The presented tyre is marked with 3PMSF symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake). It means that the tyre meets the EU requirements for winter tyres. The symbol is awarded after thorough tests of a tyre model in terms of snow grip.
Driving stability, reliability and excellent grip on wet surfaces are the primary attributes of the Nexen WINGUARD SPORT. It is an excellent solution for everyday driving. Thanks to its asymmetric tread pattern composed of two independent parts, the tyre performs very well on both wet and dry surfaces.
The tyre is noted for its even distribution of forces, which means that the tread wears slowly and evenly and retains its full performance specifications for its entire lifetime. The innovative compound used to produce the tyre makes it resistant to mechanical damage caused by mounting the curb, for example. The compound is resistant to the effect of extreme temperatures, which means that the Nexen WINGUARD SPORT maintains its flexibility, even in freezing temperatures. This gives the tyre better grip and ensures increased driving stability both on straight roads and when going round corners and performing unexpected, sudden manoeuvres. Reduced rolling resistance results in lower fuel consumption, which means that the Nexen WINGUARD SPORT is not only cost effective to buy but also to run. The Nexen WINGUARD SPORT provides a comfortable and quiet driving experience. Its optimised tread pattern and the balanced design of the entire tyre help muffle tyre noise whilst driving, making even the shortest journey using Nexen WINGUARD SPORT tyres a genuinely enjoyable experience. The model is suited to all drivers looking for comfort and reliability in any situation alongside optimal performance and a safe driving experience.

These tyres are very good for their price. I bought two brand new ones from here to go with 2 of the same that came on the rear of my car so as to have the same tyres all around. They grip well on dry and wet tarmac but not as well as summer tyres do which is to be expected. I was very surprised by just how well they grip on snow and ice. I drove just over 10000 miles on these over the winter period in the UK and there was still plenty of tread on them when I switched over to summer tyres. The tyres are a little bit noisy and hard drive on uneven and rough roads but for most part are fine. As for fuel economy I got a few less MPG on my vehicle trip computer, but nothing majorly noticeable at the pumps. All in all I would highly recommend if you want a cheap but high quality set of tyres for the winter period.
I drove over 6000 miles on Nexen Winguard Sport and I have to admit that they are doing very good in winter conditions. Nexen Winguard Sport are doing well on both snow and slush. Since it is a winter tyre it is doing worse on tarmac than any summer tyre, especially on rut, which is due to the soft compound and hight of the tread. Nexen Winguard Sport are quite quiet for winter tyres, provide great grip and on cold autumn days is doing good in rain than all summer tyres in this size ( Michelin group especially ). Nexen Winguard Sportare not chinese tyres so they can't be compared at all. It is obvious that there are better tyres than Nexen Winguard Sport, e.g.: UG7+.
Nexen Winguard Sport were bought a year ago and from the first moment I saw them I was yearning to test them. I just want to emphasise that I’m a demanding driver who sees safety as the prime aspect since I’m not only a driver but also a husband and a father. First result was
A pleasant surprise: braking distance at 60mphs was 40m. Especially that the road was wet. Concerning noise, it is barely hear able. Korean manufacturer set a limit of 73db but imo Nexen Winguard Sport is way more silent even than my summer tyres in the same size. In total: I recommend Nexen Winguard Sport in 100% and summer tyres as well. Price to prize – a good choice.
Nexen Winguard Sport are perfectly competent winter tyres. Sure, there are better out there and the Kumho KW15 I used to use were certainly grippier on snow and slush but I'm perfectly content with the performance of these tyres for the price paid. They are approximately half the price of the premium winter tyres I had before and are still considerably better than running summer tyres in winter conditions.
They cope with the 230bhp of the car perfectly well. We also use the same model of tyre in 205/55R16 on our Volvo V50 and they work well there too.
Nexen WINGUARD SPORT is a very good tyre for a very good price and I am positively suprised. I did not expect miracles but I have to say that Nexen WINGUARD SPORT goes pretty awesome on wet, dry tarmac. sometimes it breaks the grip when movin-off aggresively. The braking is ok. In the mud, snow is a bit worse but still you have to remember that it is not a high-performance tyre. I have Conti 830 in my other car and they are better but the price was higher as well. to sum up, I will deifinitely buy Nexen WINGUARD SPORT once again.
