roads and balanced performance. General has been owned by the Continental Group since 1987.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I didn't want to buy MT tyres, and so due to the very reasonable price I decided to get General Grabber AT2. I drive off-road (not very hard) and outside the city (commuting). Driving off-road is marvellous for my needs. They drive very well on sand, mud, grass and even when crossing small rivers. I dug myself only once, but it's not due to the tyres, but to the ruts my car's chassis got stuck at. The only drawback to these tyres is their handling, and especially braking on hard surfaces (pavement). I don't understand the positive review of one of my predecessors - in wet conditions on hard surface the tyre turns into an ice skate. You can slide for a very long distance. However, we have to bear in mind this is a distinctive feature of terrain tyres and General Grabber AT2 is no exception. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I decided to get General Grabber AT2 tyres, because BFGoodrich does not produce tyres for 18 inch wheels. And I can definitely say I am pleasantly surprised. It's definitely quieter on the pavement. It's hard to say something about off-road conditions, as I haven't gone into harder terrain so far. The tyre is significantly softer than the BFGoodrich AT, therefore I assume they will theoretically perform better on snow, but on the other hand, they will probably wear off faster. But, something for something... The fact is, General Grabber AT2 are the only AT tyres available for a Discovery II with 18 inch wheels. Also, I can say that this tyre perfectly absorbs shocks from holes in the pavement. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I can recommend General Grabber AT2 tyres. I have been using them since autumn and I've been driving on wet, mud, snow and in other conditions - and I have nothing to complain about. In winter, on ice it behaves like every other tyre - you just have to "support" it with your imagination. I can also recommend it for another reason - it's large and heavy amd elastic at the same time, therefore it absorbs bumps better - simply the car doesn't bump and jump as much, at least I can see it in my Navara. Overall, General Grabber AT2 is a good choice for AT tyres. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have been using General Grabber AT2 on my Navara for two months, and now I can say somthing about its performance in winter, and I can recommend it with a clear conscience. It just shoots forward on both snow and mud, on ice it behaves like every other tyre. I heard it was to slide on wet - I can't confirm that. When it comes to noise, it's not bad, you can hear it between 25 and 60 MPH. At higher speeds all you hear are other noises. Generally speaking, General Grabber AT2 is a tyre worth recommending. Absolutely fantastic all round tyre. Highly recommended. I do a mix of on and off road driving including motorways and these will happily sit at 70 plus mph and just as well in the mud. Driving a quiet V8 at motorway speeds any road and tyre noise would be very noticeable but these really impress and very little noise is heard (I've noticed more modern cars suffer more tyre noise) Extremely durable and long lasting tyre too. Very happy and will happily dress my other 4x4s in these boots in the future. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

General Grabber AT2 tyres are light, they balance very well and have an agressive tread pattern, which makes them look good. They do a great job both off-road and on the pavement roads, on muddy roads and on slush. A bit slippery on wet surface, therefore their braking distance is a bit prolonged. To sum up, I definitely recommend General Grabber AT2 - they have a greay quality-price ratio for me and I am sure I'll buy these tyres again. Read more Collapse

Love the AT2, good compromise between on and off road performance (admittedly I don't ask too much of them) work well in snow, in fact the only time they've ever let me down was on sheet ice (find me a tyre that DOES work well on sheet ice lol) The only bug bear I have is the poorer size range available in the UK as compared to the US. All in all, a good value for money tyre for those not requiring a mud terrain. Read more Collapse

Damn are these tyres good, Bought them for the snow we get in the Peak district, and they proved to be excellent, went through a foot plus of snow with no trouble at all. also tyres are not as loud as I was led to believe, in fact I find them very quiet, overall I would rate these tyres as the best, and a pretty good price as well. I've had these tyres before and when I wanted new I was told by a number of dealers that they were no longer available, but I found oponeo on line phoned them up to check, they told me they had them in there warehouse in Germany so I paid on line and two days later they arrived. I highly recommend these tyres and oponeo. Read more Collapse

i have had 4 sets of the G.B's A/T over the years and they have never failed me. Not quite as good as BFG. A/T, in that tread wear is greater, and self cleaning abilities are slightly less, but that is well superceded by the price. A hard to beat tyre in all aspects . Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Tires initially made us a very positive impression, even compared to BF Goodrich and Goodyear Wrangler AT, which we had before, and on another car and we were really pleased with them until they were becoming DAMAGE. For a number of years and for a distance of approx. 40 thousand. km Three of the four tires purchased by us have systematic failures of formation approx. 3 cm bulges on the side surface of the tire. Tires were mainly used for peaceful ride through the city (LR Discovery Td5 not provoke the madness), 1-2 times a year for long distances and occasionally for trips in light area (but for this purpose we have LR Defender BGF). If this type of use causes such severe damage is very bad testifies to the tire construction, Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Tire for drivers driving for both in the field and on the asphalt, the ground works very decent and even on the asphalt did not feel significant resistance and noise. Incineration at regular highway tires, I personally noticed no more significant combustion. This is a very good compromise between the typical terrain on the tire and the ground at motorway which is useless. Considering the price is unmatched value comparable tires with normal tires middle class highway. I would recommend for people moving in terni 40% and 60% on the asphalt. Read more Collapse

After driving 20000 km tyre still over half tread. Very effective in wet conditions even in case of water on the roadway of a few centimeters. Fear of volume exaggerated. Ekspoloatowana occasionally at 150 km / h at 120 - 130 (freeway) is more onerous than the air whistling noise tyres. Read more Collapse
