Bridgestone Potenza RE050A

Excellent controlled driving is one of the many advantages of the Bridgestone RE050A. This model provides excellent responsiveness and control of the vehicle in every situation. This tyre features an asymmetric tread pattern that provides excellent traction on dry and wet roads. Thanks to the wide grooves, the drainage is enhanced and the tyre maintains good handling in difficult conditions and is not prone to aquaplaning. The wide tread grooves fulfil another function – to prevent the rapid heating of the tyre, so Bridgestone RE050A can deliver its full performance during very fast and dynamic driving.

This model was created for drivers who prefer a sportier ride, especially because the designers have taken care to maximize the performance of the tyre, regardless of the condition of the road surface or weather conditions. A modern mixture is used for the production of the Bridgestone RE050A, whose main advantage is very high tensile strength and low weight. The result is a tyre with a very high resistance to mechanical damage and abrasion. This mix also helps to reduce rolling resistance which translates to less fuel consumption and thus also a reduction in carbon emissions.

The tyre is designed to dampen the sounds emitted by the tyre during operation, resulting in daily driving becoming even more pleasant and comfortable. Bridgestone RE050A is the perfect choice for drivers who like fast and sporty driving, and appreciate high performance alongside maximum safety and grip in all weather conditions.

This tyre is produced by Bridgestone, which are one of the biggest tyre manufacturers in the world.

    Opinion from outside the UK

End of discussion which tyres to choose for cars with multi-wishbone suspension, where the rumbles by slight usage can occur. It’s the best tyre in the world. It’s the opposite of summer Michelline tyre. The Michellines are built to win the tests. They are quiet, the resistance of trundling is small, the car consumes less fuel, but the Michellin is a tyre for grandpas – after driving 9400 miles it’s not possible to drive on wet surface with Michellin Primacy! On the other hand, BRIDGESTONE is awesome! Even after driving almost 19 000 miles the tyre is good during the rainfall, even though the usage is visible. The car consumes 0,5l more fuel, accelerates worse, max speed is also worse, but safety, but holding in the turns and during the rainfalls – great! Besides, it fits to every car. You can mount these tyres to Porsche, best BMW’s and Subaru in stock, so the 050A has got quite a recommendation! It’s funny for me, how the opinions on this portal differentiate. To everyone – it depends on how you drive! You can wear out the tyres in two days driving aggressively on the tour in a car with a power over 500 HP and also you can drive for 3 seasons 15 000 miles each. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I think that the tyre is great. I’ll start with a disadvantage, which is a remarkable weakening of comfort. Driving on unevenness is sometimes very uncomfortable despite switching the suspension on comfort mode! There are also advantages of that fact. The car holds well by fast wheel moves, during hard breaking with ABS on I managed to miss a suddenly changing lane car! On wet, they lose the grip very late, on dry it’s obvious, because they are Bridgestone. Earlier, I had Bridgestones included to my Almera (but probably worse type and all-season’s) which was a tragedy. I sold them after 2 months, because I didn’t even want them to keep ‘just in case’ because they were dangerous. This model restored my trust for that brand. But it’s too rigid for me, so I’m changing for Continental Premium Contact 2 or Pirelli Cinturato p7 and I want a higher profile. If someone likes aggressive driving and hard safe suspension, then I recommend, but if someone has originally hard suspension, then for our roads I’d think about it. If we had German roads, I would probably stayed with those tyres. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

In Vectra, I had originally 215/55R16H tyre size - Bridgestone Turanza ER-30. With the new speed index W I bought Potenza RE050A. Behavior: accuracy, accuracy, accuracy - these are the main features of this tyre. In comparison with the previous one, the vehicle understeer disappeared somewhere. The reaction to turn the wheel is much more direct. Steering wheel stays stiff when driving straight ahead. The grip on the wet surface comparing to the previous one has improved, but this difference is not very large because of the narrower size which I applied. In terms of comfort, subjectively speaking, it is even better, though I was expecting worse. Car stopped swinging. With this tyre, unevenness is consumed at a time. There are no, as before, additional glides. The impact is perhaps harder, but no gliding compensates for this. The noise increased a little, but this is not a loud tyre. It’s just not particularly quiet. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I decided to add my two cents, because the opinions of some Internet users should not be taken into account. 1. It is difficult to assess the values of a tyre in moderate driving – the chinese rubber is enough for that. Bridgestone RE050A work very well, but they are better. 2. Grip on wet roads also depends on the width of a wheel - the larger, the more carefully you should ride - wider sizes (over 225) require skill and caution. 3. Sport tyres are not hard, as some ‘smart guy’ wrote. Achieving a better grip is a price for faster usage. These bore one season driving fast, powerful car, so they are good. It’s a good compromise between hardness and abrasion. Overall, they are very good tyres, although currently I’m looking for something better. But we have different requirements and for calm drivers I do not recommend more expensive tyres - you will feel no difference. Read more Collapse

Made in Poland. The tyres shaved after driving 3100 miles. They have so much tread as new ones and they are already rubbish. Noisy at highway speed and interfere during phone calls, the steering wheel shakes in hands, not to mention the annoyance. I made a complaint with Bridgestone, of course, it was not successful, citing the abnormal tread wear for one of the following reasons: tyre pressure, suspension design, geometry settings, driving style, vehicle load, etc. This tyre model is factory-fitted in my car (BMW 320d), and is intended for such usage. Car was regularly serviced at BMW, where they confirm that the manufacturer always denies a responsibility. Because of this adventure, I will not pick the Bridgestone again, and for certain I will be heading in the direction of Pirelli and Continental. Read more Collapse

Original tyre in the new a3 sportback dsg diesel 170 hp. What can I say – hard tyre, but it’s probably normal with the 40 profile. Lately I had winter tyres with 45 profile and these were harder (strange) - predictable tyre. I’ve never had any problems with traction and a small audi doesn’t belong to slow cars – no problems on wet surface unless the tyre has a tread – surprising thing is a durability, one piece I pierced 4 times and I had no money so I kept repairing it - after 18 600 miles, while changing for the winter ones, it turned out that the tyre is bald so it wears down which I think is the standard because 350 torque of 2 tdi definitely gives them a hard time. - At the moment I’m buying 2 pieces for the front axle - RE050A at a price of 100GBP. I rather won’t buy nothing better. Read more Collapse

Tough tyre, rather sporty characteristics - and that’s good! On dry asphalt, they are excellent - all the fun of driving. On the wet they are also good, but slightly worse than the soft Uniroyal RainSport 1 Their hardness gives a lot more confidence in the corners rather than Uni, though it certainly will not appeal to lovers “Rockin” limousines. I think the abrasion is normal, but after 10 500 miles you can see shaved sides of the tyres. Virtually no rolling resistance. At any speed, a Boxer is louder than those tyres. A lot of fun from driving if someone likes to ride faster than the rest, but still have full control of the car. Read more Collapse

I don’t think that I’ll ever buy other tyres - only Potenza! Boh on the dry and on the wet they stick to the road perfectly, I haven’t got any slip on them yet even with the electronics turned off. They are quite rigid which with my hard suspension gives a strong pounding on the holes, but luckily I do not use the car in the city so I’m not worried. The fact that there isn’t much tread on them, but it’s hard for me to assess the attrition because sometimes there goes white smoke from under them and even turn with the handbrake is not rare. In ‘’normal’’ usage, they should not consume more than anything else. Read more Collapse

Great tyres when it comes to grip and abrasion. Until now, I’ve driven on them 7500 miles and I can see almost no wear. On the road, they hold the car great on the straight and also in the turns, great water draining. Unfortunately, they also have their drawbacks, they are very hard and heavy by what car consumes more, about 1.5 liters per 60 miles, they are worse on the holes in our cities. I wasn’t using them during winter, that’s why the price is low. Previously I was riding on the Fulda Carat Exelero, these tyres were lighter by almost a half, they deal with holes better but quickly underwent abrasion. Read more Collapse

I drove on the tyres fitted as standard to my car 53 000 miles (3 summer seasons in the winter there was a change for Blizzaki). I am very happy with these tyres. I have a car with a sport suspension, I admit that it is hard, but this tyre is a sport tyre. Driving in F1 as well on dry and wet roads. After 31 000 miles on a wet - not so fast but still stable. The car has over 250 hp, I drove on these tyres France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and our English holes. Safe tyre even at speeds of 125 - 155 mph. The only minus - the volume increases with consumption. Read more Collapse

Excellent tyres! I had a Dunlop SP Sport 9000 before and it was very good but Potenza RE050A is even better. Incredible grip on dry and wet asphalt. Affordable price taking into account the quality of the tyres. They have another advantage (although I think for some people it might be a defect) with a small slip, the tyres do not squeal like most of the other tyres. I drove on many tyres such as Continental, Goodyear, Michelin, Dunlop, but the Bridgestone are the best yet in the market. I also recommend the Bridgestone Turanza ER300 model which virtually equals Potenza RE050A. Read more Collapse

Very good tyres on dry surface, holds in turns well, stability at high speeds (over 140 mph), moderate abrasion (mainly driving the highways and asphalt). The tyre behaves similarly on the wet but after riding 41 000 miles, draining decreases significantly. Although the tyre holds well on dry surface and on the corners and it’s stable at high speeds, on the wet surface it’s not as good. the quality of travelling reduces to averag, also much lower speed (about 100 mph) because of the poor stability during the rainfall with a mileage as above. Runflat tyres. Unfortunately, this is not a tyre for our ‘’wonderful’’ roads. It’s hard itself and also additionally hardened by runflat. And there is the effect - bubbles on the sides show up by sliding up a simple well or a small hole. Already two tyres with bubbles on the sides. BMW probably only thought about the German roads by fitting them as a standard. Generally, the lack of comfort is an understatement. If I had a choice I would not buy it. On the wet it’s only average, I’ve had better - at least Continental Premium 2. Read more Collapse

The ultimate tyre for the rain that have ever been using. Great rigidity, excellent behavior in corners. It doesn’t slip and squeak. At temperatures below 25 degrees, you need to warm up a bit before it will start to be fully glued to the asphalt. It affects the increase in fuel consumption (0.5-1 l / 60 miles), worsens the max speed and acceleration but the security rate is much higher. My car (155PS) objectively speaking, is too weak for that tyre, but the really important disadvantage is that they are very loud. Read more Collapse

205/40/17 in the Nissan 100NX. With such a profile there’s no space for a comfort (+ stiffer springs), but before the roundabouts you do not have to brake. Lateral support is very good, when starting it didn’t happen to me to squeak tyres (but that’s the tip of the clutch) and I can’t complaint for abrasion. After a few thousand miles I do not really see any difference. For this price, I expected something more, even a lot more, but I don’t complain. Great tyres. Equally good both on the dry and on the wet. Precise handling, perfect grip in the corners and while breaking. High resistance to hydroplaning (if the tread is at least 6 - 6.5 mm). Disappear quite quickly, but in the standard, about 1 mm/3700 miles (driving as normal, one visit to the track), which is a better result than S-03PP. They are fairly quiet, although in colleague’s Leon they were making terrible noise. Moderate comfort, but the comfort of this type of tyre is not expected :-) Read more Collapse

After the change from winter tyres - 225/45/17 Dunlop Sport 3D , now I see the difference in sticking to the road and driving. But when I changed it to winter tyres, I noticed that after 9300 miles half the tread of the front tyres ‘’disappeared’’, and I mostly ride long-distances on the highways, so it’s strange and shocking, perhaps the fact that they were produced in Poland? Excellent tyre, as far as traction is concerned. This time, I expected also a perfect comfort and I disappointed myself a bit, because I shouldn’t buy UHP rubber. It’s not loud, but I know the quieter and is quite rigid. Most, however, I feel rolling resistance - the fuel consumption increased by about 1l/60miles comparing to Dunlops. This set of tyres were purchased to replace the previous Bridgestone Potenza set. Their performance in the wet and dry is excellent to the extent that I have not had them let go yet. If mileage and performance is as good as the previous set I hope to get 20000+ miles from them Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I already have a second set of Bridgestone RE050A and I'm happy so far. Excellent on dry, good grip oon fast corners and great traction. Aquapalning is almost impossible, you have to try really hard to lose the grip- really good. The only drawback is a grip on wet in really cold days but it's not dangerous, all in all it's good.Due to the hard rubber you can hear them and feel the road inequalities. When it comes to durability I give them 5 stars, because I have done about 25 000 miles, as a HP tyres it is a good score. They are good for people who drives mainly on sharp corners and likes speeding. I like it- that is why I'm satisfied. Bridgestone Potenza RE050A- for me one of the best. Read more Collapse

I wondered over another brand, but I decidet to go for Bridgestone RE050A and would recommend these tyres. In fact they are not too quiet but safety and driving comfort are great.I'm using these tyres for 3rd season in the size 275/35/18 and I wouldn't change them to other make. The tread wear depends on your driving style mainly. I've made about 12 000 and despite few nails hammered into them everything is perfect, and my BMW was lifted up to 300 bHp. Cheers. Read more Collapse

Really good tyre, they work perfectly in Polish contitions due to the reinforced construction that they have. Great grip on dry, also good on wet, basically besides the noise I cannot see any other drawbacks. Bridgestone Potenza RE050A wears quickly I would say but it is just my opinion. It wears relatively fast depending on your driving style but I think that is normal for HP tyres. Gladly nrecommended- woth its price. Read more Collapse

Really good tyre, Bridgestone RE050A is one of the best I've had so far.The main advantage is that it doesn't wear quickly. In terms of durability Bridgestone RE050A is the best in my view. Very good grip on dry surface and great strength. I lasted for about 25 000 miles on traction controle which was constantly on. On rear I think it should handle about 30- 35 00 miles, perhaps even 40 000. Gladly recommended! Read more Collapse

I'm recommending Bridgestone RE050A tyres to everyone who wants to purchase good quality and durability tyres in reasonable price. They are really good in terms of durability and also they look great. They work fine on dry and wet surface. It's the second set that I have. Due to my huge mileage I've chosen this particular model. The only drawback is a noise. I'll recommend them regardlessly anything. Read more Collapse

Resistance very well, looks so se, I have no objection in general, a good tyre for a good price, a tyre mounted on Honda Civic page (at least that was some time ago). After the postponement of winter tyres feel a clear difference, the car smokes less about half a liter (1.6 110HP), on the road, you can go below 6 liters which is not bad I think. I recommend! At the beginning I had some mixed feeling. I had the impression that the tyre is a little too hard but it's all about Rubber amazing. Currently, almost running off to zero and further can normally ride in the wet. Of course, you need to be careful but I am full of admiration for those tyres. Huge + for the handling and cornering on wet roads. Read more Collapse

The Bridgestone is a tire RE00A very reliable. The price justifies the good quality. Paths more than 50,000 km between the city, but especially highway. Rubber is very quiet and high performance on both dry and wet. Also used to shift the track. Even under stress, very good behavior and consumption ridotto.Consiglio Bridgestone RE050A highly :) Read more Collapse

These tyres for sure it will never pile. When it comes to handling properties, especially in dry conditions without reservations, on wet also pretty good, though are better, but the fault of the tyres, which at the same time for me disqualifies these tyres is teething! Friends had similar stories with these tyres. We strongly advise against it. Read more Collapse
