The Nokian WR A3 has 3 main characteristics: excellent grip and steerability in any winter conditions, stability and very good driveability at any temperature and reduced fuel consumption. The model is the ideal choice for drivers of cars with a high performance engine looking for a tyre that offers steering precision, even in difficult conditions and at high speeds. Tests carried out in severe conditions have proved that the Nokian WR A3 easily handles even the most difficult of road conditions found in Europe.
Thanks to its asymmetric tread pattern, the tyre provides excellent grip. The special arrangement of the inner shoulder means that it quickly and effectively disperses water and slush. The product offers excellent performance during sudden manoeuvres, such as lane changes and overtaking, as well as when going round corners.
The tyre is made from a special compound, which combines natural rubber, silica and canola oil. This material ensures good grip (including on wet roads) and high resistance to wear at any temperature, thus making the tyre more environmentally friendly.
The arrangement of the semi-circular recesses on the sides of the longitudinal ribs minimises the heat generated by the tyre, making the tyre safer and more durable, even at high speeds. This solution reduces rolling resistance, resulting in lower fuel consumption. This innovation reduces tyre noise both inside and outside the vehicle. This feature is also down to the tyre's "Quiet Side Wall" solution, which absorbs vibrations from the tyre surface and stops them penetrating the inside of the vehicle.
The Nokian WR A3 features an easy to use tread wear indicator and a snowflake symbol. This allows the driver to control a situation where the tyre is no longer fit for use in winter conditions.

In my opinion Nokian WR A3 is a very decent snow tyre. The advantages are: very silent and comfortable tyres I must say. In comparison to my previous Pirellis, Nokian WR A3 is way more silent that Pirelli. What is more they also suprised me with how good they perform not only in the snow, but also on dry tarmac. Very positive feelings with cornering. My car is not swimming like it usually was with my previous set. Very good, reasonable choice to go for. If you would like to have a good winter tyre than consider buying the Nokian WR A3.
Definitely, Nokian WR A3 is a good snow tyre. The cons are: In my opinion Nokian WR A3 is not as easy to balance as other premium products. I think that they are wobbling a bit as the rubber components are lower quality in my opinion. I am very restrictive if it comes to tyre/steering wheel wobbling. On the very same alloys, I had my previous Pirelli and they fitted the wheel perfectly, without any issues and I had no wobbling at all. It was a bit harded with Nokian WR A3. Both of them: Nokians and Pirellis were fitted with use of exactely the same balancing machine. Besides, with the 17 inch diameter, I got that feeling that those tyres are not efficiently inflated.
I demand the best from my tyres and am highly impressed with the Nokian WR A3. I was unsure to start with as it is not one of the big name brands, but having read some reveiws I decided to take the plunge.
Having driven the full winter season on these last year and just considering getting them out for this winter I cannot fault them. They stick very well to cold tarmac (wet or dry) completly eliminating that 'greasy' feel that you get with summer or all season tyres when the roads are cold. Even with a slight frost or light snow covering the road these tyres still left me feeling confident in the rubbers ability to keep the car where it was supposed to be.
I never got to try these in any heavy snow, but I have them fitted to a rear wheel drive sports saloon so probably wouldnt want to anyway.
The grip on warm tarmac is not as good as my summer tyres, but I would certainly not mark these down for that because it is not what they are designed for, these tyres are winter tyres, and I can only assume that those users that have mentioned about a slight lack of grip on wet surfaces are comparing these to a summer tyre on a warm road.
I bought Nokian WR A3 as I was influenced by all those good reviews about that particular tyre. The price was very good and also I thought that Scandinavians should have made good snow tyre as winter in that part of globe seems to be pretty heavy tho. I waould like to mention one very important thing that my car's suspension is pretty much used and I believe that it has it's dramatical impact on the braking distance. I can surely judge the tyre after I drove a whole winter season on that Nokian WR A3. I can say that the grip is very good, it gives very good comfort while cornering (bear in mind my cr*py suspension). I have to say that Nokian WR A3 seems to be a very silent tyre. Driving on those was a nice experience for me. I would say that I would improve the braking distance, but still it is very hard for me to judge it while my front suspensions isn't fully operational. All in all Nokian WR A3 is a perfect winter tyre for passanger cars.
A brilliant winter tyre giving a comfortable, quiet ride and returning good economy. I almost got as good return as my Goodyear Excellence summer tyres (circa 53mpg).
Can't expect them to grip quite as well in the dry, but not far off and wet grip is excellent even when down in the minus figures. These tyres feel assured offering plenty of feedback and confidence to the driver in winter conditions.
Covered just over 7k miles this season and they still look like new. I do a mixture of fast country roads along with reasonable distance commutes on dual carriageway and motorways. Didn't really get much snow to test them this winter (2014 / 2015) and in the little we did get, couldn't accurately compare them to the Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes I had on my previous car.
Hopefully be able to give them a full workout this winter. Can easily see them lasting 3-4 seasons depending if the rubber goes off like on the Vreds.
It was the first new set of tyres in my new Accord Sedan. I had Hankook i-cept evo previously on my car but it was just a drama. I heard that Nokian WR A3 was previously manufactured in Finland but now it is Russia most probably. They perform absolutely awesome in winter conditions, there is no point where you could compare them to Hankooks which were stiff like a boner after 3 years (I have checked the DOT date). If the temperature goes up a bit like 6-7 cellssiuss then Nokian WR A3 seems to be a bit too soft but it is a strick snow tyre so I can understand that. The biggest disadvantage was that the balancing process took a bit longer than it used to but it is not that hard to blaance them like with all those budget chnese tyres. Also I had to balance them once again after 1.000 miles coz I got my steering wheel wobbling a bit. I have to say that Nokian WR A3 generally is a good winter tyre.
