Advanced technology and driver safety were the designers' two main aims when producing this tyre. The Continental ContiSportContact 5 has been designed for premium passenger cars and SUVs. The model performs exceptionally well both on city roads and on longer journeys. Its massive, flexible blocks on the outside shoulder and its innovative central ribbing ensure excellent grip and stability on corners. The model also guarantees excellent grip and driving stability thanks to the increased contact surface between the tyre and the road.

The Continental ContiSportContact 5 also offers safe braking performance thanks to its Black Chilli technology, which has improved tyre stability and significantly reduced braking distances compared with models from previous generations. The special resins added to the rubber compound give the tyre excellent grip on any surface, including during dynamic manoeuvres. The tread of the Continental ContiSportContact 5 is noted for its unique construction, made up of two layers: the outer "cap” and the inner "base”. The outer layer is responsible for good grip on wet surfaces, while the inner layer reduces rolling resistance. The model is ideal for drivers who favour a sporty and dynamic style of driving, whatever the weather.

The Continental ContiSportContact 5 was ranked 1st for size 225/45 R17 summer tyres organised by ADAC in 2016 .

    Opinion from outside the UK

I am amused by the opinions of drivers who rave about the super continental, saying that the tyre does not wear out, and driving supposedly aggressively in super powerful cars. It's either a fairy tale or you really do drive like a jackass. I bought the tyres for my 2012 Passat B5FL, which gets beaten up day in and day out. I drive in Silesia on good roads, but I do not save tyres and after two seasons and 35,000 km the tyres have about 5 mm. In dry and wet conditions it is perfect, and what is important, the tyre does not rumble or tootle, which in the case of a powerful engine and lightweight rear often happens. I hope it will last another 2 seasons. I hope it will last another 2 seasons. Unfortunately, it squeaks when starting off dynamically in the dry, and starting off in the wet often triggers the ESP. Compared to the competition, it is definitely high, whether it is the best tyre on the market is hard to say, because as many drivers as many opinions. However, in comparison with Bridgeston or Vredestein I do not see any significant differences. Definitely the biggest plus is the compound, which at higher speeds in corners does not make the car float. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I have a Golf V GTI DSG (200hp, front drive, car weighs about 1300kg), tyres size 225/45 R17 91Y. My previous summer tyres were Bridgestone Potenza S001 - a big mistake in my car. These Continentals, on the other hand, are really good. Very, very good. They have excellent grip in corners, and their performance in the wet is simply exemplary. The only disadvantage I found was when starting off: they lose grip, and in the wet they lose a lot of it. Granted, unlike the Potenz S001, the car doesn't dance around on the road and the ESP doesn't go crazy, but it's still not ideal. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a tyre that offers super grip and resistance to aquaplaning (or is there?). Also, the tyres are quite noisy - but I guess all UHP tyres are like that. In general, I recommend them highly, and I think my next summer tyres will also be from this series - unless I buy Pirelli P Zero or some Yokoham. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

After buying and fitting new Continental ContiSportContact5 tyres, I was very positively surprised after the first kilometres driven. My car has close to 400 horsepower and I must say that the tyres do a great job in relation to the power and AWD. Absolutely sure handling on dry as well as wet pavement. I must admit that I had the opportunity to drive some more during snowy days. The continentals did not let me down in either. They were also tried on an asphalt track and gravel paths at high speeds. I will not write about tread wear, because everything depends on driver's imagination ;-) I highly recommend it for any car, you will not find a more universal tyre! To tell you the truth, Alladdin would be proud to have such a tyre on his flying carpet, and Ostrich the Pied Piper would certainly not brake any faster. Best regards to all Continental users, especially of the above-mentioned model :-) Read more Collapse

I do not recommend this tyre. I have driven about 20,000 km on it in a relatively quiet manner (average fuel consumption 9.5 l/100 km engine 4.2 l diesel on our roads) and the tyres are worn to 70 %. On dry pavement, traction is good, in rain they are very slippery, and in ruts it's like on a rally - constant wheel slip from 90 km/h. They are not able to drain water in a layer thicker than 1 cm - I tested them on wet asphalt. Noise level higher than on winter tyres. I've changed the pressure from 2.2 to 2.8 bar, but it doesn't improve driving comfort, and this is an A8 with air suspension. The tyre quality is quite good, the maximum balancing weight is 30g, which for a 19 inch tyre diameter is not bad. I take care of my car as it is a working tool and will not buy Continentals again. This is the first time that I have used a ContiSportContact3 from the CONTINENTAL premium range on a Ford S-MAX. Practically no complaints! In the meantime I had bought a new car which was fitted with tyres from another well-known manufacturer, which were just as good. However, the time had come to buy new tyres. After many comparative tests, the ContiSportContact5 in size 235/45/R18 was the right choice! The car grips the road perfectly, even in tight bends. Virtually no major changes in wet behaviour. The degree of wear is average, and the tyres have already covered more than 20,000 km, so I think they should safely last until 40-50,000 km. The only drawback may be the price, but it is a high-end product. The final assessment - very good tyres, I recommend. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

Hi. If anyone, like me, has previously ridden on ContiSportContact 2 and CSC 3 do not buy this tyre. This tyre has nothing to do with those mentioned except the name. The tyre is made in germany. The worst is on dry asphalt. Starting off is much worse than with older models, not to mention when the road is slightly dirty. Cornering handling is adequate but not very firm, and with a load rating of 94 there is no comfort whatsoever when driving in town. I changed the Conti for the Pirelli model P Zero. The driving experience is like that of a cheap Chinese tyre. For me, the ContiSportContact ended with the 3 model, although I have the best memories of the 2. Regards. Read more Collapse

Good quality tyre, only capable of performing on dry roads. Very precise handling. Dramatic in the wet. This is the first time Continental has made a mistake with me. It's strange because I always buy Conti and there have never been any problems. These tyres are Romanian made, the vulcanizer during installation said that often with this model from this country, they have problems with optimization and balancing. A small layer of water causes dangerous situations. The reason in my opinion is the very small initial tread depth (about 6-7 mm!!!!). Sporty tyres for the track, they don't do well in daily intensive use. Read more Collapse

I had more economical and quieter tyres, but when I saw their performance in the tests it gave me pause for thought. I decided that the behaviour of a tyre in critical situations was more important to me than saving money. Hence the choice of the SportContact5. One reservation concerns durability. Namely, after about 2,000 km I damaged a tyre on the sidewall and had to buy a new one. I don't know if this is a matter of bad luck or the specifics of the tyre (thin and soft sidewall). I have driven about 500,000 km so far and this is the first time something like this has happened to me. Read more Collapse

People, buy other tyres, I trusted the tests and reviews and was severely disappointed, my old Nokians 225/45/17 ZG2 XL held up much better in corners in the dry even though ContiSportContact 5 ( production 2015) I also bought XL, In the wet the Continental often switches on ESP in the Nokian sporadically happened, to this noisy even very comparable to the three-year-old Nokian, which I decided to change because of the noise they began to make, although the new owner says they are awesome for the money : ) The next tyres I buy will definitely not be Continentals. In my opinion, it compares very favourably with its competitors. For comparison I had a Uniroyal Rain Sport 2, which was a directional tyre and was incomparably harder and much louder. I recommend it as a very good tyre, the only drawback is the price, but the quality and uncompromising nature of the tyre have their value. The construction or the casting of the tyre requires minimal balancing, which is not always possible with other tyres (the rims are heavily taped with weights). After my experience with various tyres, I think I'll stick with Continental. Read more Collapse

The tyres fitted as a new set to a ford s-max from the beginning caused problems with run-out and balancing. the whole set was manufactured in slovakia in the factory there (according to the description on the tyre). No help whatsoever from rearranging the tyres in different places and on different sides of the car - beating and vibrations were already noticeable at speeds of about 90 km/h. A small amount of wheel reassembly performed on the car helped (RIMS CHECKED) After one season, i.e. approx. 30,000 km, the tyres are fit for the rubbish bin Read more Collapse

I had a lot of trouble buying RSC tyres for the first time. I never knew which type to choose, but the salesmen were very helpful in finding the right tyre for my BMW. The tyre grips the road very well, the rim edge protection strip means that I am no longer afraid to lend the car to my wife... as the rims always look bad after she has driven them. The braking performance is sensational ;) Wear resistance is hard to judge, because I bought them recently, however I drove 15 000 km on them and they still look wonderful :) I highly RECOMMEND it :) Read more Collapse

My assessment is not entirely authoritative as I have driven less than 4000km. But. It seems to be better than the original Bridgestone Potenza. It performs better in the wet, but no difference in the dry. The driving comfort is better and the addition is quieter. I hope it will not delaminate like the Bridgestone after five (5) seasons - barely 50000km driven. If I had more money, I would buy Goodyear or Dunlop. My Mazda 6 runs on Goodyear winter tires and they have never let me down, even at highway speeds and on various road surfaces. Read more Collapse

It was fitted to a car that is not very dynamic. However, after 15000 km, 3 out of 4 tyres are serrated (no fault of suspension, checked at several companies). From 7-8 mm of tread there is 5-6 mm left, and this is only the first season. Moderate driving style in and out of town. No more tyres from this manufacturer. However, the price does not go with the quality. I tried to complain, but I was told by the service centre that they would not accept the complaint. I now have a problem selling them on. I would definitely advise against it. Read more Collapse

I have always believed that it is not worth saving on tyres. The tyres are worth recommending to anyone who cares about safety. Dry road - the car is glued to the road, no sliding whatsoever. Wet road - the same as on a dry surface. Noisier at higher motorway speeds (over 150). Normal driving up to 100-120 km/h is quite quiet. Bump absorption - I can't really say anything here in order not to overestimate the rating - the low profile does its job. Generally recommended. A tyre you can definitely rely on. There are virtually no weak points, as it handles the road extremely well. Driving in the rain is not a problem. Very good in the dry. It is quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately the tread is fading fast and after one season and 30k km there is not much left of the front tyres. I drive a heavy car (audi a4) with a powerful engine and I don't spare tyres, but even the previous fast-wearing Dunlop SportMaxxes lasted 2 seasons. As for me, the next tyres are Michelin or Yokohama. Read more Collapse

I have driven very little on these tyres as the old ones didn't last to the end of the season. I had the same model on my previous car and drove over 25,000 km on them. The tyres give great grip in all conditions! The protective rim flange is an added bonus. As for the wear, I think it mainly depends on the driving style, but I am satisfied. I don't drive aggressively, but rather dynamically, and the tyres lasted 3 seasons and I sold them with the car because they still had 7 mm of tread left. Read more Collapse

I bought 4 new tyres and I also bought 4 new rims, after a visit to the workshop to change the tyres, the mechanic said that the tyres have run-out, I sent all the tyres back under warranty, two pieces were replaced with new ones stating that they are not in accordance with standards / Now I have new rims, new tyres and a bunch of weights on them, I have done about 4 thousand km on the tyres mainly on German highways, and the tyres look like they have a few seasons, I do not recommend Read more Collapse

The car is front-wheel drive (170 km) with increased torque on 235/45/17 CSC tyres and it was a hit. I have full confidence in the CSC in all situations, it is like glued to the asphalt and in addition I have a slight decrease in fuel consumption, it is 0.2l/100km but I have already done 35 thousand on these tyres and in this matter it is already beginning to have an impact. It is a 100% good purchase and worth recommending, the next slippers will certainly be the same product:) Read more Collapse

I bought these tyres after doing a perfect 60000km with the sportcontact2, what can I say, they are perfect tyres, I have never had any problems with loss of grip, nor has it ever happened that some electronic stability control light came on, and between these sportcontact5 and the 2 I have covered more than 100,000km in all weather conditions. I would definitely recommend them and as far as I'm concerned, I'll only ever use Continental for both summer and winter tyres. Read more Collapse

A versatile tyre for high performance cars, good on dry and wet roads, and that's what it's supposed to be. As for durability, on average I change front tyres every year. I've seen comments criticizing durability, which is not true, I mean there are tyres that wear faster and don't offer as much grip and comfort, the critical comments are a kind of anti-advertising. By comparison I had Dunlop Sport Max, Bridgestone Potenza, Yokohama Advan A10, Good Year Asymetrico. Read more Collapse

Very good tyre for dry and wet asphalt. In the dry, very good grip on hard starts as well as on fast bends. And in the wet they show their other side. When I first drove it, I couldn't believe how much grip there could be in the wet. Even in deep ruts I had no problem with aquaplaning. A small minus for wear, because I do not know if they will last two seasons after 6,000 km, there is still 4.50 mm to the stops. But I am satisfied and I recommend it :) Read more Collapse

Front drive car 200km, I drive quite fast, they have saved me a few times, they are my best tyres I have had, the only and biggest downside- they only lasted me a year! For one year I covered about 25,000 km. I have had many other tyres on the same car before, from Michelin HP, Turanza, dunlop sp 01 sprot, pirelli P7, toyo proxes ... there was a lot, but the continental really stands out for its wet and dry grip, cornering and braking. These are my third Continental tyres, previously I had the older model summer tyres and the winter tyres. I was very satisfied, and now, after changing to the new tyres in the spring, I can't help but be amazed at how much better and smoother my car drives, and how much quieter it is, even though the winter tyres were very quiet. I bought these tyres because of the fast cornering, and they work 100%. Read more Collapse

I can't complain about the model because the tyres hold like glue when I drive 4,000 km a month Poland-Germany and I only drove from 25 June to the end of October. I'm telling you, it's a nightmare, I don't know if I'll make it through the next season to the end. I thought they would last longer :-( Maybe it was a defective batch, but for the price of the tyres I think it should not be like this. Read more Collapse

Overall I am very happy with the tyres, they are quiet, look good, grip on sharp bends in the city at high speed is satisfactory, sometimes even surprising. The only thing I have doubts about is the emergency braking, I thought that when braking hard the abs would come on much later, but I have no comparison with other tyres new on this car so I leave the braking evaluation at neutral. These tyres instantly impressed with an improvement of 2 mpg, quieter more comfortable - even the children commented on the improved ride experience. Grip is really assurred, no reduction over Bridgestone that I could detect in this or any other measure and after 10000 miles wear seems comparable to Bridgestone if not slightly better. I'd buy again without hesitation. Read more Collapse

Hello, the original tyres for my Toyota are the unfortunate Bridgestone Dueler with BSR ring. Due to one of them leaking, I was forced to choose something to replace them. I was worried how the car would perform on tyres that have no ring and are softer than the pseudo run flats. Fortunately nothing bad happens and I can say that the choice was the right one. The tyre is generally so-so. Tyre durability is a mockery - after three years of use on good (new roads), only in the summer season (approx. 15,000 km) do they come to an end. Quite noisy, despite the stated parameters. It handles well in the dry, but in the wet... I somehow do not trust it. I could easily buy something better for this money. Read more Collapse
