Information on the tyre:

This model is the successor of a tyre which rated highly by drivers and scored high in tests Goodyear UltraGrip 8.

Its greatest asset is its short braking distance, something which has been proven in tests conducted by the prestigious TÜV organisation. These tests revealed that compared to its biggest three competitors, the tyre ensures a 4% shorter braking distance on snow. Apart from that, the tyre has many other advantages.

Besides proving their short braking distance, TÜV tests have also shown that the tyre performs considerably better than its predecessor, the Goodyear UltraGrip 8.

Its entirely new directional tread pattern performs excellently in typical winter conditions, especially on snow.

This type of performance is determined by elements of the tread like its large number of edges, sipes and tread blocks with a variable geometry. Goodyear UltraGrip 9 is made of a rubber compound enriched by special resins and vegetable oils. Such a solution ensures grip on any winter road. When driving with these tyres you can also feel confident on slush, as the thick grooves located on the tyre’s surface are responsible for its quick drainage from the tyre.

Goodyear UltraGrip 9 performs similarly in rainy conditions. The short braking distance on wet surfaces is facilitated by the modern shoulder blocks.

Driving on wet and snowy roads is supported by the deep sipes.

By investing in Goodyear UltraGrip 9, you can also expect a lower rolling resistance (more fuel savings) and exceptionally high driving comfort. This is all thanks to the tyre’s structure, specially optimised to achieve the above.

The tyre is equipped with a tread wear indicator (in the shape of a snowflake) which allows you establish the tyre’s wear easily.

Note! Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is equipped with two types of directional tread (with or without the central groove).

Goodyear is an American tyre manufacturing group recognised the world over. Their excellent market position today would have been impossible without the efforts of Frank Sieberling, dating back to 1898. The company founder borrowed some money from his brother-in-law to establish the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company plant. The Goodyear Group keeps developing and it’s all thanks to the research laboratory founded in 1943, which regularly provides the company with new ideas.

    Opinion from outside the UK

I would like to share my opinion about the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I decided to purchase them after reading some reviews. So far they are the best winter tyres I have ever had (my previous tyres were Michelins EnergySaver model). I do not regret my decision. I have done more than 6000 miles on them and they still look like new. The tyres are really quiet. They are unusually comfortable as for winter tyres. They are doing very good in snow and slush. They look good on a car. They could be a bit better in dry weather. Braking distance on a wet surface is very good but if you start quickly, they sometimes squeal. When it comes to their wear I cannot tell much because I would have to drive more on them. As for now there are no signs of wear. I would buy the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 again. The rubber compound is quite soft. In my previous car (Ford Focus II, 2007) I had Continental WinterContact tyres and they were not as good as the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9. I would definitely buy these Goodyears again. Read more Collapse

    Opinion from outside the UK

I had a set of Barum Polaris 2 budget winter tyres previously mounted on my vehicle. They were OK but after five seasons the rubber compound became too hard and they began to slide in wet weather conditions. It was a high time to purchase something new and something better. My choice was the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 as I have summer tyres from the same manufacturer. They are very quiet and almost as comfortable as my summer Goodyears. Their wet grip is astonishing. Although the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is not quite a sporty tyre model, it is a real revelation for me. The price was really good. Absolutely no problem in steering on fresh or frozen snow. My car clutched the surface as if it was summer with summer tyres on. I agree with the comments I found on the Internet. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is a perfect tyre for all those who look for a reliable product from premium segment. I do strongly recommend these tyres. Read more Collapse

I do not drive a lot but I decided to tell something about the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. Unfortunately, the last winter season was not rich in snow and slush so I was not able to test my newly purchased tyres. However, I noticed that their grip and braking in dry and wet weather conditions is great. I can say that the driving comfort is really good. Fuel consumption is not high. Internal noise level is very low. The tyres are very quiet. Their price could be a bit lower but I understand that these are top quality tyres. They are worth each penny. When you try to make your car unstable and you try to lose a grip, it is a very difficult to do so. The tyres prevent your car from skidding and they help to eliminate an aquaplaning phenomenon. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 are very good tyres and I recommend them to everybody. Read more Collapse

I was looking for some comfortable tyres. The main criteria for me is the noise level. I decided to purchase a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I wanted to make my vehicle as comfortable as possible and I am really satisfied. The tyres generate definitely a lower noise than my previous Dunlops. My Mazda 6 became a silent vehicle. The biggest surprise is that they are quieter than my summer tyres. They are very good in winter conditions. I read some reviews about these tyres and I know that the braking distances on snow covered roads are much shorter if compared to predecessor. I bought these tyres for a winter season but I think they would be perfect for summer as well! After doing 3000 miles the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres still look exactly the same as when they were new. There are no signs of a tread wear. Read more Collapse

The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres are great! They help to keep you moving in even the most extreme winter weather. I drive mostly on highways. In my opinion these tyres are very comfortable and they perfectly stick to an asphalt both in dry and wet weather. I cannot tell how are they doing on ice because I did not have an opportunity to test them in such conditions. An average fuel consumption in my car is 0.2 liters more when compared it to my summer tyres. A tread optimal performance indicator allows you to keep an accurate eye on the tyre’s tread depth. In conclusion, my car feels better to drive on the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I do recommend this set of tyres to everyone who plan to buy good winter tyres. They look good. They are safe and they can be used in all weather conditions. Read more Collapse

I have very positive impressions connected with the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. They were designed with Goodyear’s unique 3D BIS (Block Interlocking System) technology which provides you with responsive braking in all winter conditions. Their tread optimal performance technology optimizes the tyre’s tread wear, offering a longer life of the tyre. I had absolutely no problems with balancing and wheel alignment. My car became very comfortable once I mounted these tyres on it. Driving is very comfortable. The tyres were value for money and I would buy the same tyres again. I definitely recommend the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 as I have done about 6000 miles on them and I have not noticed any signs of an excessive tread wear. Read more Collapse

The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres are ideal for my Audi 80 B4. My driving style is normal. I do not drive aggressively. The tyres are very quiet. They provide good grip. I did not expect my car to become such comfortable. Although they are winter tyres, they are much more comfortable than my summer Semperit tyres. Their tread pattern looks amazing. The tyres look very nice on a car. In my opinion, Goodyer is one of the best tyre manufactures in the world. I know that their tyres are safe and durable. All technical parameters of the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 are great not only on paper but also on the road. I do not know why some people write bad things about these tyres. I do recommend them to everyone. Read more Collapse

I have done approximately 8.000 miles on the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I am driving usually in a city. The tyres are very quiet. I managed to avoid some crashes as the car could stop quickly no matter it was snowy or rainy. Another indicator of the overall perfect grip was the sign of the tracking control system which did almost never activate with Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 on. Tyre label tells the truth. Driving is really comfortable. You do not want to leave your vehicle. It is a real pleasure to drive a car equipped with GU9. The tyres provide an excellent wet grip and they are quiet. I would like to recommend them to everybody who look for premium quality long-lasting tyres. Read more Collapse

I decided to purchase a set of the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres. I read a lot about this particular model on the Internet before I placed my order. The tyres are superb. Moving off on a second gear without ESP in snow and ice weather conditions did not constitute a problem at all. ABS needs to operate only when you press the breake pedal sharply. Driving is really comfortable even in deep snow. My friend advised me to buy the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres and I do not regret. They were delivered to me within three working dys by Oponeo. My tyre size is 195/65R15. I am really satisfied with the quality of the product I received. I do recommend the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9. Read more Collapse

The tyres are pretty good. When it comes to braking distance in dry weather conditions I must admit that it is more than great. The Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 tyres are quiet even in low temperatures. They behave predicatable and provide a good traction. They are doing well in snow and slush. Such conditions as mud or ice do not constitute an obstacle for them. If I had to purchase some winter tyres again, I would go for the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 again without any doubts. I was hesitating to buy Continental ContiWinterContact TS850 but unfortunately I do not know a lot about Conntinental products. I had UG7 model previously and I was satisfied with its quality. I am a professional driver and I am spending 75% time on the road. This winter was not very heavy, mostly dry, eventually rainy, so my observations are relative to the conditions. I have used Continental Ultra Grip 9 just for one season by now. The fuel efficiency is much better than on my summer tyres – big plus for stamping resistance. The tyres drain the water perfectly – you can fully trust them on the wet surface. Only two times I was able to test those tyres on the snow. I was surprised how good grip on the snow the Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 have. Tyres were absolutely fantastic during these winter, hopefully they will do their job during next one. Read more Collapse

From the first sight Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 brings only positive emotions. Very solid appearance, easy to mount and fit. As soon as I was on the road, my surprise was even bigger. The tyres are one of the most quiet I have ever use. They are very quiet even on the highway, which is very important if you are going on a longer trip. On the dry surface the grip is very good, safe cornering. On wet and slush (during this winter was not much snow), the tyres are doing their job. I managed to test them also on the fresh snow and the braking was without any problems. I have driven about 5000 miles and the trad ware is not very big. Fully recommend them. Read more Collapse

For a long time I was wondering which tyres choose – Michelin or Goodyear Ultra Grip 9. My common sense suggested Goodyears. I was not disappointed. Due to fact, how many miles I am doing each month, I can fully recommend these tyres. Wet surface? Not a problem. Snow? They could be better, but I am not sure if that was an issue with the tyres or with my car. Noise? One of the most quiet tyres I have ever had. Tread ware? If not the law, I could drive on them till the rest of my life. Now I am thinking which tyres choose for the summer season. I am sure that I will choose Goodyear again. Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is a really good choice for winter season. I have Audi 80 b4, my driving style is rather calm. Tyres are very quiet and the grip is fantastic. I did not expect that the tyres will be so agile. I have changed them from Seperit during the summer season and I was surprised how easy was the driving. All parameters of these tyres are just fine. Goodyear Ultra Grip 9 is fantastic tyre for winter. Great in every weather conditions. On slush there is no problem with the driving, very good drains the water. On the snow very good as well ( I have tested them off rad and also in Alps, during the ski season). In my opinion it is not the most quiet tyre in the whole world, but as for the winter tyre it is quite ok, even with the higher speed. The only “but” is with the tread ware, which is a little bit worse than in the Ultra Grip 8. All in all, woth to buy. Read more Collapse

Before buying these tyres I read countless reviews, about these tyres as well as other brands and types. I settled with these and after 4 and a half months I can admit I got it right. I've driven on a variety of surfaces and seen other cars skidding and crashing around me, while mine kept on the road with no problems. Great grip. And I personally haven't detected any noise issues. I'd definitely buy these tyres again. Read more Collapse

All in all, good donuts. They are suitable for a quiet ride on the highway and in the city - behave at the stable. During the acute adhesion break start time - you need to move from the lights quietly ... This year there was with us too much snow, so it is difficult to answer, as the tires behave in difficult driving conditions. These few snow days showed no deficiencies tires. Behave decently both on snow, slush and ice. A little loud, but so have winter tires ... I did not notice much of a difference for it to burn, as compared to summer tires Continental EcoContact 5 ... Tires on snow and wet are some kind of revelation. First, of course, I searched the net for tests and their results worked well. Every day, a woman drives a car, so the tire, in addition to grip, must also be durable, for example when driving on curbs - 8k km and for the time being the tires are still whole. Grip on the snow is great, even for a lightweight hill there is no problem. It is not worse on wet, you can probably go into corners quite easily. On dry, I think it's very good, you have to take the correction that it's not summer. I would recommend. Read more Collapse

Tires persuaded the instigation OPONEO consultant. Throughout the winter season were doing very well but lacked a decent winter this year, so I can try them fully. Only a few days of light snowfall a bit too little to give authoritative opinion. The only thing I noticed on the downside, is at a fairly high-profile (195 / 65R15) tires a bit too soft to bend. This is probably due to the fact that it is high - though years have the same size and not notice such symptoms. Anyway, recommend and probably would decide to buy in the future. Read more Collapse

Tyres bought in August. I won a shopping voucher in OPONEO and took the opportunity. Tires started in the second half of September: my summer was already tipped, and in the morning there were frosts ... First impressions: quiet, soft, well-holding in corners. Driving the 120 is very comfortable. What happens in the winter I do not know, but I had a model Goodyer grip7 and was very happy. I drove on them 4 seasons winter and never failed me. Mr. salesman assured me that this new model will be better. We'll see if I'm happy. Read more Collapse

I bought tires at the start of the season 2014/2015, proven in town- little snow, but also in the Tatra Mountains and South Tyrol, where the snow was very much and starting from frozen and melted. Tires very well stick to the surface, I did not have snow chains on large driveways (many users assumed). Besides, there are quite hard, which does not cause discomfort when driving in terni (via unmade road) and the agresynej driving. Relatively quiet on the highway during snowfall, stable. I would definitely recommend. Read more Collapse

I ordered the tires before winter, and after a few days they sent me to the site that I chose from. Tires have been a few month. Driving long distances after about 1000km in which one country's snowing, it's dry after 200km and suddenly it's raining. Tires on all surfaces behaved perfectly. I was not afraid to push the gas pedal in any case. The only drawback is, unfortunately, tires are like me but a little too loud for the quality you can forgive them. I would recommend anyone with that tire. Paul Read more Collapse

Tires definitely worth the money. I hesitated a long time and was looking good in this segment of tires that will be used for more than one season and it is. They hold excellent for dry, the wet and snow. Very quiet, although relatively hard. It would seem that they have soft sides, but I felt this every day, although had the impression that they are "Under-inflated". But wear is normal when the weight of the vehicle and relatively fast my driving style. I think that senile yet at least 2 seasons. Read more Collapse

Great tire for winter highway conditions at auto slush carried out without any problem, the snow also gives advice (tested on side, buried in snow alpine road). This is certainly not the quietest of the tires, but also does not give much of himself to know even at higher speeds. The only downside for me is slightly faster tire wear compared to eg. The tires used for a week, generally ok, horseback seamless - well hold on curves, relatively quiet, I did not notice a dramatic increase in combustion - all normal. Bought about a month ago, decided to choose the price, in this period, the cheapest of several (Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop, Continental). Not yet tested in the snow and mud solid, but I think that it should not be a problem. Previous tires are Pirelli Carving, equally pleasant to use for several winters. Read more Collapse

This tire is a disappointment for me because of the behavior of the driving conditions at the incident and the icy snow. Sure grip and road-holding well below the old Viking Stop 5000. I do not know what is the reason, perhaps too small tread? This model (Ultra Grip 9) has many advantages when driving on dry pavement, but the behavior in winter conditions made it to the tire lost confidence in any way and I can not recommend to drive in the winter. In winter conditions (snow, ice, slush) very good tires, but on dry and wet surfaces with positive temperature (up to a few degrees - as most of the winter) the tires to the ground leaves a lot to be desired. When sudden braking - even at low speeds (approx. 30 km / h) lose traction - the car skids, which is essential for safety. Tires pretty decent - in the wet hold surprisingly well. With fast cornering in the wet you have to try to get "ślizgnęły". In dry conditions hold great. Driving on mud and snow also positive surprises. Value for money in this case seems to be optimal. This is not the cheapest product but then use very well seen, for what we paid. In conclusion - I recommend. Read more Collapse

The tire is doing very well both in dry conditions, as well as in the rain or icy road. Driving in the snow was in the eye of the relatively few, but in all cases the tire to lose traction. At high speeds, not troubled excessive noise. I felt not increase after the founding of the burning of tires, so it is good for this class of winter tires. I would recommend :) Read more Collapse

Zimówkę tire as very quiet, fuel consumption has increased by about 0.2l / 100km (gas) so virtually unnoticeable. On dry and wet roads behaves great, but just to feel the difference in the snow. I had different tires, buy new because I travel a lot, but I use several seasons UG from 7 onwards and I really do not intend for the moment to change trains. Read more Collapse

The front tires put on myself 2pcs Ultra Grip 9, on the back of the left are old because they were in good condition. How several times rode aggressively on the roundabout I felt that I flee back to the sides, but the front is held dear :) Overall I would recommend, I was not disappointed at them, and I gave them a couple of times while driving tests Read more Collapse

When buying a car tire got a complete rebuild, so compared with 9 Ultra Grip them fall out perfectly. But in comparison to the Polish Debica that I have with the other car also fall b. Well, they are definitely quieter. Unfortunately, the winter was mild, so it was a special occasion for a thorough check, however, recommend purchasing these tires. Read more Collapse
